Ideally situated for the ferry terminal to Sicily. Very helpful and friendly staff. Clean, comfortable and well equipped. English spoken and directions around town provided and restaurant recommendations (and discounts) provided.

We stayed here for 3 nights whilst we visited Reggio Calbria and a quick visit to Sicily. The hotel is very central, very close to the ferry, has friendly staff who speak English and is excellent value for money. Would certainly recommend and would stay here again.

Room Tip: If rooms are available, ask to face Sicily.

Stayed for two nights to explore Reggio and take the ferry to Sicily. Extremely convenient to Ferry and Port but if you are not a walker it might be too far to really explore the downtown shopping district. Parking was convenient and free, but a note of caution this is off season. The Hotel lobby is small but check in was easy and the staff extremely helpful. They let me park right in front of the Hotel. The rooms are nothing special no room for a sitting area just a bed to end tables and a wardrobe plus flat screen. Wifi is not free and fee based 3 eu which is ridiculous. The bathroom is functional, the shower as mentioned has many jets. How much time do you spend in it anyway. One small window with a view over to Sicily is nice but it sure would have been better to have a larger vista considering that space was at a minimum. Breakfast was the usual meat cheese and sweets with cereals and espresso and tea. The breakfast area is cozy and was not crowded. Service was excellent for beverages. Good value for the price but left wanting more.

Room Tip: Choose a room above the second floor for a view of Mt Etna and Sicily. It is in the back of the hote...

I had a great stay at Hotel Continental in Reggio Calabria! What a pleasant experience: the hotel is very conveniently located a short walk away from Reggio’s beautiful “lungomare.” I took many walks by the seaside there, doing some people-watching, and occasionally popping into one of the many lovely bars for a drink, or a bite to eat. Then, coming back to the hotel, I enjoyed the comfort and privacy of my room. Cozy, but not too small, it looks like it was recently renovated, and I have to commend the hotel’s management on doing so with style. You’ve got to love those Italians! Also, the staff was nice and friendly, and they were always courteous at accommodating my requests and offering guidance as I visited the city (ask them about restaurants, wine bars, museums: they’ll know!). Overall, Hotel Continental is a great value, and I would definitely go back there on a next trip to Reggio Calabria!

We chose this hotel after reading reviews on here, as a base from which to travel to and from Sicily. Hotel Continental is ideal for this purpose, being situated just minutes away by foot from the ferry terminal.
The room was comfortable and clean, breakfast was reasonable. The bathroom had an excellent shower with various shower heads and settings.
Customer service was excellent; whilst staying here on our way back from Sicily, the reception staff provided us with coffee and pastries on arrival after we opted to sit in the seating area behind reception (we were not charged for these). Staff also gave recommendations about local restaurants and booked a taxi for us to the airport.
We had a room with a view of the Straits of Messina; on waking the next day, we had a wonderful view of Mount Etna.
This is not a hotel to choose if you are looking to stay in an upbeat, picturesque area of Reggio di Calabria (being situated directly next to the port as it is) but it is an ideal base from which to explore Reggio or as previously mentioned, for travel to and from Sicily. Would stay here again.

When looking for a Hotel in a location I have not previously visited the two important things to me are location and price, Hotel Continental excelled in both these. Situated at the North end of Reggio Calabria’s promenade it is very convenient for the shopping area, Lido, railway station, ferry to Sicily and museums all of which are a five minute walk from the Hotel. The Central railway station is further away but most trains stop at Reggio Calabria Lido or a train can be caught from Central to the Lido which is a four minute journey.
When at the Hotel I expect (or hope for) cleanliness, non-shabby rooms and pleasant helpful staff, yet again Hotel Continental excelled in all. We arrived in Reggio Calabria a little after 9.00am and found the Hotel with ease as it is well signposted from the roads. Although check-in at the hotel is stated as being after 3.00pm they do offer a left luggage service and so we decided to take advantage of this, however arriving at a little after 9.00am we were told that our room was ready and we were welcome to book-in there and then, this gave us chance to freshen up and have the rest of the day luggage free around the City.
The room was modern, fresh and of a very high decor standard. It was spotlessly clean with the added bonus of a sea view looking out over the Messina straights to Sicily and Mount Etna. All rooms have TV a fridge rom service and the three jet shower that others have praised in their reviews. Finally the buffet breakfast is more than plentiful to store you up for a day sight-seeing with fresh fruit, cheeses, hams, cereal etc. I also have to say the best Americano Coffee I have had in Italy and I have lived here for four years, I will return!
Please note: if you intend to visit Reggio Calabria to see the Riace Bronzes the Museum of Magna Greccia is closed for renovation and knowing Southern Italy as well as I do I envisage this being closed for the rest of the year. However the Riaces can still be viewed for free at the restoration lab which is about a fifteen minute walk from the Hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view
