This museum was just 5 minutes from our apartment and probably a 15 minute walk from the center of town where the church is located. Admission was €4, had a very knowledgeable guide who spoke English very well; explained the process of paper making, the machinery and the Amalfil river which provided the power. The gift shop has a number of hand made products.
Very much enjoyed the tour.

Below street level is in a grotto is old hand made machinery driven by water. We saw how they made paper from scraps of linen. Amalfi was famous for its paper. They still make paper on a small scale. The tour is short and interesting. Afterwards you can buy handmade paper. We really enjoyed the museum.

it shows 3 machines used thoughout time to make hand made paper. Since I have a passion for paper I would have loved to have more insights on the later stages too.

This had been recommended to us and although a tour of the factory might not be one for everyone it was interesting to find out a little about the history of paper making in the town. The guide was very good so if you have aspire half hour and are interested in things a little different and supporting local ventures give it a whirl.

We recently had a brief yet informative tour of this museum. The price is right and the tour does not really lend itself to asking questions. Nevertheless, since there are not numerous things to see in Amalfi, it was worth the time.
