The Amalfi coast is paradise and The Santa Caterina Hotel is absolutely one of the best hotels we stayed. It exceeded our expectations. The friendly staff and fine dining was exquisite.
You will be treated like a VIP. We highly recommend.

Cannot wait to return. Brilliant.

Our family of five plus my sister in law were guests this past week at the perfect Hotel Santa Caterina (March 26 - 28). Every single one of us LOVED it! It is more than worthy of a strong five-star rating.

To begin with, the hotel is visually stunning, intrinsically beautiful and immaculate. In fact, my wife proclaimed that the Santa Caterina "is the prettiest and cleanest hotel" she has ever seen (and she has seen a lot of great hotels). Every aspect of it is pristine and fresh. It is obvious that the family who owns and operates it reinvests a great deal of their earnings into improving and maintaining their amazing property.

From an architectural perspective, it fits beautifully with the stunning Amalfi coastline. Interestingly, its pretty promotional pictures online don't do it justice (with too many other places, it is usually the other way around).

We arrived late on Wednesday night after a long drive from Rome. We were tired and road fried. Thankfully, we stepped out of our car into a professional and warm greeting from the HSC's perfectly trained staff. It was chilly and raining when we arrived, but the HSC's team had a lovely fire burning in the lobby's petite and charming fireplace.

We were generously given an upgrade (a benefit of being there in the off-season) to the amazing rooms 4 & 5 which are connected. Both have balconies directly overlooking the water and are simply gorgeous. Room 5 has an innovative rounded bathroom with a sunken Jacuzzi hot tub and a large floor-to-ceiling curved window overlooking the water. Each room is quite large with sitting areas, one king bed each and a twin bed supplement - perfect for the six of us. Upon seeing the rooms for the first time, my twelve-year-old daughter jumped up and down with delight while everyone else gasped with joyful wonder.

One recommendation: if you're on a bed and breakfast plan, spend the 10 extra Euros per person to have breakfast delivered to your room and eat on your balcony. We did this on Friday and it was one of the nicest things we did.

Another tip: while an elevator will take you about ten stories down the cliff to the water where a beautifully maintained deck and salt water pool await you (although it was closed in the off-season, we imagined it to be paradise on a warm sunny day) walk the pathway down through the terraced lemon grove at least once. The landscaping is beautiful, peaceful and inspiring.

My wife and sister in law both took advantage of the spa with massages and liked it. My wife said the masseuse had "perfect pressure."

My kids wanted me to emphasize the following: the stunning views, the "rain shower" in Room 4, the Jacuzzi hot tub and beautiful tile work in Room 5, having breakfast on our room's balcony, the wonderful dining room with top-flight cuisine and impeccable service.

The hotel offers a shuttle service to the charming town of Amalfi which has much to discover through leisurely strolls.

In short, we highly recommend the Hotel Santa Caterina. Clearly, it is one of the great small hotel treasures in the world. We hope to return as soon as we can.

Room Tip: Rooms 4 & 5 connect, overlook the water, are beautiful and have amazing bathrooms.

We stayed at the hotel in March and were terribly unlucky with the weather which was awful. Torrential rain for twelve hours at a time and numerous hail storms. What made this holiday more than bearable was this wonderful hotel. The service is probably the best we have ever experienced. The staff are all, without exception, absolutely brilliant. The food was superb and the fire was lit every night in the lounge area and we could sit and chill with a glass or two of delicious vino. We were upgraded to a junior suite on arrival and it was just perfect. We decided to leave Amalfi and come home two days early due to the dreadful weather and the hotel did not charge us for the extra days, even though we were clearly giving them less than 24 hours notice. We were so impressed with this and we would not hesitate to recommend this hotel. To stay there in the sunshine must just be incredible. Worth every penny.

As my husband and I get ready to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary, we can't help but smile and remember the most amazing honeymoon at Santa Caterina in Amalfi.
From the warm and friendly greeting upon arrival to the special touches (dinner reservations, day trips to wineries, Capri) arranged by the wonderful staff, we were so well taken care of!
We stayed at the beautiful Santa Caterina for 13 days and enjoyed every single second of our stay. We upgraded to the Chalet Giulietta & Romeo on our last 2 nights and it was a dream come true!
The grounds were immaculately maintained and the room accommodations were divine.
The staff were absolutely amazing, especially Simone, Gigi, Lello and so many more!
We felt like an extended part of the Santa Caterina family when we left.
We are so looking forward to coming back to celebrate our 5 year anniversary! (and perhaps our 10, 15, 20, etc.)
Santa Caterina Hotel is the ultimate!

The hotel without a doubt is fitting for the title one of the world's best hotel. The view alone is breathtaking and worth the stay. Please remember that the hotel has been around for a while now and you are able to see this from the common facilities of the hotel. However with that being said, the room is spacious, the amenities is first class. Do ask for a room with a view and you won't be disappointed. The hotel interior and atmosphere is majority in white. The character of the room is that of a resort of mediterranean. The hotel is located less than 5 minutes away from the Amalfi city.

We loved the staff, the view and the feel of the hotel (although the buffet breakfast was pretty bad - watery eggs, etc). If it weren't for all of that, we would have given a Poor rating to the hotel, because it was so noisy. The maids yell at each other in the hallways and while cleaning the rooms early in the morning, the rooms have tile floors and chairs with no sound protection on their legs, the room doors have no sound protection on them and therefore are loudly slamming constantly, workers outside make a racket early in the morning, etc., etc. Noise alone, from chairs sliding around in occupied rooms above us, cut our sleep time in half and ruined our stay. And we talked with 4 other couples who experienced the same sleepless nights. Management could do so much to fix this. Forget having a peaceful, quiet stay.

After the beautiful drive up the mountains arrived to the hotel we were greeted by a friendly face who took our luggage and let us to the front desk. Everyone was friendly they let us to our room got our bags situated for us showed us how to work the whirlpool explained the complementary breakfast and how to work the TV along with the beautiful view of the ocean. We made dinner reservations here and before then we strolled down the beautiful stone path that was lit up by little lanterns and pieces of wood that were carved into the mountain. When we came back we entered the dining room which was filled with candlelight and beautiful flowers. We ate one of the best meals we have had in Italy do not even think about the price it is totally worth every cent. Even at a high and restaurant such as this the waitstaff was fun loving kind and personable. When we arrived back in our room they had set up little mats at our bedside along with slippers a little water and cups by her nightstand. We use the Jacuzzi and got into a robe and slippers while overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The room was beautifully decorated with old vintage furniture interesting books a beautiful bar and wonderful floor tiles. Even the amenities were amazing anything you want here they will give it to you, there's a spa a pool is very helpful concierge and a bar. We slept with the door open so that we could see the moon rippling along the ocean I cannot tell you how much this meant. We have been in Italy for two weeks and this by far has been one of the best stays and locations for a little rustic getaway ever. I highly recommend this hotel it has been one of the best experiences and definitely once-in-a-lifetime.
