We took a last minute trip to Amalfi to escape our rather dismal British summer this year. The room was spotless, staff extremely helpful and friendly, rooms comfortably appointed with a spacious, strong shower, loads of hot water, plenty of storage space and, as we were in the middle of a heat wave, fortunately a very efficient air conditioner. The room we had was quite small and had a very small and quite old television but as we spent very little time in the room and don,t watch television on holiday or at home much, it was ideal for us. The lounge area could do with an update and some efficient air conditioning as it was very hot and quite uncomfortable. The hotel is ideally situated for it's small private beach as well as for walking into town. We did not do much exploring because of the heat but will definitely go back at a cooler time of the year to see the sights and the Aurora is an excellent base for that. Wi-fi is a problem if you want to work so definitely go for a break from the office Two suggestions, fresh fruit would be good at breakfast instead of tinned (we bought beautiful fruit in the village and they were also serving it in many of the restaurants) and tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms would be a bonus.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- Aurora Hotel is the perfect spot to spend an unforgettable holiday in Amalfi.Located nearby the Amalfi Marina, the hotel is only 500 meters from the hustle and bustle of Piazza Duomo. It is the ideal accommodation for visiting the Amalfi Coast and its picturesque villages, such as Ravello, Positano, Capri and even the Pompeii Excavation, which are all within easy reach. The bus station and the wharf are only 5 minutes’ walk from the hotel. After a long day-trip, Aurora Hotel is just a short walk to downtown and the beach, and it is accessible without climbing stairs. One final recommendation from the hotel management: if you want to spend a few relaxing days in Amalfi, please check Aurora Hotel location on Google Maps and compare it with other hotels. Most of Amalfi hotels are located in the noisy old Town, accessible by climbing long stairs; some others are located on the highway to Positano, so you will need to take the bus, a taxi or your car in order to reach the city, driving down one of the busiest roads in Italy! ... more less
