Great stay here in Amalfi in this hotel built inside an actual 13th century old convent. The view of the city and the open sea from the (family suite) was unique. The dinner for the end of the year party was faultless. The view of the midnight fireworks was unforgettable. The breakfast buffet had everything and the car valet service was impeccable. Suppose this must be a great stay in summertime too, with the private pool overlooking the sea.
This is one of the iconic hotels in Amalfi. On the plus side, location is right outside of the town square with a mountain passageway (ask for directions) to get there in a 5-10 minute walk without any traffic whizzing by. The breakfast buffet is as long as the room and absolutely terrific. The tables on the open balconies were the most stunning table views in my life. The wait staff were very attentive. This is a "resort" with honeymooners, families and couples willing to spend a little more for a luxury feel. Their open patio in the late afternoon is also very elegant and a nice spot to relax after a long day of sightseeing and before a late Italian dinner. What about the hotel? Staff is brusque and very business like. No exactly friendly answering questions, etc. We were waiting for our driver to pick us up and I asked the desk if they could call and they said no, the driver is probably on his way! Our room was
spacious but we needed air conditioning to keep cool. We were
in a room down the stairs with a large bathroom. We could here the staff from a window near the tub, but the single window with a view did show us the water and town of Amalfi. My wife and I both arrived sick and the fresh air and breakfast got us back to health in no time. (four night stay)
My best friend got married in the chapel which is stunning and the reception was held at the The Saracen Tower restaurant, the food was AMAZING and the views were STUNNING. Couldn't fault it at all.
This is the most amazing hotel, we have stayed here many times & it is always superb. Food everything about it cannot recommend enough
Spent two nights there. Room was dark and noisy as it was over a busy road. Service was not great. We didn't sleep well. I lived the courtyard area but the hotel needs work.
This is a huge disappointment for a 4 star hotel. I won't recommend it to anyone. It's not kept up, no central air conditioning, the staff not friendly, food is not good and lastly there are NO towels other than bath towels.
