We hadn't been to Amalfi for 23 years and fancied revisting such a beautiful place. We took a chance and chose the Floridiana as it was no.1 on TA. It didn't look like a hotel we would have ordinarily have chosen. After a couple of helpful emails to arrange airport pick up, off we went.
The hotel is down a tiny side alley and up quite a few steps and nothing special to look at from the outside. However when we were there we were not disappointed. It is possibly one of the cleanest hotels we have ever stayed in.
It is a small hotel and therefore the offering is not vast but the rooms are comfortable, not tiny, you have all you need and CLEAN!
The staff and owner, Agnese, are all loveley. You see them each morning at breakfast (tasty but no cooked items) and any queries, requests are dealt with efficiently and without any effort.
We were so comfortable we booked for the following September while we were there.
I would have liked a pool, or maybe a garden/courtyard area for sitting in, in the afternoon, but given the constraints of the building and the area that would not be possible.
When we returned in September we were treated like old friends and the room we had had a little balcony which gave me the little bit of outdoor space I wanted.
It is not a glam, swanky hotel but you will feel extremely well looked after and when we go back I doubt we will stay anywhere else.

I found this hotel on Trip Advisor, and all the positive reviews are true. Our room was beautiful and very clean; the staff was friendly and helpful; and the location was perfect---close to everything, but off the main street. Breakfast was excellent.

Amalfi is a great base from which to explore the rest of the coast. Ferries and buses are easy to use and quite cheap, and they provide great views of the area. Parking and driving along the coast looked like a hassle, and we were happy we did not have a car. I definitely recommend taking the bus to Ravello and then hiking back down to Amalfi. Its a tough hike--thousands of steps--but the views are incredible.

Of all the towns we visited, Amalfi was definitely our favorite. Lots of restaurants and shops, but more of a local/family feel; less touristy than other spots. The beach is very clean and was not crowded in June. Our favorite restaurants were: L' Abside, Il Teatro and Meme--excellent food, reasonable prices and friendly, family-feel.

The room we had (103) was spacious and had a jacuzzi on a kind of internal mezzanine. It was on the first floor facing an inner courtyard and was very quiet in the evening so we left the window open as the windows are mosquito proof. Unfortunately, some loud locals started talking very early the next morning and woke us up, so make sure you keep the windows closed and use the air conditioning, which was very well adjustable.

This hotel offers excellent value for Amalfi and judging from the prices of the hotels on Capri, it is much less expensive to stay here and to go to Capri by boat.

The breakfast buffet offers more than enough variety, including fresh rolls, Italian sausage, cheese as well as the usual continental breakfast with butter and jam. Fresh fruit is also available.

Agnese, the manager of the hotel, spent three years working in Switzerland and this clearly shows in the efficient way she runs the place. I can thoroughly recommend this hotel, so enjoy your stay !!

We arrived on August 13 - two days prior to my 50th birthday. We were dropped off at the mini roundabout in town, which also serves as the SITA bus terminus, amongst a lot of very noisy, loud people.
One phone call to Agnese arranged for two very fiendly young men, driving a miniscule electric van, to come pick up our luggage, and then a 2 minute walk, took us to the Hotle Floridiana.
We were welcomed by Eva, and offered welcome drinks , after which we were shown our room - charming, and very, very homely to say the very least.
A faulty air conditioner resulted in a very welcome bottle of bubbly in out room when we got back from the beach on 17 August 2009 - thank you very much Agnese, Eva - this was not necessary at all, but sorely appreciated.
We are leaving on Wednesday 19 August, but will carry all of you, the friendly smiles and greetings in the mornings, with us back to South Africa.
Thank you
