I spent 3 nights in Villa Annalara Relais as part of my honeymoon. The view is a delight. We stayed in the Glicine and provably it's the best room in the Villa. The staff is friendly. The breakfast was good if you are a cure meets lover. I did not have a problem in that department.
It might be tricky to get to the hotel, the steps might be old and the tunnel a little creepy but its part of the experience. I loved it! Once you are in that terrace you'll have the best view in town.

My husband and I loved our stay at the Villa Annalara. We hired a car and drove from Rome. The highways were great but the windy roads and narrow streets were quite stressful (especially with tour buses coming at you!), so we arrived quite tired. But after a few hours at this hotel, we quickly recovered.

The hotel is on a cliff, so you can take a small lift or climb a whole lot of stairs to get there, we chose the lift! The rooms were great, no complaints. The hotel is in a great location, easy to walk to the main piazza and the beach. The best thing about this hotel though is the amazing terrace overlooking the hill and the ocean. It is simply stunning and so relaxing. We spent a few nights out on the terrace with a pizza (you can buy one for about 4 Euro from a pizza shop on the main street - on your left as you walk to the beach from the hotel) and a glass of red or some limoncello. It's also a great place to chat with other guests. This was one of our favourite moments on holiday.

If you want a beautiful place to stop and enjoy the Amalfi coast, I would recommend Villa Annalara.

We booked Villa AnnaLara after reading all those good reviews about it and its staff. We might have mistakenly gone to the wrong place, wrong hotel, because our experience was not very pleasant! We totally agree that the hotel itself is nice with an outstanding view on Amalfi and the bay. The room (Ciclamino) was nice, but definitely not worth 120€ in low season.
- The main unpleasant thing is that the staff is rude. In 3 days, we never got the chance to get a smile (except from the cleaner, she was nice), or a “please”, “thank you” etc…
Other negative points;
- Do not go there to feel free of your movements; the owner takes your car away in his "secret" car park (because it’s impossible to park freely in the street; resident permit only) as soon as you arrive. As he does not want to tell you were the car park is, he has to go and get your car if you need it (with 20mn notice). So, to avoid having to go back and forth where he keeps it, he’ll advice you to use public transport instead (you pay again). The car park costs 18€ a day, to be paid cash of course! Way to expensive!
- Very very bad odorant mini bar… Even the bottle of water stunk.

It is regrettable not to be welcomed the way it should be in a hotel. In the end all we wanted was to leave the place (even though we had a short stay). One last thing that says a lot about the owner, he encourages you to pay your stay cash!

I was in fact a guest of Villa Lara (next to Villa Annalara Relais), which was a wonderful establishment, but I could not help wishing that I stayed at Villa Annalara Relais instead.

Being part of a close community in Amalfi, the owner of Villa AnnaLara Relais, Salvatore, was kind enough to show my friend and I his amazing resort, which was warm and cosy, yet amazingly beautiful in its own way.

The Villa is set on the “inner” part of the top of this cliff, which is 10 minutes away on foot off the main street of the Amalfi town. Guests of the resort have the luxury of lounging on the main spacious terrace, while they are enjoying the view of the sea. If they are fit enough to climb a few steps along a short path on the hill, they even get to admire the breathtaking view of Ravello.

Although I did not get to try their breakfast, the service certainly seemed impeccable, and all areas were kept immaculate at all times.

When I do visit Amalfi again, you would see me lounging on a chair at Villa Annalara Relais, reading a book while I am sipping on a glass of wine. I can only dream about this in the meantime.

Just returned from a fabulous stay at Villa Annalara! The photos are very accurate - the Villa is beautiful and peaceful, the rooms are very nice and spacious (by european standards) though with a lower ceiling over the bed due to the roof line, and the baths were clean and seemed freshly renovated.... Great value overall and Amalfi is a perfect base for sightseeing trips - Villa Annalara keeps you close to town for transportation options and sightseeing, yet far enough away to get a great view and a quiet night's sleep.

The hotel is easy to find and not as far as it looks on the map - it's just up the main road from the water that goes past the Duomo; you'll pass through a tunnel and the hotel is on the left about a half block up, just past a little waterfall with a statue. It's only a few minutes walk from the waterfront, maybe 4-5 blocks at most, up a slighly inclined road which shouldn't be a problem for most people unless in poor physical condition or traveling with a lot of heavy luggage...There is an elevator but you will have to go up a half flight of stairs first and then turn right...

Breakfast is a simple matter of a small buffet of croissants, fruit, juice, cereal and yogurt with fresh espresso made to order (definitely a treat) served on the balcony with a lovely view of the harbor - at night, with the jasmine blooming, couples will find this a romantic place to linger before going out for the evening.... There's also a sun terrace with lounge chairs, and the 3 rooms upstairs have a mini shared terraza as well... In late afternoon the sun terrace will not have direct sun, so your best bet if you plan to lay in the sun is to do so in the morning or early afternoon or else go down to the beach...
Salvatore and his brother were fabulous hosts and made us feel very welcome....they had very good suggestions of where to eat, as well as where and when to sightsee (based on weather,etc)....

Highly recommend

Great villa and room was fab, very clean. Great location and great value for money. The bad thing i can say is that they don't have irons in rooms. There is a laundry not far from villa if you need to iron clothes (2 euros per item).
I would def stay here again.

We had a fantastic stay in Amalfi recently and found that the villa annalara was an excellent option to stay. The hotel is about 10 minutes easy walk from the port where the buses drop everyone off. It has a small modern lift that takes you up to the hotel (we didn't realise this the first day and walked up the steep stairs with our luggage!). Our room was a reasonable size and extremely clean with a mini-bar, tv (only 1 English channel) and fantastic bathroom with spa bath. It was cleaned every day. It didn't have a window that looked outside, but we tended to sit on the terrace most of the time anyway. I'd recommend buying any drinks at the shops on the street as the mini-bar prices were pretty steep. Breakfast was served each morning on the beautiful terrace with views over Amalfi. The food was pretty basic (bread rolls, cheese, juice etc) but the best was the freshly made cappucinos. The best feature of the hotel is the huge terrace (much larger than villa lara next door) which was great to relax on in the early evenings with a glass of prosseco!
