This hotel is perched up high overlooking the beautiful water and the town of Amalfi. The setting is gorgeous. Theresa, was exceptionally helpful and kind. One of the highlights was going to the restaurant owned by the family who owned the hotel. They provided transportation to and from the restaurant. The food was delicious and when we told them we were celebrating our 50th anniversary they served us a scrumptious cake on a huge platter with a big 50 written in chocolate syrup. It was quite impressive. Our only disappointment was with the lifts that were used to take you to and from the street level and the hotel. There were 3 lifts (very slow moving) and at first we thought it was so charming, but charm only goes so far. Every time we used them at least one of the 3 did not work which necessitated us to walk many steps. The final morning we wanted to leave earlier than when they opened for breakfast because we had a long drive ahead of us. (7:00 am instead of 8:00am). They already took care of getting our suitcases up to our car at street level, but we still had hand luggage. When we tried the first lift, it would not come down to meet us at the hotel, so we hiked up the steps to the second lift. The second one only went a few inches and stopped, so again we had to hike up steps. Finally the third lift didn’t work either, so guess what? Another hike! Over 300 steps carrying our hand luggage. If we were in our early 20’s this probably would have been a minor nuisance, but we are both in our 70’s and it was not a pleasant experience. No one mans the desk, so we couldn’t contact anyone. My advice is if you are young, or in great physical condition and enjoy stair climbing workouts stay in this hotel. If not you may want to think twice.

The proprietors of this B&B are fantastic. We booked a room through Airbnb and Theresa was both helpful and communicative in sharing the directions on how to find the property. Her great directions aside, we got very lost without any phone service to get in touch/ask questions (note: the landmark for the GPS/on the main road is the Grand Excelsior Hotel and it is a simple marking over a staircase going down.)

As other's have mentioned, this property is literally tucked into the side of a cliff and is not directly reachable by car. There are several hundred stairs to get down to the property and they are steep. Not for those that are unable to walk up/down lots of stairs.

Once we found the B&B we got checked in quickly and Theresa was again extremely helpful in getting us oriented to the town of Amalfi, transportation, etc. Our room was small and rather dim, but adequate in providing the standard amenities. +1 for the bed being very comfortable and the AC working! There are terraces to sit outside that overlook the water but there isn't a restaurant or market located anywhere close, so pick up your wine and snacks to enjoy in advance!

We liked this place because it was ~10 minute shuttle ride down to the Amalfi city center. We were able to hop on the Hotel Excelsior shuttle that runs every 30 minutes or so but they also provide a shuttle down to their sister restaurant right outside of the center of Amalfi.

Overall not the lap of luxury but absolutely serviceable for a reasonably priced, well-located B&B with a friendly staff.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the lower level.

Difficult to find but once you do you will not be disappointed. Everyone who works there is lovely and the owner also owns a really great restaurant on the sea front just past Amalfi center. The breakfast was good and the bed really comfortable. The stair lifts are a little temperamental and there are a few steps that they don't reach but there's a relaxing pool at the end, so it's all worth it. Definitely recommend staying here.

We stayed here for a few days in Amalfi. I will say that this is not a hotel for the less abled due to the steps but we quite enjoyed the walk down to town and there is a bus to take you back up. The owner was very hospitable and helpful. We left very early in the morning and she made sure she gave us breakfast the night before. The views are incredible and while the hotel could do with a little renovation, it did have a lot of charm and character.

I was there for dinner with friends, starter was ok : pepata di cozze e vongole. We didn't wait to much even if restaurant was full outside.
My fish dish was made by fresh calamari - good quality but I didn't like it because fish was drown in tomato sauce. To much in my opinion, it has killed the good taste of calamari.
My friend got my same calamari with pasta, he noted was much the tomato sauce too. One other friend was happy with her mixed grilled fish dish. Waiter was very kind.
May be next time I will try their pizza :)
