I stayed in this B&B, which is really a newly restored private self-contained appartment within shouting distance of the Duomo, for 4 nights and really enjoyed my stay from the warm welcome by Francesca to the equally warm check out with her mother Marta. There is a well equipped separate kitchen area with table & chairs for those who wish to self-cater (but why would you when there are so many restaurants, cafes & bars on the doorstep) and an ample bathroom with a great shower. The room has a self adjustable heater/aircon unit and the bathroom has a fan heater in case of need, and a hairdryer. The bedroom is exactly as in the photos and the bed is very comfortable. The apartment feels airy and light and was spotlessly clean with cleaning products available. Coffee pods are provided for the machine as are teabags and other herbal teas. Breakfast is by way of a redeemable voucher at the cafe opposite the exquisite San Matteo duomo (visit to the crypt is not to be missed). The train station is about 10 mins away and the bus terminus a further 5 mins, which make Salerno an excellent base for day trips to the Amalfi Coast, Pompei, Paestum, Naples etc. Francesca kept in touch with me via Whatsapp during my stay to check what I had been up to and to recommend restaurants where I could have dinner. One which stood out for me is Pizzeria Salerosa behind the B&B in the parellel street which makes amazingly good pizzas. I found Salerno to be a very friendly and safe city which seems to be happy to remain unassuming. Staying at the Larghetto, the Luci D'Artista and being in the historical centre just made my stay in Salerno perfect!
