This is not a hostel in the UK understanding of the word at all. The room we booked was large and very comfortable. We found the fridge to keep our bottled water and lemoncello cool. The TV didn't have any english speaking channels that we could find but hey we were on holiday so why would we need that?

The bathroom was large and clean, dispite putting the towels to dry on the rack over the bath they were changed daily which was great for us. The bath seemed to have a jaccuzzi which didn't work, the shower was great, but a bath was not viable because the water was not hot enough.

Breakfast was normal continental breakfast of cold meats and cheeses, bread, cakes, fruit and yoghurt.

Room Tip: First floor room was great, it had its own balcony which was a sun trap and was very quiet.

Our stay at the Ulisse Deluxe Hostel was terrific. We arranged for a quad room and were very pleasantly surprised to find ourselves in a two bedroom two bath "suite" that served our needs beautifully. The location of the hotel with respect to accessing the heart of Sorrento was superb, our bedroom(s) were clean and very comfortable and the staff addressed all of my family's needs and questions with courtesy and kindness. We learned of the Ulisse through friends that raved about their stay there a few years earlier. They were not wrong and we were not disappointed.

First, this is NOT a "hostel" as one would typically think of a hostel. There are not dorms, nor is there a communal kitchen (and the breakfast is EXPENSIVE) but it is still a great value for this expensive area. Our room was big and clean. There was a fridge (no microwave) which was great for our lemoncello :). Not exactly a "budget" place to stay at 55 euro a night, but if we wanted to stay super cheap we would not have come to the Amalfi Coast at all. The location is wonderful, quiet and away from the main part of Sorrento, but still within 10 minutes walking of ANYTHING you would need in Sorrento (including the train station).

We booked six rooms at this location, all were to include breakfast. All were charge the same room rate. We check in, and we are told that the breakfast was not included, and that there was a 14 euro charge for breakfast. Parking was also 15 euro a day. Even though we spoke Italian, the front desk staff did not care, take it or leave it attitude, (must be Neapolitans). This place will charge you for everything. I was even charge twice for parking, until I showed them. STAY AWAY FROM THIS RIP OFF!

What a fabulous place! Clean, roomy, nice and welcoming and every single staff member happy to assist you in any way. All of this for an extremely reasonable rate. They have shutters that block out the light so your room is dark when you want to sleep. There is some street noise, but I think much quieter here than in other areas. We included breakfast with our reservation and it was just fine--good assortment of breads, yogurts, cereals, etc. We did not have problems with the wifi as some other guests have had.

The location is perfect. If you leave the hotel and head to your right--you are on the back section of the "old quarter" with all of its small winding, cobbled roads, shops and restaurants. To the left and you walk down to the Grand Marina--yummy eateries there as well.

We arrived in Sorrento via the Circumvesuviana train. If you do not have too much luggage, it is an easy walk (about 20 minutes) from the train station. Simply exit the station, walk down the steps and walk straight across a small street and you will be at the "main drag" Corso Italia. Turn left (do not cross Corso Italia--stay on left side.) It will take you about ten minutes to get to Tasso Square. Stay straight through the square. (After you clear the square, cross over to other side of the street when you can.) Keep walking until you pass the hospital on your right. (This will seem a very long way your first time there. Just stay on the main street and keep walking. You won't miss the hospital--it is well marked.) Right after you pass the hospital, there is a set of stone steps to the right, take the steps down. (There is a bus stop there and bridge that crosses over the street. If you cross over the bridge, you missed the steps.) Go down the steps and turn right--keep walking down the hill. The Ulisse Deluxe Hostel will be on the left. It is under the Ulysse Car Park. (Keep to the side of the street or on the narrow sidewalk--cars drive quickly around the bend.) I included some pictures--hopefully it might help.

Sorrento is filled with wonderful shops and restaurants--the people are lovely and welcoming. It is a great place to stay for visiting Capri, Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast.

The location of this 'hostel' is great- walking distance from everything yet tucked away in a quieter location than the main drag.
The room was good- basic but clean and very spacious with a bright bathroom (and big bath- just what i needed to rest my weary limbs at the end of a long day exploring roman ruins!). Our room even had it's own sun terrace/balcony overlooking a waterfall- though I don't think many rooms have this feature.
We used booking.com and our room rate included breakfast- a reasonable continental affair with bread, cereal etc but my goodness some of the cakes were lovely! These varied everyday.
The staff were always a delight- welcoming and very helpful and a great source of local knowledge.
Overall, we were thrilled to have found a place this good for such a modest budget, would recommend to anyone and if we stay in Sorrento again this would be our first choice by miles. Thanks!

Perfectly located "hostel"....beautiful marble floors, spacious bedroom and bathroom. Bed was comfortable. Plentiful breakfast included. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Easy access to the centre of Sorrento. We had a great holiday on the Amalfi coast with the help of the Ulisse Deluxe Hostel.
