Fantastic service, friendly and fun. Great and I mean great food by foodie standards and a wine list the is epic. Sit outside if you can and take your time. Top 5 eats on our foodie trip of Amalfie coast.

“Highly recommended”

Everything you could ask for in a Michelin star restaurant. Excellent food, great wines, attentive service, and beautiful location in the cellar. In fact the cellar environment and ambience is very special and worth the visit alone.

In fact not much more to say but forget your money worries for an evening, forget the average food that you get everwhere else and enjoy, indulge and treat yourself to something special!

“Deserving of their Michelin star”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 April 2014

We enjoyed the 7-course "I Trust You" tasting experience at Il Buco. I expected good food, some novel approaches to traditional cuisine, and attentive service. Il Buco exceeded my expectations and then some.

First, the service. Our wait staff were friendly, engaging, and personable. They never hesitated to answer our questions on everything from the food to the experience of being rated by the Michelin reviewers. They took the time to explain each dish and wine, including the nuances of the "whys" for the pairings. And despite being fully booked, they allowed us time to photograph each and every wine (both sides of the bottle) as they poured.

Second, the atmosphere. There is a charming, cozy feel imparted by the vaulted stone ceilings and gentle candlelight. Adding to the experience, the head chef took a seat in a corner table and proceeded to enjoy his own food while he worked on emails and menus. Periodically, other chefs would emerge from the kitchen with a roast or sauce to be tasted. i enjoyed watching the masters execute their art, deftly indicating more seasoning or shooing away a veal that needed more time to cook. We were told that they were developing the menu for next season's menu. Good (unintentional) entertainment.

And finally, best of all, the food itself. Each dish was given careful consideration from visual appeal of the presentation to the exact finishing salts and garnishes to complement the flavors. The amuse bouche was a deep fried mini gnocchi served on a fresh puree - light, delicate, and definitely a mouth pleaser.

The next course consisted of a lobster trio. I found the lobster beignet and beer ice cream to be particularly creative. Following right on the heels of the lobster was a perfectly seared scallop served with a squid ink reduction. All the flavors of the sea in a beautifully executed dish.

Risotto topped with crispy bonito-like flakes was followed by homemade pasta. Beautiful seafood topped with a cauliflower puree was followed by a savory pork combination. And then the desserts....yes, that's right, desserts plural.

I could never do the flavors justice by writing about them. I can only encourage people in the strongest of ways to experience Il Buco.

“Amaaaazing!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 April 2014

We went for our Wedding Anniversary as a treat, and boy was it a treat.
We went for the tasting menu with the matching wines, and it was fabulous. Peppe (the chef) came out to discuss what we wanted in the tasting menu, and tailored it to our likes and dislikes. Gaetano and Michele looked after all the guests with a level of enthusiasm and service that was spot on, and Chef came out on a regular basis to check that everyone was OK and happy with their food.
The food was divine, and the wine was perfectly matched.
We will be back next time we are in Sorrento!

“Great Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 April 2014

My wife and I wanted to splurge and treat ourselves to an upscale dinner with local food and wine. We each got the tasting menu with the chef's choice of courses. The food was excellent and included dishes I had never had before and items that I normally wouldn't choose. We each loved the food. The wine was very good as well. The sommelier introduced us to natural wines that paired perfectly with our meal.
The service was great. They were warm, helpful, and spoke English. The ambience was very nice and we enjoyed our romantic evening.
The meal was not cheap, but we approached the meal like the Europeans do. We took our time and really appreciated the experience. There was no rush and we enjoyed every minute of it.
