“The Place To Stay in Sorrento”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 October 2011

We preferred an apartment to a hotel while in Sorrento, and we couldn't have picked a better location. The apartment was nicely decorated, clean, spacious and comfortable. It had everything you could need. I would definitely recommend it.

For those who are light sleepers, you might find the noise from the street below, a bit too much. This didn't bother me.

Sorrento is an excellent base for exploring the Amalfi coast etc. This apartment was in the heart of town and it was handy for all public transports. The rooms were well appointed and pleasant, furnishing near new. We arrived on Easter Sunday and so the reception wasn't open. We had to ring a number but Roberto came within 10 mins. He spent a good length of time walking us thru everything - a kind guy. Note that they don't do room service if you stay for less than a week (not that it worried us).

The only drawback was that the hair dryer wasn't fully functional. For a woman, this wasn't trivial!

Ah...there is this hugely popular gelato cafe only a few shops away from the apartment on Corso Italia, not far from the town square. Check it out. It became part of our daily diet during our stay.

We had the two bedroom with kitchenette - which was fine for our family of five, the eldest son slept on the sofa bed. The location is great - the balconies overlook the main street. The rooms are a good size, the kitchenette is one of those Ikea cupboards with a sink, fridge and two hot plates, with a microwave elsewhere.
Wi-fi was a bit weak - our 11 year old son spent alot of time with his face to the corner of the room as that was the best wifi reception!
Parking in Sorrento is a bit of a nightmare - expect to pay 20-30E a day. Also get yourself a roadmap before you go - our car hire people did not provide one and the Italians seem reluctant to clearly sign the roads!

We stayed at Corso Italia Suites for 5 nights. We were a group of 9 made up of two families. We had two apartments that shared the same entrance door - which was absolutely perfect for us. The staff were great - although we didn't have a lot to do with them during our stay. The rooms were good - but a little noisy (especially the 7:20am bells). Then again, what can you expect when you are so wonderfully located! My daughter found the sofa bed uncomfortable and ended up just sleeping on the sofa. Great wireless internet.
One of our party had an accident AFTER we had left the apartment and were boarding the ferry. As a result we had to stay longer in Sorrento - departing late afternoon. It was pouring with rain. Daniella from Corso Italia Suites kindly offered us the use of a room for the day. Now THAT's service. We were extremely grateful.

We stayed in a two bedroom apartment and enjoyed the stay. There was a problem with the shower going cold (after 2 showers) on the first morning. Considering we were four in the apartment, this was rather anoying. We mentioned it to the management and all was well for the rest of the stay - 5 days. The location is very central but be prepared for some traffic noise and the the church bells espacially at the weekends!.

Overall, I would recomend this place.

I stayed in an apartment for 3 nights with friends. I was very please with the size of the apartment -- 1 large bedroom, 1 bathroom, a living room/kitchen. My friends slept in the bedroom and I took the sofa bed. The pull out couch was surprisingly comfy, already made with clean, crisp sheets and there were plenty of extra pillows and blankets. Air conditioning worked great and kept the room nice and cool. It was a treat to return to after a day out in the warm sun. We enjoyed the mini kitchen. We bought breakfast at a little market and kept it in the fridge. A huge money saver in an otherwise expensive town. A cappuccino and brioche in Sorrento could cost upwards of 10-euro. We self catered for about 2-euro per person for all 3 mornings!

The location is wonderful, right on the Corso Italia. Just a 10 minute walk from the main train station with tons of cute shops and good restaurants right outside the door.

Our only complaint was the shower. This was quite possibly the worst shower I've ever used in my life! The shower head, shaped like a square, is mounted on the ceiling and sprays in every direction. As a result, you can't get out of the water spray. It was constantly spraying in our eyes and forcing us against the wall or shower door. (No matter how clean a hotel is, I still never want to touch the wall or door while showering.) It'd be such an easy fix to just replace the shower head. I really, really hope the hotel reads this and makes the inexpensive investment. After a long, hot day when we returned to the room sweaty and gross, all we wanted was a nice, long shower.

The hot water ALWAYS ran out as well before the 3 of us could shower. We even showered mid-afternoon (to avoid the morning rush) and waited 15-20 minutes between showers in hopes of replenishing the hot water. All to no avail. The water always went cold in the middle of the 2nd shower. In a room intended for 3+ people, I'd have hoped there would be a suitable hot water heater.

Overall, good stay though. We enjoyed the apartment and especially Sorrento, Capri and Pompeii!

Hello,
thanks for the nice comment and to help us, through your recommendations, to resolve any issue can be linked to the apartments.
This gives us the opportunity to make a better stay of next customers. We just organized the replacement of the defective showerhead and the testing of boilers.
Thanks for your support

Very easy to get to. Walk from train station. This apartment is great home base for day trips to Pompei, Mt. Vesuvious, Amalfia, Positano and our favorite Capri. If you go to Capri, hire private boat to do tour around island. They will let you swim, etc. skip blue grooto, not worth wait and $$. But swim thru green grotto... Awesome. The private boat cost us $110 euro, but was less expensive and better than organized tour. Also you must go to Anacapri at end of day to do chair lift. Very easy to get to. Take bus to Anacapri and chair lift is straight in front. Best view of entire 3 weeks in Italy. Stayed with our two children ages 9 and 11. ask for the apartment with view over Corso Italia. At night this road closes and it was great to stand up there with bottle of wine and watch everybody go by. Only negative of this place is kitchen was a joke. Actually a cobinet by Ikea that is itchen. Also they did not provide dishwashing soap. So you wonder how clean dishes were. This should be a basic item included. Bathroom clean and plenty of hot water. great wireless internet, bring your alptop to skype with friends and show live video of great view of Corso Italia. They have an ant problem in kitchen that hopefully get dealt with. Our table and kitchen was covered with them.
