“Great views, better location”
Reviewed 14 August 2011

We stayed here for 2 nights, wish it had been 3. The views from the rooftop terrace are great, especially at night. The Breakfast was OK with pastries. The location here is perfect, its only steps away from the "beaches" and St. Antonio. The rooms seem to have been recently renovated and were very clean. There was a very useful air conditioner in the room, as well as a safe and small refrigerator. The owner was very friendly. Definitely a good stay if you want to be near the main sights and beaches. It is up a few flights of stairs but as long you are physically capable it is not a problem whatsoever. The free Wifi was a great touch when trying to plan our days activities.

Great Location for seeing all the sights in Sorrento.Short walk to everywhere.Owners were wonderful and couldn't help us enough. Breakfast was normal fare for Italy. Views from the B&B were beautiful. All & All a great Value. Only drawback, alot of stairs , but if you are fit, there should be no problem. I would reccommend this B&B highly. We had a great time.

We stayed at the Belvedere Sorrento Hotel for a couple of nights with another couple - very close friends from the US that we met for one leg of their tour across Italy.

First the negatives (but please read on for the positives, too!): There were a few minor things that were broken or needed repairing in our room (though our friends' room didn't have any issues) - a clock with a hole in the face, the shade for the skylight, and the shower door (though to be fair, the landlady did try to explain as soon as we arrived that her husband was trying to fix it and he may not have had the chance before we checked in). The shower head also could have done with a bit of a descale to allow the water to spray better. Upstairs on the roof terrace, one of the two wooden sunbeds was broken and if anyone had put any weight on it, it surely would have fallen apart. This is a family run place, so understandable that things can get missed with so much work to do, but it's those small details that often make the difference (in perceived value anyway).

Now for the positives :). Our bed was very comfortable and everything was cool, clean and ready for us upon check-in, and the landlady was friendly. The rooms are several floors up in an older building with no lift (be aware if you have trouble with stairs), so they had a little electronic pulley to hoist our bags up to the balcony - very entertaining and resourceful, but our friends opted to carry their laptop bag up themselves...just in case.

The hotel itself is in a fantastic central location (a short walk from the train station if you're traveling by train) and the rooftop terrace with its little table and chairs was a relaxing shared space to enjoy with our traveling companions. We had our breakfast up there together each day, and in the evenings, pulled out a bottle of white or prosecco that we'd left chilling in the kitchen's fridge, and toasted the sun setting over Sorrento and Vesuvius before heading to dinner.

I also really liked having the kitchen set up for a do-it-yourself breakfast. We mainly took advantage of the juice, coffee and yogurt provided and brought in a few things we prefer to toast or cereal (amazing sweet cannoli at this wild gelateria just around the corner on the main touristy shopping street, and good fruit stands for cherries, etc).

We spent most of our waking hotel-spent time up on the terrace, and it was so lovely that I would certainly opt to stay here again. Especially given the good location and reasonable room rate each night - noteworthy in a town as expensive as Sorrento. I just hope the owners pay a bit more attention to the maintenance side of things in future and fix or replace those things that need it - if they'd had everything in order for our stay I probably would have given this place top marks.

My husband and I chose this B and B solely based on the great trip advisor reviews and we were really disappointed. Yes the location is fantastic, right in the centre of Sorrento, however, the almost complete lack of signs, even when inside the stairwell of the buidling made it very awkward to find initially. As described by other people, our bedroom was recently renovated, but the shower was quite poor. Our DIY breakfast was rubbish. All the food was just left out from the previous day, nothing fresh and there was barely enough milk to make a coffee. I do not expect to have to wash my own crockery and cutlery when paying 70 Euros per night.

More of a bed and breakfast than hotel, the Sorrento Belvedere is kind of hard to find! Two steps from Piazza Tasso and about a 7 min. walk from the train station, it was a perfect location. But after we found the building, we couldn't find where the frontdesk was! That's because there is none. The hotel is on the second level of this family's house. So once you find the building, go up the stairs on the last floor and follow the arrow that says Sorrento Belevedere on it. The room was fine, clean and the breakfast kitchen is self-serve, which you can use anytime. We liked everything except that it felt like we were sleeping in somebody's house and there was no frontdesk. So whenever we wanted something, we had to knock on their door. But they were friendly and we enjoyed our stay.

Location fantastic (main street sorrento), room clean and newly renovated on to floor, beautiful view of the sea, close to everything.

Only one things: breakfast is not served, but you gave a kitchen where you can cook your own one.

No lift available to reach 4th floor. Not a problem for us, but bear it in mind.

My friend and I stayed here just one night, but l was quite taken with this place - the skylights in the rooms in particular are great for natural light and fresh air. The beds felt a little more like camp beds rather than hotel beds, but were fine.

The owner, Paola, was lovely, and we watched in fascination (and with some trepidation, I must admit) as our bags were winched to the top of the building where the B&B is. But no fear, the system is sound!

The B&B is up several flights of stairs, and there is no lift, so bear this in mind if this will be a problem for you.

The information we had through booking.com said that breakfast was not provided, but there were some packaged items, help-yourself tea and coffee etc in the little kitchen, and a fridge you could put your own things in for breakfast.

The bathroom was spacious and clean, the only problem we had was the hot water ran out in the morning when my friend was showering, so I heard yelps from the bathroom!

I loved the view from the rooftop balcony, going up there at sunset, at night, and in the morning!

Anything in Sorrento is within walking distance, including a number of places to eat. We went to Il Pozzo, which was recommended by other travelers we met in the laundrette and which was good.

I'm not sure if it was the location or the position of the B&B at the top of the building, but this place was nice and QUIET, and I had one of my best sleeps of a six week trip here.
