This review only relates to the self-catering rooms which are in a separate building a few doors down from the main part of the hotel. These rooms don't appear to be advertised on their website but are available.

Positives: A central location and a comfortable room. Supermarket across the road. The room is quite safe and secure. Staff helpful when asked.
Negatives: The self-catering rooms are nothing like the pictures of the rooms advertised on the website. Very old in appearance and first look can be a bit of a shock. A sign on the room advises the hours when the room is serviced, however as we later found out, it is serviced every third day. There was some confusion about whether breakfast was included with a self-catered room. Also the shower stall is very, very small. An average size adult has enough room to get in but not move. The access stairs are dimly lit and the switches difficult to find: we had to carry a torch.

There's no wifi in the annex but we were able to get all the access we needed in the main part of the hotel.

It ended up being a comfortable base for our week in Sorrento however it would have been better if we had known the conditions beforehand. This review is not a comment on the main building which appears to be as modern and clean as the website suggests.

What an amazing stay in Sorrento & what an amazing hotel! Palazzo Abagnale is listed as a b&b, but don't let this put you off! It is like a boutique hotel with gorgeous, spacious and modern rooms! We stayed on the black & white floor and it was fab! The rooms were spotlessly clean and had everything we needed (large TV, beautiful bathroom, fridge), with the rooms at the front of the hotel benefitting from a balcony overlooking the main street and square.

The staff were fanstastic from start to finish. They arranged our transfer from the airport to the hotel and back to the airport for our return flight home. They gave us loads of advice on places to go and directions and we on hand to answer any queries. They even allowed us to leave our fancy dress outfits at the hotel and dispose of them for us (6 1970's style wedding dresses, as we were on a hen do!!)

A fantastic hotel, in a fantastic location, with fantastic staff- I'd definately recommend the Palazzo Abagnale!!

Room Tip: Rooms at the front overlook the main street, with a balcony, but are noisier than rooms at the back...

The rooms are nice and clean, every day they prepare it like on the first day. We were in one room 2 adults and 2 children, and the room was enough big for us. The breakfast is delicious and fresh (bread, cuts, ham, cheese, jams, nutella, honey, very good quality croissants, yoghurt, coffee, tea, 2 kinds of fruit juices). You can ask any kind of coffee and they prepare for You separately. The staff is very helpful and extreemly kind. The Location is perfect, on the main square, 5 minutes walk the central train and bus station, 10 minutes walk the ship harbour to Capri, the Supermarket is just on the opposite site. We stayed for a week with children, and there was nothing to complain, only positive experience! Perfect value for money.

Room Tip: We were in the green room, and we can suggest this:)

We travelled to Sorrento as the last leg of our Italian honeymoon and couldnt have asked for a better hotel to end in. Centrally located on the main road of town and only a couple of minutes walk from the train station. There is a lift up to the rooms, or an outside stairwell which has seating to look out over the main street. Our room was a good size and spotless with our 1st digital cable tv of our journey. A fantastic black and white tiled bathroom with windows looking out towards Mt Vesuvius! Very friendly staff(particularly the owner) whom we met on checking out. We stayed for 5 nights off season and it was extremely quiet considering it was right in the centre of town. There was the option of breakfast which we had most mornings, although you had to get down to eat fast as the food disappeared quickly! That was our only(slight) disappointment, but for only 5euros, you cant really complain. Overall,we would highly recommend this hotel, and would definately return.

Room Tip: rooms at the rear would be quieter in high season

So close to the train station (Circumvesuviana) - just a short stroll down the main street. Right at your door step are restaurants, shops and a supermarket. Easy train or bus access to Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast. We had a large twin room, black and white theme and the largest hotel bathroom I have ever seen (third floor I think). Fantastic hotel, we would stay here again!

Steps from Plaza Tasso. Hotel is on the 2nd floor and up. We stayed in the 'Light' room, 2nd floor overlooking the main street (lots of people watching). Room was very large and clean; same for the bathroom. The shower in this room does need a holder so you can stand under it instead of holding it. The owner, Alex, was very friendly and helpful; giving hints about what to see, the best way to see them ("go by boat instead of bus" etc.). Would be happy to stay there again.

Room Tip: It's above a men's clothing store. At first it was hard to find.

Our first night they put us in a TINY room under a stairway so that the people going up looked down onto our bed - the bathroom fixtures barely worked - I think it was their "overflow room" because they had overbooked. They apologized for it ahead of time and assured us we would be moved to a nice room the next morning. The second room was much bigger and ORANGE all over - very 60's retro - even the bathroom (which worked and was modern) was blinding orange. This room faced the main street going through Sorrento, (which was one big English party) and partygoers did not quiet down till 1:00 am or so for the next two nights we were there. It was very noisy (with the AC turned off in mid September, we had to keep the doors open to the little balcony regardless of the noise). Also the bed was VERY hard - big, but like a rock. The breakfast was something to put in your tummy - like a Holiday Inn Express. Overall it was budget - ok - costing $185./night. The location suited us fine since each day we walked just four blocks to the train station to get the circumvisuvia to the archealogical sites. You can walk everywhere in Sorrento - it is safe, clean, beautiful, and full of English tourists - like Italy goes Disneyland. I might stay hear again just because of the price.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the street are NOISY all night. Be sure not to get the super tiny room under the stair...
