“Serenity in the heart of the Medieval Town - Impeccible”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 August 2011

We have just come back from a holiday in Italy, starting in Sorrento and ending in Rome. For our Sorrento visit, we chose this hotel because of its central location, and previous tripadvisor reviews.

The service at this hotel is second to none. The staff (particularly Giovanni and Maria) are dedicated to providing the utmost care and attention to ensure you are catered for with a personal, yet highly professional, touch. There is genuine commitment to ensuring that your holiday is made the best it possibly could be - truly 5 star.

The hotel itself is like a Tardis of peace(!), when entering from the busy, narrow, Medieval street. You can find a real ambiance, relaxing at leisure in the quiet inner sanctum of the hotel. As you can see from the images of the hotel, the breakfast room is an enchanting and stunning room, which wows you every time. There is also a roof terrace where you can relax and enjoy the Sun.

We had a room in the roof, which had a balcony with a view of Vesuvius - and a jacuzzi bath, which provided welcome relief after a day in Pompeii! We chose to enjoy being central to Sorrento, enjoying Sea Views during our trips around Sorrento (particularly the amazing Amalfi Coast).

So, the hotel provides a unique blend of quiet and central position, scrupulously clean, stunning original art, with the most attentive and heart-warming service....

Perfecto!

We are just back from a 2.5 week trip to Italy. We stayed in 8 hotels during our stay and Maison Tofani was the nicest most welcoming place we stayed. The room was beautiful and clean. The staff made us feel like we were the most special guest they had. The breakfasts were also the best of our trip. We loved sitting on the balcony watching the crowds below, but the room was nice and quiet when we chose to sleep in. We will be back! Save us a room!

I travelled to Italy with my wife in early August, and stayed at the Maison Tofani for 6 nights. Without a doubt, our stay here and our time in Sorrento was the highlight of our trip. The hotel is located in the middle of town, making it easy to get anywhere quickly. The rooms are modern and nicely decorated with all the amenities you’d expect in a major hotel chain. (WiFi, LCD TV, Hair Dryer, etc) Staying somewhere clean is always important to my wife and I, and the Maison Tofani didn’t disappoint. As with everything in the hotel, the rooms are extremely clean. They were actually giving us new towels and doing a quick cleaning with turn down service in the afternoon as well. Breakfast was always great with cereal, toast/pastries, fruit, eggs, and yogurt, and held in a stunning dining room where you could eat inside or out.
The only thing that outdoes the quality of the hotel are the people that work there. Maria was very welcoming to everyone that was staying there and made us feel like part of the family. Also, as it seems a few people have mentioned, we too are members of the Giovanni fan club. As someone who has spent a considerable amount of time travelling on business, I’ve never run into such a friendly and helpful individual. Giovanni knows everyone and not only helped us with scooter rental, and places to go up and down the Amalfi coast, but also with restaurants in Capri after our stay ended, and then called us at our next hotel to make sure we didn't need anything else. Giovanni’s passionate about his job, and takes "making your stay first class" personally. Not meeting Giovanni at the Maison Tofani would be missing the spirit and charm of Sorrento.
Giovanni – thanks for making our trip to Italy so great.

Maison Tofani is a charmingly beautiful and magnificent hotel tucked away in one of Sorrento's most sought-after streets! Not only were the rooms exquisite, but the service was outstanding! Giovanni Fiorentino (the proprietor) was exceptional. We arrived unannounced a day earlier than scheduled to discover the hotel was booked. Giovanni told us not to worry and booked us in another five star hotel for two nights until a room opened up two days later at Maison Tofani. His service did not end there. Although we were staying at another hotel for two nights, he booked all of our excursions and hotels for us: a boat ride to Capri, bus tickets to Rome, a room at the St. Regis in Rome, reservations for lunch and dinner at top-notch restaurants in Sorrento, and even a visit to his uncle's upscale furniture store (for which we received a generous discount on the items we purchased). We were treated like family and were made to feel at home. Giovanni went above and beyond what was expected of him and he made our trip effortless and easy.

The rooms were spectacular and spacious, marked by flawless craftsmanship. Each room leads to a beautiful courtyard. The baths are enormous and beautifully tiled and the rooms are large, comfortable, and tastefully decorated - and immaculate. Tempurpedic mattresses and pillows grace the beds. Every detail in the hotel was thought out. We had our best sleep of the week at the Maison Tofani!

We cannot say enough about the accommodations, the service, and the proprietor, Giovanni Fiorentino, who made our stay in Sorrento a delightful one, filled with laughter, good food, good wine, and good fun!!! We now have another place to call home - Maison Tofani!

We will definitely return!!! Thankyou Giovanni!!!!

Room Tip: All the rooms are gorgeous, spacious, finely decorated and immaculate!!!

Maison Tofani/Sorrento was absolutely amazing & breathtaking! In the heart of Sorrento, this quaint hotel is beautifully & elegantly decorated with exquisite architecture from the 18th century. The Maison Tofani has balconies in the rooms so that you can watch the people as they shop and dine, and you can hear an accordion playing your favorite Italian tunes. We were welcomed by the staff as if we had been there dozens of times. We definitely will return!

My buddy and I had such a great time in Sorrento and at the Maison Tofani Hotel. Giovanni the concierge was the most helpful concierge we have ever met! Not only did he help us get on an already sold out tour to Capri but he helped us get a rental car and gave us some great travel advice. The hotel is absolutely stunning with spacious, luxurious rooms. If I ever get a chance to go back to Sorrento I will definitely stay at the Maison Tofani! Thanks again Giovanni!

My husband and I traveled 12 time zones from Hawaii to attend a wedding. Needless to say, by the time we got to Italy we were exhausted. We arrived in Rome and took the train to Naples. Deciding we were too tired to catch another train to Sorrento, I called the hotel from the train to see if they could set up a car service to meet us in Naples and take us to the hotel. The driver met us on the platform and took us on the almost one hour ride to the hotel. The driver stayed in touch with hotel and arranged to have us met in the nearest square (you cannot drive right to the hotel because of its historic location - tucked away on a charming pedestrian only allyway) Giovanni, the hotel manager, met us and swiftly took our luggage and us to the hotel. We were warmly greeted and shown our room. When Ii mentioned that i was ready for a glass of wine, Giovanni brought two glasses to our room along will some nuts.
The room was large, clean, comfortable and overlooked the ally which is a wonderfully busy place with lots of shops and restaurants.
Breakfast the next day is in a beautiful room with an amazing fresco. The food was very good, traditional European breakfast.
Giovanni seems to work crazy long hours as he was always there if we needed something! His restaurant suggestions etc. were all very good.
When I spoke to him about our plans to leave Sorrento and head down the Amalfi coast, he steered us to a different hotel than the one we had originally booked. We had wanted to stay in Positano but could not find accomodations within our budget. He helped us cancel one hotel in another town and personally rebooked us in Positano at a lovely hotel.
Mason Tofani is lucky to have Giovanni!
Aloha, Julie
