we arrived at the hotel office a bit disappointed to learn they had overbooked our room and were shuttling us to another hotel during our anniversary trip; those in charge did a fabulous job and more than made up for the mixup with a complimentary one night's stay in a sister hotel and other little perks; the room we eventually stayed at maison tofani was adorable, with an old feel with some modern additions; the room was very spacious, as was the bathroom, but was able to maintain a personal touch; the street it's on is in a great location; the staff was beyond helpful and gracious and more than made up for the overbooking; it was a great stay.

Our trip to the Amalfi coast was made most memorable from our stay at the Maison Tofani. A beautiful villa where we were treated like family. Perfectly located in the centre of town, we were only minutes to everything. Giovanni in particular was so welcoming, we had never experience such down to earth friendly hospitality. We highly recommend this lovely place for all who visit Sorrento. It is an experience to "experience". Thanks Giovanni!!!

If you are looking to be treated like "la famiglia" (family) in an Italian villa which is luxurious, yet unpretentious, then this is the place to stay in Sorrento. My husband and I just returned from spending a week in Sorrento and had the pleasure of staying at Maison Tofani.

Centrally located, it was the perfect place for us. Maria (the owner) and Giovanni (the manager) took wonderful care of us. After doing a lot of research on the internet, we chose to stay in the town center. We never missed the views of the ocean, because we were within walking distance to shops, restaurants, the port (for ferries to Naples and the Amalfi coast) and the train to Pompeii, Herculaneum, Naples and other locations. I met with several people who stayed above the town center and although pretty, they were disappointed that they needed to wait for shuttle buses, walk extensively or pay for an expensive taxi to make the 10-15 minute trip each way to the town center. Every morning we were treated to the sounds of church bells in the distance, greeted by the local shop owners who came to know us each day and our appetites were satisfied with the very extensive breakfast provided in the "Four Continents" room or on the small terrace.

Little attentions to detail were everywhere - high quality monogrammed Italian linens on the bed, extensive soap and bathroom amenities, flowering plants in the common areas, double doors on windows - (our room was quiet on a side street), impeccably clean surroundings (the 15 foot curtains were clean and every piece of grout in our bathroom was spotless), a doorbell outside the room, a safe with a key, high quality hangers in the closet, handpainted tiles on our bedroom floor, and thick soft towels for bathing and beach use.

When was the last time you had your breakfast presented on silver in a large buffet display? I enjoy cooking and baking Italian food with family recipes so I can appreciate quality. At Maison Tofani the morning pastries were delectable - the pastry chef does an outstanding job - we enjoyed the traditional ricotta cheesecake and several tortes with fruits, almonds and chocolate. The fruit is ripe and extensive - not only did we enjoy the typical late summer selections like peaches, nectarines and pineapples, but also cactus prickly pears, persimmons, fresh figs and miniature strawberries. Beverages included individually prepared coffee or tea, frizzante or naturale water and homemade pressed juices and nectars. There was usually a choice of an egg dish, a variety of cheeses, and Italian cold cuts. A selection of cereals and yogurts were also provided. Any toast or sweet rolls were accompanied by eight different Italian preserves and Italian honey.

A rooftop terrace for relaxing and suntanning with an open-air shower is available as well as hotel access/membership to the ocean (a short distance away) but we never had a chance to do so -- will have to try on another trip when we return.

In today's world where there is generally a lack of customer service, it is refreshing to find everyone at Maison Tofani servicing their guests. Giovanni will guide you to the restaurants and give directions to any sightseeing you may need -- his advice to take the boats to Positano, Amalfi (with a bus up to Ravello) and ferry back to Sorrento saved a lot of money and stressful driving. He gave honest advice and was very helpful with planning many of our trips. Maria, as the owner, takes pride in her family villa/hotel. She also strives to make everyone happy and even purchased some special baking ingredients for me which I couldn't find in the USA. We were also fortunate to be greeted by Gettano, Maria in the Europa room, Olga, and many others. They get to know your needs and your preferences without being invasive.

Maison Tofani is a great place for relaxing on a vacation or celebrating (fabulous yet intimate for an anniversary or wedding.) What a hidden jem in Sorrento!! Grazie mille, Maison Tofani for a fabulous stay. We highly recommend Trip Advisors readers to book early and book directly with the hotel.

My husband and I stayed at Maison Tofani for a portion of our honeymoon. We loved the place, the room had an old world charm and the staff were excellent. Giovanni went above and beyond for us from the beginning. He arranged a private car for us when our flight was delayed and managed to have someone greet us at Maison Tofani at 3am! Maria took good care of us at breakfast (when we managed to get up!) and made us a special lemon cake for our honeymoon. Everything was just lovely we truly had a wonderful time.

Everything about this hotel is great. Centrally located in Sorrento on a pedestrianized street, the hotel has staff that cater for your every need. Giovanni recommended a nice place to quickly grab some lunch and also when to visit Pompeii in our short stay. The room itself was very spacious with a very comfortable bed and large bathroom that was well equipped. The wooden ceilings gave the room a lovely feel of warmth. They also have a link up with one of the "beach clubs" on the front to compensate for a lack of pool.

I travelled with my parents to Sorrento to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. We stayed in the Maison Tofani for 1 week and had a fantastic stay. This small, family run hotel was in a great central location. The original features, high ceilings, frescos, tiles, wood ceilings gave us the feeling of old Sorrento luxury. Maria (owner) and Giovanni (manager) were so helpful and welcoming - from sorting out private taxi transportation from Naples train station, to recommending and booking restaurants, to booking tennis courts at a local club, to helping us get to Pompeii and Capris etc. Our private balcony, and communal areas (including a great roof terrance) made lounging around the hotel equally fantastic. Only thing missing was a gym to help work off the excellent breakfast. We will return!

Room Tip: Suite or superior rooms with balcony

My husband and I flew in to Sorrento for one night to visit our favourite restaurant and like to try different places when we visit...this hotel was beautiful! A new hotel in a great central location with an element of old Sorrento charm and a very welcoming atmosphere - Giovanni was extremely helpful and his attention to detail made our unfortunately short stay very enjoyable indeed and we will certainly be back! We booked the 'loft room' which was lovely we just wished we had more time.

Room Tip: the loft room was great and think there is only 2
