“Lovely apartment”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 June 2013

Just returned from a great week in Sorrento. We stayed in the Antica Palazzo Scala apartments (no 2) and they were lovely, well furnished, sparking clean and Daniela was very helpful both before and during our visit. I would recommend the apartment which was also a reasonable price.

Room Tip: Try to get one with an outdoor seating area, we couldn't as we booked a bit late and there were...

We stayed in this apartment (number 4) for 9 nights. The best thing about it is its location as it is situated in the pedestrian part of the town which has real character and charm. The apartment was spotlessly clean and nicely furnished. It is also really nicely laid out and one of the huge pluses is small terrace which looks over the roof tops to the cliffs behind the town; great for a meal and a drink after a day of sightseeing. We had booked this apartment through Summer in Italy who were very communicative and we also found Daniela and Pina, who we dealt with at the apartment, helpful and polite. There are, however, a couple of things which stopped us giving it 5 stars, and perhaps if we had not already stayed in 2 other apartments we would not have been disappointed by these issues. This is actually a small 'apartment hotel' as there are 6 apartments in total. Although there is absolutely no onus on the owners to supply any basic foodstuffs, given what we had found in other apartments, we felt the total absence of this lacked a sense of 'hospitality'; international travellers find it hard to tote salt, pepper, oil etc and it would cost the owners so little to buy these basics in bulk and supply them in each apartment. We were also travelling with iPads and there was very poor wifi access - only in the foyer and very unreliable. We were told this issue was being addressed next year. Those things aside we enjoyed our time here and would certainly recommend it. Also visit the restaurant Le Grazie which is just downstairs. We visited this a few times and enjoyed great food and excellent service.

We were a group of 2 couples and stayed here in August 2012 at the height of a very hot summer. The apartment was very spacious and well furnished - and thankfully the air conditioning worked extremely well! It is in a great location - no problem walking to the train station or bus stop from there. We were in apartment 1, and the bedrooms were up a narrow spiral staircase-the suitcases were a bit of a pain to get up and down. If there were any mobility issues, I would suggest one of the ground floor apartments-however we are in our 50's and had no problem.

Room Tip: If you have mobility issues make sure you get a ground floor apartment as the spiral staircase needs...

My son and I stayed here in September 2012 and it was a fantastic location, clean, friendly staff and a great base for our adventures. Daniela was also great with advice prior to our arrival. strongly advice this over a tourist hotel in this area. No complaints at all, great product and value. Also the restaurant directly below is good classic italian (for us tourists), but make sure you tell them you are staying upstairs, they will look after you.

Room Tip: Choose not directly above the restaurant if early sleepers as it goes tlll midnight with the usual s...

We enjoyed our stay in this tastefully renovated 18th Century Building. The lemon tree in the neighbours garden full of fresh fruit was very tempting but out of reach. We felt very comfortable there and were in walking distance of the bus and train stations, which we could utilize and take in the sights of the outlying attractions. Sorrento is certainly a city for strollers The amalfi coast is one of continuous beauty. Daniela our hostess was very approachable and helpful. Prior to leaving Canada we requested through Daniela a pick up from the airport. Our driver brought us directly to the door and returned us to the airport at the end of our holiday. A great service. Since arriving home we have recommended Antico Palazza Scala to all of our travelling friends. George and Annelies.

Room Tip: Even though in the heart of Sorrento it was very quiet and I would imagine the other five apartments...

When we are travelling the Amalfi coast we always stay in Sorrento at Antico Palazzo Scala. It is centrally located and within easy walking distance of the train station and the port. We have stayed in different units on each visit and they all meet or exceed our expectations. Very clean and well maintained. Small but totally functional kitchens if you want to do your own cooking. Comfortable beds. Excellent communication with Daniela. We have recommended her apartments to all that ask about where to stay in Sorrento.

We always stay at Antico Palazzo Scala when we are in Sorrento, which is often (about 3 times a year) and we refuse to stay anywhere else.

Given that I have a 3 year old son, an apartment is always the most comfortable option. What we love about Antico Palazzo Scala is its amazing location right in the heart of Sorrento, near the sea and shops. Also, all apartments are furnished in wonderful Italian style and have all the facilities required.

I have stayed in Apartments 2, 4 and 6 and these are all my favourites especially apartment 2 with its four poster bed!

I would highly recommend this place if you are staying in Sorrento. You will not be disappointed.
