Thank you for staying at our hotel and for sharing your experience. We are so delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay!. We are equally pleased that our staff made such a favorable impression. Thank you once again for your recommendation and I look forward to hosting you again in future!
I have just returned after spending 5 nights at this hotel and had a wonderful stay there. The views across the Bay of Naples from the restaurant and terrace are terrific.
The hotel is well run and the manager and his staff were extremely helpful and go the extra mile to ensure you enjoy yourself. They even drove our friends back to their hotel in the next village after they had dined with us.
The restaurant serves home cooked local food and the price of food and drink is cheaper than in the town. The rooms were clean comfortable and spacious and I would recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of visiting Sorrento.
Thank you so much for selecting our hotel for your recent visit and for writing such a nice review. I was happy to hear you enjoyed our hotel and our restaurant. It's always a pleasure for us to help our guests, and we try to do our best day bay day.
We hope to see you many times again in the future.
I spent four nights at Il Nido Hotel in May 2014, and have mixed feelings. On the positive side, the view of the bay, of Sorrento and of Vesuvius is magnificent, especially in early morning and at sunset. The view is from the outside area of the restaurant and some, but not all, of the rooms. The restaurant is excellent, both the breakfast and for dinner. The people staffing the hotel are very nice and helpful. The prices are affordable, a good value. The shuttle van runs about hourly in the morning, from 8 a.m., and from mid-afternoon until late evening. The nonstop trip to central Sorrento runs right on schedule and takes about ten minutes, unless traffic causes delays. On the con side, my room and section of the hotel, while adequate, were very ordinary, even seemed a little worn. Also, several times I found my schedule defined by the van schedule, which did not always fit my needs or preferences.

After a lot of train travel to Sorrento, we were so pleased to reach this hotel. It was a bit confusing trying to find the pick-up point for the complimentary shuttle however. Dragging luggage through downtown Sorrento was a little daunting having passed the correct turn for the pick-up point. Be sure to get a map or ask for instructions prior to arrival. The shuttle is a fantastic service as the hotel is up on the mountainside and not within walking distance to town. That is what makes it so exceptional though - the view cannot be beat overlooking town, the bay and Mt. Vesuvius!
The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel is family owned and operated (for nearly 50 years I think) and has a great legacy with it's restaurant as well. We ended up eating at the hotel both nights we were there. You can dine on the terrace or indoors, both with stunning views of the sunset and Mt. Vesuvius. The food was excellent and the morning buffet was the best ever with many choices. The pastries were amazing!
Do not expect ultra modern amenities here; this is an older hotel, clean & simple. My only observation for improvement was the mattress on our bed-not the most comfortable but adequate. We tend to be spoiled by lux bedding at large American hotel brands!
We would return to this hotel in a heartbeat! I felt like I was on my second honeymoon here!
Thank you very much for taking the time to share you experience and for staying with us.

We arrived in Sorrento at the Circumvesuviana Train Station around 3:30 p.m. and took a taxi to the hotel. We had gotten detailed instructions on where to go to pick up the shuttle to the hotel, but we were tired and with luggage, so just took a cab which was 25 Euros. Check-in was easy, the staff very friendly. We got a list of possible tours from the hotel and booked one to Capri the next morning. Our room, 179, was down a long hallway on what looks to be an addition. The view from our room and the balcony was spectacular- overlooking Mt. Vesuvius, Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast. The hotel isn't located in downtown Sorrento, but about a 10 minute drive up the hill. We had a drink in the dining room at sunset- highly recommended. There is also a bar to have drinks. The hotel itself, in some spots, is a little dated and run down but the excellent staff's welcoming attitude and the view, more than make up for this fact. Our room (179) was quite large, had a mini-fridge, safe, closet and hair dryer. The floor was tile (a little cold on the feet), the bathroom pre-fab shower (which seems to be common in Italy), the towels were waffle weave type and there was a shampoo/bath gel combo (no conditioner). The bedspread were a little flimsy, but the air conditioning worked great. The hotel is quite large, there is a huge downstairs area where a washer/dryer and iron and ironing board are located. Breakfast was ample and delicious and they have a neat machine that you can put an orange in to make fresh orange juice. There was eggs, potatoes, fresh tomatoes, coffee, ham, salami, cheese, fruit and a ton of little pastries, including this hard cookie filled with ricotta that was delicious. We spent the day at Capri on the tour, which I don't recommend because it was about twice as much as taking the boat to Capri on your own, it left at 8 and returned at 6:30, which is really too long in Capri. Some of the people running the tour weren't very nice and you have to pay CASH, which they didn't mention ahead of time. The positive side is they pick you up at the hotel. I really loved this hotel, most of all because the staff- there were two brothers working together- was nice, helpful and friendly. The shuttle bus leaves every hour (I think) to go into downtown Sorrento, although it is tempting to just stay in the hotel and look at the view and, the day we left, we took the shuttle (with our luggage) and it dropped us at the train station. I paid 110 Euro per night.
you are a real super contributor. Let me say that you review is very complete! I'm always happy to read this kind of review as i'm sure that it helps us in improving our services, and on the other side helps our future guests too.
It's a pleasure to know that you enjoyed your stay, and appreciated also the small details like the o.j. machine!
We'll be looking forward to seeing again soon!
All the great reviews are true. A lovely, family-run hotel, where our group of females felt instantly at home. Great staff (not intrusive but always available and so helpful), views, breakfasts, evening meals (we could not bear to tear ourselves away in the evening the food was so excellent) and a great base for exploring Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast. Thank you Il Nido for making our visit so wonderful and for some lovely memories.
let me say that your review makes me so happy, because you really enjoyed everything here at hotel il Nido. You wrote "didn't want to leave", well, the only solution is to come back next year, and maby stay longer with us.
Thank you agai
