Hotel was a lovely surprise. View from the breakfast room and the balcony in our room was spectacular. Rooms were large and clean. Staff was friendly, helpful and spoke English. The only drawback was having to use a shuttle to town & back, although it was only an 8 minute ride. I believe it was alot quieter than staying in town. Downtown Sorrento was crowded & very touristy. The best find was a great restaurant just up the hill from the hotel called Don Pedro's. Great food, atmosphere, and the owner was very friendly and accommodating.

My husband and I recently stayed here for 3 nights. I can honestly say that his place is very disappointing. On the internet, it is very simple to make reservations, based on peoples reviews and a few pictures on the internet (keep in mind, the probably posted the best ones taken).

Here is the real deal! So, yes the do pick you up from the train station when you arrive. They say we'll be there in 5 minutes, it is more like 20. They pick you up in a shuttle bus and the driver is friendly. The dwn side is, waiting for this shuttle. Although they come pick you up, they have time restrictions, so check on that before you book. Also, they drive you down into town and pick you up, but that is hourly. So you basically are on THEIR CLOCK! There is no independancy as you are constantly watching the clock to make sure you time everything right.

We found that there are plenty of nice, and reasonably priced hotels in Sorrento near the main square. It is a HUGE PAIN to walk to the "MEETING POINT" after a nice dinner or day at Capri to catch the bus. It is not how we wanted to end the evenings. The "MEETING POINTS" were not conveniently located either. They were away from the main square, and at night, it can get scary.

Aside, from the transportation issues, the rooms were below average. The beds were awful - very uncomfortable. The room looked more of a hostel. There was absolutely no warmth to it. I am not asking for the RITZ - but come one - this was really pathetic.

I would CURSE every morning as I stepped into the shower which is about 1.5 ft by 1.5 ft. I am a small framed woman - but HATE more than anything - to brush up against dirty showers. There is no way I could shower, shave, move around in the shower without touching the NASTY NASTY walls of the shower. ALSO - A HUGE HUGE HUGE negative for me - the shower was nothing more than a trickle. The temperature would shift from freezing cold to scalding hot. There was absolutely no way I could shower with a drip drop as a shower. I assumed all of Europe was like this - since this was the first night of our trip. Later I realized, this is not the case.

The "so called breakfast" was funny tasting orange juice, stale pastries and croissants, and ham and cheese which was left out and had flies swarming around. We skipped it, and ate a real breakfast in town.

On our last day - we needed a ride to the train station early in the morning. Their route doesn't start until 8:30 a.m. which was too late for us. They didn't take us to the station and told us to catch the bus (which is a HUGE HIKE up the hill - WITH LUGGAGE).

The staff was not helpful, no smile, no friendliness.

There are 2 pros I can think of though - free internet (but there are time restrictions) and good views from the balcony. However, it is not worth the time wasted to get to the hotel every morning and night.

Would never stay there again - and HIGHLY recommend you not to either.

We three sisters stayed in a triple room here at the beginning of September and found it to be excellent. The room was actually large enough to comfortably hold three single beds--and the view is truly beautiful. Not luxurious but clean and fine and friendly. The food was delicious.
