We were lucky to have suffered the delays caused by the volcanic eruption in Iceland, lucky ….yes …because our flight home was twice delayed; we were able to stay at this lovely hotel longer than expected. From the moment we were collected in the hotel bus, by Nello this hotel exceeded our expectations. Dino is a perfect host and his brother Gianni a brilliant cook, must mention Maria who looked after us each night at dinner. Breakfast looking out over the Bay of Naples to Vesuvius is a joy, sampling freshly squeezed orange juice, oranges go in top of the machine, press button- fresh juice flows out- marvellous. By night the Bay takes on a completely new view with all the lights twinkling.

The service was wonderful, nothing was too much trouble, the food was superb, and the room was clean and comfortable. If you are planning to eat at the hotel save the steak until the last night, it’s well worth waiting for.

We are looking forward to going back very soon.

This hotel exceeded by expectations. Travelling alone I was concerned that it seemed to be a distance from the main square in Sorrento but the hotel offered a shuttle to and from. The shuttle took 10 minutes so hardly worth being concerned about. The location high in the hills offered a beautiful view everynight of Mt Vesuvio to be enjoyed during dinner on their terrace. The food offered at the hotel was excellent and included many choices and was not over priced. The hotel is also on the bus route to Positano, Amalfi. I think most people coming to Sorrento head out for day trips to these other towns and the stop is conveniently located right outside the door. Dino at the desk was very helpful with all my questions . Air conditioner was on everyday when i got in after a long warm day sight seeing and the water pressure in the shower was strong. I could'nt of asked for anything more

We recently stayed at Il Nido for four nights with three children. It is the perfect hotel for families, couples, newlyweds, solo-travelers. We also ate there three of the four nights. The food is delicious, and fairly priced.

The shuttle bus was always on schedule. There is a great little park for young children at the shuttle pick up site.

It was a wonderful stay for us. The rooms were beautiful and worked out perfect for us. They gave us a great deal on two inside rooms, a triple and double to accomotade the 5 people we had with us, 4 adults and 1 seven year old child. The view from the restaurant in the hotel was all we needed! The shuttle service was very nice. The restaurant food was very good and the balcony seating was simply amazing, as were the desserts. The lack of reliable wireless internet access was the only dissapointment, but the nice desks and wired internet availability made up for it. The hotel was extremely helpful whenever we had any questions or concerns. I really pestered them with e-mails up until our arrival and they answered without complaint, always perfectly professional and in a very nice manner. It was the absolute perfect stay. Highly recommended.

We felt comfortable and well cared for every minute of our stay at Il Nido. On the front lines are Dino, who welcomed us, served dinner, and helped us make the most of this beautiful area, and Gianni, who ferried us to and from town from our perch above the cliff overlooking the bay of Naples. Behind the scenes, other family members cook, clean, and coordinate a seamless operation. Our room, overlooking the Bay of Naples, was spotless and well furnished, with twin beds, a wardrobe, chest of drawers, desk, and chair. The bathroom was recently remodeled, and everything worked perfectly. We had a balcony with a table and chairs so we could enjoy the view of Mount Vesuvius. The buffet breakfast was plentiful and varied, complete with fresh orange juice squeezed on the spot. Dinners were tasty, with a proseco apertif, fresh salads, seafood and pasta, and home-made limoncello. Lots of nice touches-- a coin-operated laundry in the basement for guests' use, free wi-fi in the hotel lobby, and very convenient parking. After we checked out, I dropped my Visa card in the public restroom, but didn't notice it till we got to our next destination. I called Il Nido to see if I had left it there, and Dino assured me that his sister had found it. They express-mailed it to our next hotel, in Florence. First class service! Il Nido was a great choice-- everything we needed, moderately priced , and a wonderful way to experience the gracious hospitality of Sorrento.

Sorrento was the second stop of our Italian tour. After the rush of Rome we enjoyed every relaxing second in Sorrento and the Hotel Il Nido was the icing on the cake.

I booked this hotel because I wanted the views & they did not disappoint. I could have sit on the porch all day. The staff were so friendly and extremely helpful (great recommendation for a driver for our Amalfi Coast Tour). The room was big, the bed was comfy and there was a real hair dryer (so I was happy). An added bonus: The breakfast was so delicious, I still think of those little pastries. YUM!

We will definitely go back to Sorrento & will absolutely stay at the Hotel Il Nido.

Are you wondering about those glowing reviews of Il Nido? My husband thought the owners' family had written them because they were so positive - NOT SO. We stayed 5 nights and loved everything about it, except a crying baby guest. Yes, there is some noise in the halls because of the terrazzo floors, but the views from our room and the dining area, the helpful service from the owners, the friendly guests, the convenient shuttle, the cleanliness of our room, the marvelous food and the country/safe feeling of being in the hills away from the crowds made any minor annoyance disappear. The experience of staying at Il Nido was not surpassed during our 4 weeks of traveling in Italy. We would return tonight if offered the opportunity. Read the reviews. They capture all of the flavor and facts of being with Dino in his family run hotel. And, by the way, it is also true that Dino will personally drive you to the train/bus station before dawn and he will decline payment.
