On a recent visit to Sorrento, and having read Janet Street Porters review from her stay at this hotel, although not staying at this hotel we decided to visit for lunch. No denying the hotel is beautiful and set in lovely grounds and we sat on the outside terrace overlooking the sea. The food was fine, but the cleanliness of the terrace was not what we would expect and several serviettes and bits of rubbish were lying around on the ground with no effort from any of the staff to tidy up. Also the attitude of the serving staff was not very friendly - we felt they were rather arrogant and off hand.
Sadly not typical of the general friendly attitude we received from most other restaurants in Sorrento during our one week stay.
David Saunders ( staying at the excellent Tramontano Hotel with exceptionally friendly staff )

Everything is a 10 out of 10 in this hotel - rooms , restaurants, location, views and the exceptionally well trained staff. Views are to die for and we were upgraded to full sea view even though we booked partial. I have stayed in many 5 star hotels in the world but this surpasses them all. Thank you especially to corrado, galano and marguerite for unparalleled service

We spent 3 nights in May at this beautiful hotel. From the first to the last minute spent at the Excelsior Vittoria we have felt welcome and appreciated. The personnel on site is courteous and helpful. The site is magnificient and the hotel offers European elegance with a smile. The location, easy access to the Old city of Sorrento makes it easy to visit, enjoy different restaurants and discover shops. The gardens, the pool, the terrace, everything is perfect.
On top of all, the restaurant the Bosquet has to be experimented, even if you are not staying at the hotel. Chef Gigi (who won a Michelin star at another restaurant) prepares exquisite dishes presented as pieces of art. Impressive preparation and presentation. Maitre d' Nicoletta and sommelier Luciano lead a young and enthusiastic team. A dinner at the Bosquest is a great experience.
We just love our stay and highly recommend the hotel and the restaurant.

Room Tip: Seaview from the balconies are beautifull

Stopping at this beautiful old property is like stepping back in time to a more gracious era. Housed in three contiguous buildings that are harmoniously designed and appointed, the hotel has apparently been under the same family ownership for generations. The room was comfortable and pretty with a generous private terrace and panoramic views of the Bay of Naples with Vesuvius on the horizon. The restaurant is pure candle-lit romance with more beautiful views and very fine food. A fabulous breakfast buffet is served in a gorgeous Belle Époque room with a lovely pianist providing live music - a great way to start a day! The entire experience exceeded our expectations.

Room Tip: Ask for room 223.

My husband and I just returned from a trip to Sorrento where we spent 4 nights at the Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria. We could not have been happier. From start to finish everything was perfect. The service was spectacular, the room and view were perfect, the pool and food fantastic, location ideal, and the grounds and hotel decor were something out of a movie (which they literally are). We were slightly nervous since the cost was outside our budget and it was going to be a splurge, but it was worth every single penny and would do it again in a heart beat. The only negative is that our "bar" for hotel standards is now set too high for others to live up to! Could not recommend this hotel more!

We stayed here in April prior to the big crowds and can't imagine staying anywhere else during the madness of high season. A true osasis set on the water and blessedly insulated from the main square of the town by some of the prettiest gardens we have seen. If there was ever a hotel to upgrade your room to a sea view, this is it. We were originally booked in the old wing with garden view but were graciously upgraded to the newer wing with balcony overlooking the bay. We were so impressed that we extended our stay another day, which we spent at the fabulous breakfast buffet and taking pics. The hotel is a bit of a throwback to a classier time, with staff dress and service reflecting pride in their position and hotel. It can appear a little stuffy on check in, but don't let that put you off. Enjoy !

Room Tip: Sea view a must!!

My husband and I chose this hotel following some of the reviews and pictures we saw on Trip-advisor. After deliberating between a road trip around the US we opted for a more relaxed holiday and thought Sorrento would be perfect. We were so glad we chose this for our honeymoon!
Our stay at the Excelsior Vittoria was perfect and I can't begin to describe just how friendly, welcoming and accommodating the staff were - from our first day where we received a chilled bottle of champagne, from the staff at the poolside who were always smiling and adjusting my umbrella when the sun got too overbearing, to the concierge who always acknowledged us with a hello, good morning and good night.
We were upgraded on our arrival - we could only really afford a room with a partial sea view and we were so happy when we were informed that we had been upgraded! We had a private balcony with a full sea view and a very spacious room.
The hotel just oozes old school hospitality and it is a blast from a decadent past. We are both into our mod-cons and modern life but this hotel was just what we needed and we loved all the grand touches.
Breakfast in the grand hall was fantastic, lunch on the terrace was always very relaxing (I loved their pizzas!) and we treated ourselves to a tasting menu in the restaurant which was just unbelievable.
The location is superb - right in the heart of Sorrento town and waking distance from all restaurants and just a private lift away from the harbour.
We would definitely stay here again and will always have fond memories of this grand hotel with its welcoming staff.
