“The best in Sorrento by far, one of the best in Italy”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 May 2013

This hotel is a must stay in Sorrento. The setting is incredible, when you land on the ferry a porter meets you and takes you and your luggage up an elevator to the lobby. All the rooms have balconies or patios overlooking the sea. The staff is experienced and friendly, while there is a formal air it is not in a bad way and everyone is very warm and friendly. The spa is incredible and I had a great massage (not always a given in a hotel). We had lunch poolside one day and the lighter fare choices were lovely. Main street is a short walk up the driveway which makes the hotel very accessible but you do not hear any noise from the town, we slept with the windows open to hear the waves splash. All the attractions are an easy ferry or train ride from the hotel (Pompeii, Capri, Herculaneum) The only downside was that the internet connection is terrible, you need a code every 24 hours and most websites cannot be accessed, including tripadvisor which is why I'm doing this review now from home.

Room Tip: All sea view rooms are fine.

Had the best experience at this hotel! This is definitely the most amazing hotel in Sorrento! If you are looking for a hotel with an amazing view and the best of the best, stay here!
Everything is within a very short walking distance, shops, restaurants, etc. When our driver pulled up looking for the hotel my mom said, wow look at that hotel! Thankfully it was this one that we were staying at!

Room Tip: Definitely get a room with a balcony! Well worth it for the beautiful sites!

Looking at the excellent reviews for this hotel I hesitate in criticising their lunch service . Six of us were staying in a four star hotel in Sorrento but thought given the high scores of this towel we would check out for lunch and drinks on the terrace . The initial contact with a staff member was disappointing . We asked for a table for six . We don't have any came the prompt response we only have tables for 4 or 2. . They were not busy and could easily have put table together . We sat on adjacent tables and ordered lunch from unsmiling indifferent waiting staff. The lunch was fine not special but no complaints . The welcome from staff was below what you would expect from any hotel .
Must have been a bad day for them as our experience appears a one off

On a recent visit to Sorrento, and having read Janet Street Porters review from her stay at this hotel, although not staying at this hotel we decided to visit for lunch. No denying the hotel is beautiful and set in lovely grounds and we sat on the outside terrace overlooking the sea. The food was fine, but the cleanliness of the terrace was not what we would expect and several serviettes and bits of rubbish were lying around on the ground with no effort from any of the staff to tidy up. Also the attitude of the serving staff was not very friendly - we felt they were rather arrogant and off hand.
Sadly not typical of the general friendly attitude we received from most other restaurants in Sorrento during our one week stay.

Everything is a 10 out of 10 in this hotel - rooms , restaurants, location, views and the exceptionally well trained staff. Views are to die for and we were upgraded to full sea view even though we booked partial. I have stayed in many 5 star hotels in the world but this surpasses them all. Thank you especially to corrado, galano and marguerite for unparalleled service

We spent 3 nights in May at this beautiful hotel. From the first to the last minute spent at the Excelsior Vittoria we have felt welcome and appreciated. The personnel on site is courteous and helpful. The site is magnificient and the hotel offers European elegance with a smile. The location, easy access to the Old city of Sorrento makes it easy to visit, enjoy different restaurants and discover shops. The gardens, the pool, the terrace, everything is perfect.
On top of all, the restaurant the Bosquet has to be experimented, even if you are not staying at the hotel. Chef Gigi (who won a Michelin star at another restaurant) prepares exquisite dishes presented as pieces of art. Impressive preparation and presentation. Maitre d' Nicoletta and sommelier Luciano lead a young and enthusiastic team. A dinner at the Bosquest is a great experience.
We just love our stay and highly recommend the hotel and the restaurant.

Room Tip: Seaview from the balconies are beautifull

Stopping at this beautiful old property is like stepping back in time to a more gracious era. Housed in three contiguous buildings that are harmoniously designed and appointed, the hotel has apparently been under the same family ownership for generations. The room was comfortable and pretty with a generous private terrace and panoramic views of the Bay of Naples with Vesuvius on the horizon. The restaurant is pure candle-lit romance with more beautiful views and very fine food. A fabulous breakfast buffet is served in a gorgeous Belle Époque room with a lovely pianist providing live music - a great way to start a day! The entire experience exceeded our expectations.

Room Tip: Ask for room 223.
