We stayed in room 449 with balcony overlooking bay of Naples with views of versuvius just glorious. Staff around the pool were fantasic and friendly at all times, bringing towels and drinks. A lovely cafe to have lunch is adjacent to the large pool with jacuzzi area at one end. The concierge staff were helpful with recommending resaurants to us and they were always fabulous. They provide umbrellas when it rains. The bedroom was nice with adequate space and king size bed, bath with shower inside, also nice bathroom but there was a urine smell that came up from a drain in the bathroom. Breakfast was very nice with a wide variety of everything, staff were very friendly and helpful I could write more but shortened, it lovely here and we had a fabulous break for 8 nights

A stunning hotel in tranquil setting yet in the middle of Sorrento. There are great views over the sea but there is no private beach however the swimming pool is very good with a good quality restaurant attached for lunch/afternoon meals. Service was very good and helpful.

We stayed at this hotel after being disappointed with the hotel that I had actually booked for our five night break. We turned up on their doorstep with no idea of where we actually were late at night. The staff were fantastic, took care of us, offered us an excellent 'late deal' and placed us in a room that was absolutely beautiful. This hotel is fabulous. The pool is beautiful with luxurious loungers with mattresses on and waiter service at your lounger. The views are unbelievable. My eyes thought they were being deceived when I opened the curtains on our first morning to the magnificent site of the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius. There is a helpful lift down to the harbour from the hotel. The centre of Sorrento is simply at the end of the long beautiful driveway that leads from the gates of the hotel up to the building itself. Our rooms were cleaned every day our beds were turned down every night whilst we were out. THe hotel is in an excellent location for sightseeing, being only a short walk from the regional train station which will take you to Pompeii, Herculaneum, Naples etc etc. We visited Capri whilst we were there which is also one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. This part of the world, for me, is like Heaven and my stay at this hotel was like the nicest dream you could imagine.

My wife and I spent four nights at the Excelsior Vittoria during the first week of May, 2010. We had a deluxe seaview room with a balcony. The room was beautiful and the view from the room and balcony outstanding. We would sit on the balcony and watch all the activity on the Bay of Naples. We found the service at the hotel to be very good and the facility and the grounds to be very well kept. It was a relief everytime you left the hustle and bustle of downtown Sorrento and entered the peace and quiet of the Excelsior Vitoria gardens.

Mixed feeling about this hotel. Very nice public areas & very good location in the downtown of Sorrento but considering the prices put in our suite, a little more stuff would have been appreciated, such as: CD player, DVD player, Pay-per-view + very unequal friendliness of the staff: concierge and frontdesk and swimming pool waitress are very pleasant people, breakfast and bar guys a little choosing with whom they wanted to be pleasant, hate that! Next time, probably stay in Amalfi + 2 nights in Capri

We stayed four nights at the Excelsior Vittoria over Christmas in a standard sea-view room (number 450). The hotel and room were lovely and the views over the port to the entire bay of Naples were beautiful. Coming from Capri, the private elevator from the port right up to the hotel was very convenient.
The hotel layout is interesting, being spread through three different buildings, but the main floor (actually the second floor) connected all three and had the reception, concierge, bar, sitting rooms, and principal restaurant. We enjoyed the magnificent central stairway, lovely wall decorations and utterly stupendous frescos on the ceilings of the restaurant and main sitting room.
Our room was functional with a very nice covered terrace, perfectly clean, bath and bed linens changed daily, and lots of little perks which we appreciated. The gardens were lovely and the long walkway leading to Piazza Tasso a delight to pass along leaving or returning to the hotel.
The only negative area I would comment on was the restaurant food. While the menus prepared for the Christmas eve and day looked delicious, the actual food was not all that great. Ditto for the other two meals we ate. The innovative sophisticated gourmet dishes served left us wishing for simple more traditional cooking. Something my wife ate the last evening left her ill for days after, so all in all, if we return to the Vittoria we'll eat elsewhere. The breakfast on the other had was very good with an excellent selection of things to choose from.
We found the staff to be both efficient and friendly. In the restaurant Salvatore, Franco and Daniele were especially attentive and friendly with us, and at the bar, the head barman Salvatore was a delight to talk with. While the reception staff was a little cool, the concierge personnel were very helpful in answering our questions and obtaining whatever we needed.
The hotel guests were mostly English, a few Americans, and a scattering of Italians. Would we return, probably yes.

This hotel got a good write up a travel guide so we decided to stay a night. Fantastic location in the heart of Sorrento and easy to locate after a day of driving. We booked a suite with sea side views cost 528 Euro for the night. View was lovely and could also see the square and the beautiful Xmas tree all lit up. However staff in general I thought were stand-off-ish and the hotel is a rabbit Warren. Some hotels manage to create an authentic historic experience but I did not feel it here. The paintwork on the wall feels kitsch and just looks dated now. Inside our room there was plenty of space with three small terraces but it was windy and cold so we didn't bother sitting out. There was hair in the bath and the bathroom in general was stained and the fittings broken of damaged - there were gaps in the seals of the shower so water flooded to the floor and as well the shower drain overflowed so wevwere standing in dirty water yuk! We closed the electric shutters at night cause the heavy curtains are just for show and the shutters rattled all night in the wind so we had to open them which meant the room got very light early so no sleep in! Brekkie was ok except the hot food looked like it had been sitting there for ages. Bread and jam good. Coffee average. Gardens beautiful. I did complain about the bathroom and I got a small discount but think much better value for money canbe obtained elsewhereor better yet bypass Sorrento and go straight to Positano.
