We have recently come back from our holiday in Sorrento. We stayed at the Hilton Sorrento Palace. From the moment we arrived, the staff were so caring and attentive. Peppe was such an awesome Manager. The facilities were brilliant! We would highly recommend it.

Perfect 4* hotel. If it was just me and my wife we would have gone for a cliff situated hotel to absorb the Amalfi coast views, however with a pool hungry 6 year old the hilton is ideal! A five minute walk from the Hilton to Sorrento town gives you best of both worlds! You can't fault the hotel, good rooms, great for lunch. Beer prices a little steep but hey come on, who can be bothered to move from a pool side when the weather is great! Sorrento, you fail to have a bad meal, especially if you love Italian food! Overall 10 out of 10, will be going back!

We arrived back last night from our holiday. We did have a good time. Room was fine a bit on the plain side and very thin walls. Maria on reception was a little impatient with us as we struggled to understand her. Fantastic view from our room of Vesuvius. Unfortunately when we went down for dinner( we were half board) we were given a menu but only 2 choices which were mostly fish and veal. My husband is allergic to fish and we don't eat veal so it was a little awkward. Peppe was very good and said he would get us something else. This menu was similar every night so most nights we ended up with Palma ham and melon and meat and potatoes. We noticed most nights there was only 10 or 12 people in the restaurant each night. Breakfast was fantastic with so much on the buffet menu. The sun beds were great. Always lots of available as staff took off towels of sunbirds were not used. The pool bar staff were very friendly especially Nicola. Who took time to chat and always arranged for drinks to be brought to the sun bed. Half way through the week there was a big Avon conference and it was very noisy at night with music till late. The walk to the town was fine a small gradient and not too tiring. We booked up trips with our Thomas Cook rep. Amalfi Drive was a waste of time as we had to sit on left hand side and saw nothing but a rock cliff and guide Anna was quite rude moaning about the price of things all the time. We asked if we would go back along the coast and she said no and we went back by motorway!Pompeii and Vesuvius trip was amazing and guide Fabio was interesting and very helpful. Andrea our Thomas Cook rep was fab too. The trip round Sorrento was fab and interesting especially after the free wine and food samples.

Room Tip: Do not go half board as limited. Beware if you go on Amalfi drive tour. If coach is full you will see nothing. Use the stopping bus as it cones back along the coast

Dear Gll187045,

Thank you for contributing your comments regarding your stay at our Hotel. We truly appreciate all of your feedback and I was very pleased to hear you enjoyed your time with us!

I was especially glad to hear all of your wonderful remarks about our breakfast, pools and sun-beds and entire Pool Staff, noting Nicola was a stand out! Peppe is such a wonderful asset to our Team and I am happy to hear you were able to witness this first hand as well. Here at the Hilton, our goal is to meet all of our Guest’s needs and desires in respect to every aspect of your stay. We are a true Farm-to-Table Hotel and we only use ingredients and cuisine that is fresh and locally grown or raised, we even grow many of our own fruits and vegetables and herbs in our garden on the Hilton grounds! The options at dinner therefore typically reflect traditional dishes of the area and season. I have shared all of your comments with all of the Food and Beverage Staff giving a special thanks to Peppe and Nicola. I have also spoken with the Front Desk team regarding your concerns with their team members.

From the entire Hilton Sorrento Palace Staff, thank you for choosing to vacation with us and we hope that we can welcome you back in the future!

Warm Regards,

Stayed for 10 nights as a party of 2 adults and 3 children. We had a 5th floor family room which was cliff facing but was large (2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms) and nice and quiet. We also had a 5th floor sea facing double room which enjoyed superb views but was noisy.

As Hilton diamond members we were entitled to free Exec Club access and this saved us a fortune! We found the quality and selection of the breakfast, snacks, drinks and evening food excellent and it was very quiet in here. The main breakfast room next door was very busy and noisy. The Exec Club has terrific views also. Would definitely recommend booking Exec bedrooms if you are bringing children so you can benefit from this.

The hotel is in a great location - just a short (15 mins) walk up a hill from bustling Sorrento. There are a lot of facilities including great pools, tennis court and gym. There were plenty of sun beds and fresh poolside towels and the pool bar was excellent and reasonably priced for drinks, food, gelato etc. The kids loved it and we had to drag them out to go sightseeing. One of my sons and I used the gym regularly and it was always quiet. It's small but reasonably well equipped.

Housekeeping cleaned the rooms daily and the common areas of the hotel were very clean and well maintained. Sadly, apart from a few exceptions (man cleaning gym and older gentleman in Exec Club who could teach others a thing or two about customer service) we generally found the staff unfriendly and aloof. It's a shame as everyone is very efficient - they just need to learn to smile occasionally - something management needs to address as I heard many other guests making the same comment).

We chose a private taxi transfer organised by the hotel for us from Naples airport which was 158 euros. However, there is a 35 euro evening charge added to this up to 7.30 am. Expensive, but still worked out cheaper to book the hotel rooms, flights and transfers ourselves rather than a package.

All in all would highly recommend.

See my reviews of sites and restaurants in Sorrento plus Herculaneum and Pompeii if you are planning to visit these also and need some local info.

We had an excellent stay. 4 nights here during our honeymoon. View of bay and the volcano from our balcony was amazing. Executive lounge was top notch with outdoor area...and como wine and beer avail for consumption during happy hour. Front desk was very helpful and professional. 10 min walk down the hill to all the action in Sorrento and great restaurants. The walk back a bit more difficult be gave us our exercise. Easy boat ride to Capri and other points in Amalfi coast. I would stay here again without hesitation, just not in Aug though. ..too hot and crowded in Amalfi and capri.
