“An Amazing View and First Class Service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 April 2009

This hotel had absolutely amazing views of the Amalfi Coast and we liked the location above town where we could really relax and wind down after a long day of busy traveling. We stayed here for 3 days during our trip to Italy in April 2009 and we wouldn't trade the experience for the world. In a 10 minute walk you could be in the square shopping or eating, and in 5 minutes, you could walk to the train and bus station, so you could get to all of the area attractions including the towns along the Amalfi Coast and Pompeii. In just a short walk you could also arrive at the boat dock to go to Capri, so all of the areas attractions, were literally at your fingertips, yet if you wanted you were in the perfect place to just stay in the room looking out over the coast and relax all day long. An amazing "American" style hotel with staff that truly spoke English unlike some other hotels we've stayed at during our trip to Italy. While we should have taken the time to learn more Italian before leaving home, life happens, and the fluency of the front desk really helped our trip to the Amalfi Coast to run smoothly.

We spent 6 nights at the Hilton Sorrento Palace in March. The rooms were quite large, especially by European standards. Our King bed was actually two twins pushed together with a set of King sheets. Comfortable unless you plan to spoon in the middle of the bed. We had a fabulous view of the Bay of Naples and Mt. Vesuvius. There is nothing cozy about this hotel. It's a very large property - huge lobby, huge breakfast room, huge meeting facilities. It's furnished in bright flourescent colors - not my taste but certainly distinctive. The hotel is about a 10-minute walk from the train/bus station, where you can catch a bus to the Amalfi Coast or the Circumvesuviana train to Pompeii, Herculaneum or Naples. It's also about 10 minutes walk to downtown and about 15 minutes walk to the port where you can catch boats to Naples or Capri. There's a grocery store about 5 minutes walk down the hill. There's also a public bus stop just down the street from the hotel, but frankly it's more convenient to just walk downtown or to the train station. Internet access in the room was cost-prohibitive, about 22 euros a day. However, there is a small business center off the lobby where you can check your e-mail for .35 euros a minute. As in most hotels, long distance calls cost an arm and a leg. However, we had a 10 euro phone card that allowed us to make daily calls home to our kids in the United States.

My self and my eleven year old daughter visited Sorrento in 2007 and stayed at the Hilton. The staff are very courteous and nothing is to much trouble. The outdoor area is lovely and the pool very clean and well looked after. We are returning to Sorrento this year and staying at the Hilton. I can't wait!!!!!!!

WOW. what an amazing hotel, we stayed here for 2weeks and can not fault any of it.
The staff were so friendly and very helpful. some even took a shine to our 14yr old son as we have some italian from my fathers side.
We were half board, the breakfast so much to choice from and plenty of it. Set us up for the day. Evening meal the choice was very good and very tasty.
Rooms very comfortable. lovely views over looking the bay.
The barman knew his job, we came in one night ordered our drinks. Came back two nights later and he knew our order, now thats amazing cos both nights were very busy.
The indoor pool is mmmmmmmmmmmm, good size and heated just right. Had a very pompei feel to it, going back in time.
Would differently stay here again.
Loved Sorrento and all the surrounding areas.

Beautiful Lobby and Lounge. Fantastic Views of Sorrento and Bay of Naples. Excellent room for family of 4, suite with 1 full bath and one half bath, spacious. Very clean. Great pool inside and out. Pool outside not open yet. Close to town yet enough removed. Can walk 10 min to city square or E10 taxi ride. Incredible terrace with seating for lunch and dinner snacks. Very attentive staff. The lounge and outside terrace are my favorites for realxing with family.

We just returned from Sorrento this past weekend and had the pleasure of staying a the Hilton Sorrento. This hotel doesn't seem to quite fit in with the charm of Sorrento as it is VERY modern looking both outside and in but it was really a nice place to stay. The room was huge compared to other rooms you would find in Europe and had quite a nice bathroom. There was an odd 'rug' on the floor (many rooms in Italy do not have carpeting so I guess this was their best attempt) that felt like bad sisel but it was fine . Kind sized bed and additional twin bed which came in handy for placing clothes on etc. There was no real place to store things other than clothes- just 4 drawers in the 'closet' which had no doors on it. We got to wake up to looking at the things we hung up but it was fine. There were no drawers by the bed side but again, that other bed came in handy for storing stuff. We had a balcony over looking Sorrento, the pool and Mt. Vesuvius- really quite amazing. The bathroom was very clean- odd half shower door made of glass (again, modern) but we got use to it. And o' the room was BRIGHT orange.

We are Hilton gold crown members which can sometimes entitle you to a special execuitive room and access to the execuitive suite. They did not have one of these rooms available but told us they would keep checking. We never heard back and we were pretty okay with our room so we let it go. Would have been nice but what is one to do...we had heard that others had gotten it. In exchange for that, they did give us two bottles of complimentary water each day and a fruit bowl one day. The water came in very handy...at 2-3 euros per bottle in town, you come to appreicate any you get for free.

The included breakfast was great. Ate in a large BRIGHT green room....not sure what is up with the colors but it didn't affect how nice the place was.

The hotel is up the hill but those of you in shape will enjoy the walk up the hill from Sorrento. We did it many times.

The staff was quite helpfu with connections for Rome and Naples and any other areas too.

Indoor swimming pool was gorgeous.

I visited Sorrento back in 2007 to get married. We chose the Hilton Sorrento Palace based on reviews, photos, price and quality of the Hilton brand.
I have to say there is no way I was disappointed!
We booked the wedding and holiday through Going Places and this is/was one of their Platinum hotel selections so you get increased baggage allowance, free drinks vouchers, car transfers etc.
Upon arrival at the hotel I was bowled over by the efficiency of the staff, a porter arrived at the door as we drew up in the car to receive us and our baggage. Walking into the reception/lobby area we were amazed at the gradeur! Marble floors, big high ceilings, marble pillars and plus seating. The bar was visable and reminded me of a beautifil piano bar with the attentive staff, sweeping view of the sea and Vesuvius, the Veuve Cliquot specialist champagne bar and the very sophisticated looking people sitting inside. All in all - IMPRESSIVE!
We checking in with ease and made our way to our room. We were greeted in the Executive room we had chosen by out luggage already there, a lovely letter from the manager and a bottle of complimentary Limoncello - a classic Sorrentine liqueur. The room was huge, clean and orderly. A superking size bed with a massive balcony which is about 15 feet in depth, shared wit the other executive rooms but in no way did this cause us a problem. It had the most wonderful views of the harbour, Sorrento town and the Bay of Naples opposite with Vesuvius impossing in the background. Made for wonderful wedding photos!
We were half board but only ate in the main restaurant 6/7 times in the 2 weeks as we had so many family and freinds to meet with in the evenings, but the nights we did eat there I was very impressed with the quality of the food and the selection. Although one negative comment would be that the wine is quote expensive in comparison with some of the restaurants near by and also that they charge you for water at the table.
Ok, moving on! The staff were all friendly, attentive and keen to give you local information.
If you hire a car - which I recommend doing - beware the very high cost of parking in the hotel car park. Cost us about £200 for 12 days!! Ouch! but there really isn't anywere else to park.
Local bars and restaurants all offer beautiful food, relaxed and happy service with classic Italian warmth and humour.
Make sure you visit the local sights, Vesuvious walk is arduous but definately worth it. Pompeii is hauntingly beautiful, Naples is a wonderful day trip - take the train and leave ALL valuables in the hotel safe! Pick pockets are notorious here. You will get bargains from the street vendors though. Massa Lubrense is a quaint little town with some nice little cafes. The Amalfi coast drive is great if you have hired a car, not so good on a bus!
We were married in the Cloisters which was wonderful followed by a reception at Don Pedro restaurante, just outside Sorrento but definately worth a visit! Wonderful food at great value. He makes his own Riccota cheese, Prosecco and wine from his vineyard. On the whole I heartilly recommend Sorrento and the Hilton. It was certainly a holiday with a unique difference but I wouldn't hesitate to go back!
