“Great views from cliff, but service horrible, not in the center, overpriced”
Reviewed 16 August 2010

Stayed for 2 nights at this Hilton which had basic Hilton amenities as buffet breakfast, pool, internet, room service, room was clean. Doors of the room are like plyboard, paper thin, you can hear everything thing from the hallways and everytime someone closes a door. The views from this hotel was spectacular since its on the cliff and its about 10 minute walk down to the main strip. However, I will never reccommend this hotel because of the horrible front desk/concierge service. All of the staff just seemed like they were there to pick up their paycheck and leave, not helpful at all. Multiple times while speaking to different front desk people, they would look different directions and speak to other employees while speaking to me. If Im paying your rediculous prices for your hotel, you better give me your full attention. Also, they did not tell me that walking down to the center of the city was a short walk. They always suggested a taxi for me which I would gather because they probably get a kick back from the taxi drivers. Please do not take a taxi down to the the center, they will charge 15-18 euros for a 2 minute drive, 18-22 euros down to the port. I only found out that I could walk to the center on my last day there.

Standard Hilton service and style - ok with us.
Nice rooms with excellent view ( Hilton plus room - be sure to get this, otherwise you face a cliff wall !! ).
Pool area and garden nice.
Breakfast absolutly great.
Bar prices to high except for happy hour.
Quite a walk uphill from town, but that is the price for the exeptional view.
If you get a discount its worth the money, but the list price seems a bit steep.
Stay of the internet - it is extremly expensive. Should be free at this type of hotel.

this is a good budget hotel, but feels very hollow. there was nothing wrong with the stay and everything went smooth. however, the staff and the whole look and feel of the hotel was not very warm and welcoming. Location, was average, its about 10 mins walk away from the city.

overall, for the price the hotel is good, rooms are large, but again they feel like they are right out of a container. Again i would recommend this if you are ok with just a place to stay, dont expect much of luxury.

My wife and I stayed here for a week in July 2010 with our two young daughters. We had initially stayed here in 1999 for our honeymoon before the Hilton group took over.

In 1999 we were half board and the dining experience was 'out of this world'. We opted for a bed and breakfast option this time and each morning we had a pleasureable experience. They had added 'live stations' where you could get crepes, pancakes, waffles and eggs cooked freshly in front of you. The choice at breakfast was vast and it appealed to the health conscious or the hungry.

We sampled the half board menu one night in the Pompei restaurant on the 2nd floor and as it raining the staff were slightly under pressure. I would recommend eating out to allow yourself the culinary experiences Sorrento have to offer.

The drinks at the hotel are very overpriced: 330ml bottle of Heineken is 8 Euros as is a large beer - a small soft drink is 5 Euros. The good thing is the bar have 3 happy hours during the day. At the pool from 2-3pm and also in the bar from 6-7pm and then 8.30-9.30pm. HALF PRICE DRINKS.

I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND eating at the Sorrento Restaurant which is on the ground floor. They have an a la carte menu and a kids menu. (HUGE SELECTION). This was a dining experience you will never forget. The waiters are more attentive than the half boarders upstairs and it is well worth the money. The views on the balcony of Vesuius are amazing.

While in Sorrento watch out for tourist traps, namely restaurants which apply a cover charge and a service charge. For a normal family meal this extra charge can sometimes amount to over 20 Euros. WATCH OUT as the waiters also expect a tip!!!!!

I would recommend a trip to the island of Capri but don't book a tour - go yourself. The reception have timetables for the ferries and it's less than 90 Euros for a family return trip to the Island. Once you arrive get your tickets for the Cable Car (Furnicular) as the queues get mental. You can book a boat tour around the island - strongly recommend this.

Places of interestin Sorrento - Bar Fauno and Bar Syrenuse at Piazzo Tasso. The former is a prime spot for people watching and the latter have great food.

Enjoy. Ciao!

This hotel is Hilton at its best. The atmosphere is vibrant, productive, and serene all at the same time. Business or pleasure, the hotel does both very well. Most notably, the staff had a very personal approach and offered suggestions to the area that made our trip to the region very special. We will definitely return to this hotel the next time we are fortunate enough to visit.

Great Hotel in a beautiful location. Rooms are clean and spacious with Flat screen TV, nice bathrooms, good lighting and well working air conditioning. I had a family of 5 with three teenagers so we had 2 rooms adjoining – a double and triple. Rooms had adjoining balconies with a gorgeous view. The hotel has all the amenities you would expect from a Hilton. A great outdoor pool area which was a perfect way to unwind in the late afternoon after a day of sightseeing and before dinner in town. I suspect a hotel with a pool in Sorrento is hard to come by so this was a nice treat. Breakfast was included and was outstanding – including omelet bar, crepes with Nutella (my kid’s favorite!), fruits, cheeses, meats, breads, etc. and fresh squeezed orange juice. If you can get a table outside, do so as the views are breathtaking. We ate at the hotel restaurant late one night after a late day of sightseeing and the food was good, however, you are much better off eating in town. The hotel is conveniently located about a 10 minute walk from the town’s center and a 20 minute walk to the port. There is also a bus that stops right by the hotel that will take you to the town’s center. I had a rental car and there was plenty of free parking in the area. If no parking is available, or if you prefer, you can valet your car. Try to avoid taxis as they are extremely expensive. We stayed for 4 days taking day trips to Capri and Positano – by ferry. We also took a drive to Ravello. We loved the Amalfi coast and the Sorento Hilton was a perfect base. I highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed in Hilton Sorrento Palace for two nights. It was a nice experience. For a young couple it might be even a little too much of a luxury, but that's Hilton. We didn't eat dinners there and waited for the happy hours at the pool bar. A pint costs around 7 euros.

Because of our high expectations we noticed a few small things to fix:
The air conditioning system was a bit noisy so we decided to turn it off for the night. We also had a balcony with a view to the main entrance and a big cliff on the other side of the street, but it wasn't very private place to spend the evening because there were no walls between the balconies.

Overall a very nice hotel and we do recommend.
