Excellent hotel stay
Everything was perfect
The food was excellent and the setting was in the tradition of great European hotels

The front desk staff were beyond compare. Rosario gave us excellent suggestions for trips around town and was a great help in planning trips to other islands and took the worry out of taking care of reservations.
I will be back for another visit!

THis place is magnificent with sea views across to mount Vesuvius from the terrace and dining room. Lush garden grounds have a swiming pool, bar and snack area overlooking the sea.
There is a lift down to the sea where there is a private beach, all be it a deck and rocks. The rooms are comfortable and it is beautifully fitted.

This place does all you would hope of a Grand Hotel. Rooms are palatial and well fitted. Bathrooms similar Public areas are extensive and comfortable The grounds are well maintained and with the bathing platform, which is easily accessible by lift from the hotel, offer guests the opportunity to sun bath or site quietly in the shade.

Food was excellent at all the meals, I wouldn't bother with the A La Carte next time, not because it wasn't good or good value by because the food in the main restaurant was so good.

Oh and the setting is a knockout

Room Tip: Don't get one on the road.

We stayed in this hotel as the final leg on our honeymoon. We were delighted when we were brought to our room. It was huge, - double the size of a standard room with a decent size balcony overlooking the bay of naples. The room also had walk in wardrobes and a large bathroom as well. The shower was amazing - it was one of those rainfall showers.

The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. We had breakfast each morning and there was a good selection.

The hotel is located about 5-10 min walk from the centre of Sorrento but this means that its nice and quiet and you dont hear any late night revelers walking home.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay here and would stay again.

Room Tip: ensure to get a room facing the bay of naples.

Just returned 5th Oct from our stay at the Grand Ambasciatori it first appeared to be a rather small hotel the frontage is only about 50/60 feet 18 mtr long. But one inside it is much bigger we were dropped of of by private car our luggage was taken in by a member of staff and placed in to our room reception very professional courteous and helpful throughout our stay. We were given a room with a garden / sea view room 616. the room was not large about 10 ft by 10 ft and about the same height clean comfortable adequate furniture and storage. Small bathroom but all that is required fresh towels daily same for bed linen. Now there there is a door to a balcony the only source of natural light this is a small door about 28 inches wide on to a very small balcony. It has a small table and two chairs if one person wants to go back into the room there is not enough space to pass so if one wants to go in you both have to. The view does overlook a garden and swimming pool but due to the well established trees you see precious little a crane of the neck will give you a sea view in part. The unfortunate view is to look down an unsightly pressed steel roof covering i am not sure. All the balconies appear to be the same size with the exceptions of 515 615 and 715 standing room only for one, although going by other reviews there must be others not so small and of course rooms to the rear will have full sea views Those rooms to the front about twelve only a busy narrow road with the local sport stadium to look out on. Breakfast good selection of fruit cold meat cheese bread cakes fruit juice coffee etc. Eggs scrambled fried or omelet as requested also noticed pancakes for the American guests (but not just for them). There is also chipolata type sausage somewhat over cooked streaky bacon fried potatoes baked beans (every other day) tomatoes unfortunately at best warm and on several occasions cold. But the set up, service from the waiters and the spectacular views do compensate . The pool area is excellent very few children and no reserved sunbeds again drinks and refreshments by waiter service but you pay for what you get a beer will set you back £5.90 an evening meal without drinks £38.pp All in all a good hotel and with the right room even better. If you are a regular visitor to Sorrento or indeed italy the rest of this report will not be of interest. If like us this is your first visit to Sorrento I hope this may be of some help. Expect to pay far more than you would say in Spain Portugal Canaries about threefold if you are eating out best avoid restaurants in Tasso Square for example 2 pizza not very big 1/2 pint of beer 1 lemonade 38 euros with cover charge of 5 euro the beer by the way is local perroni average price 6 euro but have seen it at 10 imported beer and spirits is far more expensive A couple of alternatives snack bar accross the road from GHA for quiet drink and bite to eat 660 cc bottle perroni 3 euro pasta / chicken or pork fritter, beef burger with chips 5.50 coffee 1.50 bottle of wine from 3 euros - 12. In town there is another snack bar on the right and side as you go for Tasso sq slightly more expensive but you can sit and watch the traffic go by. almost opposite the is a narrow road up a slight hill try the restaurant at the top no cover charge and at a more realistic price. One more for town in Tasso sq there is a clock tower go up the road on the left side walk about 5 or 6 minutes on the left side is The English bar still pricey for a beer but you can get Kilkenny Guinness and several other lagers you will recognize at 5 euros and spirits with mixer same price. Good food fish and chips chicken and chips and many others from 7.50 there is also an Irish bar about another 20 yards further up on the right.
Trips The Amalfi coast day trip 35 Euro from the tour operator in town not sure what you will get it for with the rep a must do trip. There is a stop for lunch at a hotel St Alfonso at a cost of 22 euros for two not bad which is more than can be said of the bottle's of wine inc 1 red 1 white. if you have a problem with hills this is no short walk and its is downhill with no transport what goes down you have to climb back up. Pompeii just get the train ten mins walk from hotel 3.50 euros return 11 entry fee 1/2 hour on train walking tours cost 11 maybe you get a bit more info than just walking round. But is is just the well preserved ruins much like Ephesus in turkey there are no frozen in time bodies of the poor souls that perished there just two on display in glass cabinets
Capri If you thought Sorrento was expensive it will cost 28 - 35 euros to get there there are no tour buses that you can just get on what are there are organised trips a two hour taxi tour any thing from 160 and up to two hundred if you don't agree the price first. Cost of the train to the town at the top of the hill 3.50 lunch with a glass of wine from 40 euros coffee 6.50 Hope this is of some help.
have a great holiday we did but not to return

Room Tip: if a view is important then upgrade but the best views seem to be few and already spoken for

I don't think so. We treated ourselves to 2 weeks here for our 9 year wedding anniversary and we were not disappointed. The position is perfect (10 minutes walk into town) and the views from the front of the hotel are stunning. Treat yourself to a balcony room with a sea view. The room was cleaned superbly each day, the breakfast was wide ranging and tasty, the staff were all friendly and helpful, the "beach" always had somewhere to lie and the swimming was divine. We will try and come back.

Room Tip: Pay a bit more for a room with a view.

My wife and I stayed here in September 2013 for 10 nights as part of a Kuoni wedding package. The hotel came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. The service, food, facilities, views, grounds, staff and atmosphere were all superb. Giuseppe, the events manager, made us feel like we were the only guests at the hotel, and he planned our evening wedding reception down to the smallest detail. He even managed to surprise us with an unexpected fireworks display at the end of the evening, which was the icing on the cake! Giovanni and his team of waiters were all fantastic, keeping our guests fed and watered throughout the evening without any hiccups or problems at all. It literally couldn't have gone any better. All of our guests (most of which weren't staying at the Ambasciatori) commented on how professional the staff were and how beautiful the grounds were.

Aside from the wedding reception, the hotel itself is a stunning venue. The view from our room (706 - we recommend it) was unbelievable, and the room itself met all of our needs. We ate in the restaurant on one of the "Sorrentine Evenings", where we ate a selection of local cuisine, and again this was superb. There were even local musicians that serenaded the room with classic Italian music.

All in all, we would highly recommend this hotel, either as a place to relax after a hard day's walking in Sorrento or as a place to celebrate a memorable wedding.

We can't thank everyone at the Ambasciatori enough for all they did to make our wedding and holiday the most memorable and happiest time of our lives. We will definitely be back! Grazie mille!

Room Tip: Make sure you get a sea view room - the views are breathtaking looking out over the bay of Naples.
