“AMAZING”
Reviewed 15 October 2013

Me and my wife stayed for 14 nights for are honeymoon. The hotel, it's staff, the location was amazing. We will 100% be staying again. Highly recommended and well worth the money. The food is first class, with great service. The alcohol is slightly expensive but when you are having a drink on the gorgeous terrace overlooking the sea you have to realise why it's expensive. The evening music, live by a singer and piano are first class. Buy far are most enjoyable holiday.

The hotel lobby and dining room are very gorgeous, as are the many outdoor seating areas and the beach. I wasn't wild about our room or the overall vibe of the hotel. The breakfast, while complimentary, was "meh" and nothing special. The concierge were not as helpful or friendly as I had hoped.

We have returned to Sorrento for twenty six years and stayed in various hotels but the Grand Hotel Ambasciatori is our all time favourite. We have stayed here for the last five visits and cannot speak too highly of the accommodation. On arrival you are greeted in an extremely friendly and efficient manner. The rooms are very well furnished and decorated and the ones with sea views are out of this world. Cleanliness is excellent and all the staff are friendly and very efficient, nothing is too much trouble to make your stay memorable. The food is excellent with the menu offering a huge choice. The evening entertainment is of a very high standard.
Travel to the Amalfi coast is very easy either by bus, coach or sea. There is so much wonderful scenery to take in around the coast that a book on walking in the area is a must. The icecreams are heaven. Sorrento and surrounding area is paradise. Can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the gardens and sea have the best views however all rooms are well furnished.

We stayed for 1 week late September 2013. Didn't request a sea-view/pool view room. Got a room on 7th floor which had a 'side view' of coast. Room was small - very limited storage space. However it was elegantly decorated/furnished, the bed was comfortable, the air-con worked, and the ensuite was good. Be careful when when booking a room here however as there is a small football stadium directly across the street from the hotel and the road itself is a main thoroughfare into town - so best to ask for a room away from this side of the hotel.
The pool area/outside seating area is very nice/attractive with great views across the bay. The 'beach' area was also great - very relaxing and it was good to able to swim in the sea down there. All the hotel staff were very pleasant/attentive.
The hotel is well located - walk into town takes about 10-15minutes and it's situation in Sorrento gives it the benefit of the late summer sun which for other hotels on the opposite side of town is not the case.
Our only negative comment relates to the standard of food at dinner. (We booked B&B only - there is just so much choice for going out for dinner in Sorrento). However, we did book dinner in the hotel on one occasion and is was very disappointing - menu choices were great but the quality of cooking was woeful.
So if we were to return to Sorrento we would certainly book this hotel again - being careful to ask for a room away from the main road/football stadium and going 'B&B' only.

This is a first class hotel with a great location and superb service delivered by professional and friendly staff.
The food is also excellent.

It is very handy for the train to Pompeii/Herculaneum/Vesuvius and also the busses and boats to the Amalfi coast and Capri.

We had an excellent holiday here

We stayed at the Hotel in September 2013 for our Honeymoon and had a most wonderful time. Our room had two balconies one overlooking the pool and the other the sea. The room was so lovely and we had the best nights sleep ever each night we stayed. The only noise was that of the sea and the breeze. At night there was often a cruiser in the bay all lit up and the views during the day were fabulous. I'd recommend Sorrento to anyone for a relaxing time. We only had breakfast at the hotel as we really wanted to experience the local food as much as possible, but nevertheless the breakfast was great, a good selection and always fresh.

The beach decking was a little tired but all the seating was first class. I spent plenty of time snorkelling and looking at fish around the rocks which was all pretty safe.

Room Tip: Try not to get a first floor room over the kitchen or dining room to avoid food smells
