From the moment we walked through the doors we knew we had made the right choice .
Clean and airy the reception and the staff were most welcoming.
Without going into too much detail( see other reviews) everything was how it should be.
Great service,food,room,views.
Not a single problem all week.
A short walk into town, with many bars and restaurants
We have been to Sicily Ischia and Amalfi and this place compares favourably with them all.
The staff in the hotel are always happy to serve you( with a smile and a joke) whatever your
needs.

We stayed here at the end of May for a week to celebrate my birthday with my brother and his partner. From the outset we were impressed with the welcome we received from the reception staff. They proved to be , along with all the other staff we came into contact with, genuinely helpful and friendly throughout our stay. Our room (712) is located on the top floor (3rd above ground level) and had a side sea view looking out over the pool and gardens. My brother was in 710, which had a much larger balcony and closer to the sea. That said, both our rooms were lovely, well maintained, and exceptionally clean. Breakfast was a delight, with the dining room having panoramic views over the bay to Vesuvius. The buffet provided a wide range of quality food, and there is even Prosecco on ice for those that want it! Well located an easy 10 min walk from Piazza Tasso. Couldn't fault it, a lovely hotel and would stay again without any hesitation.

We stayed in this hotel for a short break in June. The staff are friendly and efficient and the hotel is beautiful. Everywhere was very clean and the views magnificent. It is in a quiet area but located well for the centre of Sorrento and the train station. Trips organised through the hotel were well worth going on.

Me and my girlfriend stayed here for a week in July 2012 and couldn't have been happier! It was our first trip to this part of Italy and Sorrento so we really didn't know what to expect or where to start on looking for a hotel. In the end a friend recommended this hotel and I'm so glad I took their advice as this place is just stunning in every way.

Location: the hotel is situated about 10 minutes (ish) walk from the centre of Sorrento. This works in favour of the place in many ways. First it is not on one of the main roads so it is nice and quiet in the evening and at night. The walk into the centre is a delight as you get to look out over the bay of naples for most of it. From the hotel we could get a train or a ferry to explore the coast with pretty little effort of planning which was ideal for us. Also at no point in and around the hotel or Sorrento did we feel vulnerable at all.

The staff: every member of staff we spoke to was a delight. We did our best to speak some Italian but to be honest that wasn't an issue. Everyone was helpful, happy and always happy to chat or provide a bit of assistance/advice. The were a credit to the place and if I could remember names I would thank them individually.

The hotel: What a beautiful place! The rush of well needed cool refreshing air when you walk into building is the first thing you notice and then you feast your eyes on a calming and very sleek Italian decor. The hotel is very open plan and spacious which adds to the relaxed feel to the place...this is a feeling which just flows from every aspect of this hotel. Eating breakfast overlooking the Bay of Naples, relaxing by the pool surrounded by Italian gardens, relaxing on a comfortable sun chair down on the hotel's own private decking, swimming in the sea in the hotel's small bay looking out towards Mount Vesuvius, enjoying a tasty cocktail in the evening or at night either looking out to the lights of Naples across the bay or whilst enjoying a bit of light musical entertainment. This place is just the epitome of class and relaxation. At no point during our whole holiday did we feel crowded. There were times when we were sat having a drink at night and there was no one around at all except the bar staff. Even at breakfast there was never a feeling of over crowding...and this was during their busy season...this was a nice approach by the hotel.

Food and drink: I was blown away by the tastes and flavours of Italy and this hotel was no exception to that. Breakfast was the perfect start to every day and enjoyed with spectacular views. There was a great selection of freshly cooked hot and cold food to suit everyone's taste...even a free drop of champaign if you fancied it. As I've already mentioned we took full advantage of the drinks and cocktails which were very tasty and enjoyed all the more with the views on offer. There are other snack bars to eat at during the day (including one down by the hotel's sea level deck). You can also opt to dine at the hotels restaurant in the evening for a very reasonable price. We decided to eat here once during our trip (we didn't do this more often only because we wanted to try different places). The chefs here really are a master at their craft. We had a 4 course meal which really was superb! During this meal they had music from two entertainers which was a subtle nice touch and added nicely to the evening. During this meal the hotel staff also brought out a cake and champagne to celebrate another guest's 100th birthday and we felt both privileged to be apart of it and impressed by the hospitality shown by all in the hotel.

The room: We decided not to book an ocean view room and opted for one facing out over the front...I'm really happy we made this decision as the room was fantastic plus you only had to walk out of your room and into the hotel to get the full panoramic views your wanted. However as you look up from the hotel decking there are plenty of sea view rooms and I'm sure they give a nice image to wake up to. The rooms delivered everything you would expect from a beautiful place. Very clean, spacious and all the amenities you would expect. Fully air conditioned (which again is a must with the heat outside) and we slept very well all week.

Price: The cost was a little bit more expensive than other places we scouted in the area but worth every penny of that extra money. As I've said I couldn't fault the hotel at all but the views offered by the place really are a gem. It's easy for these views to get lost as you venture around Sorrento so to have this all to yourself every evenings and most mornings is just superb.

Firstly If you are thinking of heading to Sorrento I would! Then I would seriously consider staying at this hotel. It really did make our trip and would go back tomorrow if I could.

My wife and I stayed here for seven nights with our family to celebrate my mother in laws 70th birthday. She had visited Sorrento 14 years ago and has always wanted to come back. We had three rooms on the first floor with pool/garden views which were really nice, well maintained and cleaned well everyday.

My wife and I had our 22 month old with us and the cot provided was great with a cute little duvet.

There are so many positive things I could write but will keep it brief. The décor is grand, the gardens beautifully kept with citrus trees, breath taking views, breakfast was fantastic in a white washed bright calm restaurant - I loved walking in there first thing in the morning. The last word and biggest plus though goes to the quality staff - nothing was too much trouble, they heated our little ones milk 2-3 times a day with a smile, cleaned clothes in less than 24 hours and were always there when needed.

A Grand hotel in the true sense of the word.

We didn't stay here but did come to the restaurant as we didn't like the theme night menu at the royal (sister hotel) The service was perfect , the view wonderful and the food superb. The maitre D was exceedingly welcoming. Thank you for a lovely evening at a table watching the sun go down on the balcony

This was our 7th holiday at the Ambasciatori. Over the past three or four years extensive refurburbishment has been going on making ones stay even more relaxing and pleasurable. Service cannot be faulted. However, as a slight adjunct to this, on our last night we were kept waiting for our first course for almost 30 minutes, which seemed surprising as there were only 3 tables occupied in the dining room with very adequate waiting staff, attentive and excellent as always. A gentle reminder produced our pasta so all was well. We realised later that chef must have been very busy preparing haute cuisine for a la carte guests who were dining al fresco. Understandable perhaps but really, to us, a little impolite. I guess though that this was a very unusual blip in the smooth running of the guests dining room and is unlikely to happen again,
In short, the Ambasciatori deserves every one of its 4 stars.
