On arrival to Sorrento it didn't look how we imagined until we finally found our way into the main area. Cars are restricted and parking is very tight. Once we arrived we were instantly greeted and relieved of our luggage and car. We were warmly welcomed and given a little tour of the facilities. The all day snacks and drinks were very welcomed and the staff became extremely attentive and helpful. The views from the hotel and the veranda was breathtaking and the facilities were as expected, however my tips for everyone are as follows: Get a cab from the airport as its cheaper than car hire due to no free parking in in Sorrento. Hotel charges 25 Eur per day. Also take a travel iron as the hotel does not provide iron and board in room, so it could be costly. Also take some DVDs as the TV is all Italian unless you like the news.
The hotel has a lift service that takes you to the decking area to sunbathe, however we recommend that you use the first area which is not owned by the hotel as it is roomier and offers good snacks too. Advice is to take a ferry to Capri, and drive to Positano and Ravello. Enjoy your stay and enjoy the beautiful hotel with its decor and service.

Really Amazing hotel! Everything is excellent, since the welcome reception, the staff, rooms and breakfast! Well located and few blocks from center downtown.
Definitely will come back!

What an amazing hotel. Expensive but worth the money. Staff and service were excellent at this hotel and everyone was very friendly. Hotel is in an excellent location, really central but tucked away at the same time so very peaceful. Overlooking the sea high up on the rocks so amazing views from the hotel rooms/restaurants etc. Beautifully decorated throughout the hotel. There is no pool but i believe you can use the Hilton hotel's pool which is nearby as its a sister hotel but actaully this didn't bother us at all as this hotel has its own private sunbathing deck below it out on the sea and there are steps from the sunbathing deck into the sea for you to swim which is gorgeous. Marios the guy working at the sunbathing deck was very nice and friendly and very helpful. There were never any problems getting a sunbed either which was a bonus. The best bit is that you get free drinks (all kinds, alcoholic and non alcoholic) and snacks all day from 9am-9pm which is brilliant considering how expensive Italy is (£5 for a can of coke!!) Loved this hotel and would definitely recommend it and go back.
Thanks for a lovely stay.

Just spent a week at this wonderful hotel. It is a most beautiful location perched on the cliff overlooking the Bay of Naples with Vesuvius as a backdrop. The hotel has been wonderfully developed from an old villa with tasteful antiques furnishing the rooms and corridors.
We stayed in a deluxe room with twin balconies overlooking the bay, very quiet, lovely bathroom, large double bed, extremely comfortable.
The hotel is perfectly situated in the centre of Sorrento with its many restaurants and bars a short walk away. There is also a lift down to the private deck for sun bathing and relaxing.
My one criticism would be that the food was not quite up to the standard of the excellent accommodation, however in some respects this is of little import given the excellent dining opportunities presented in the town. That said the light buffet available throughout the day did provide good light refreshments, including a bar, all of which were inclusive.
The Syrene is by no means cheap but we thought it worth the price and will certainly be going back.

Room Tip: Standard rooms are smaller and on lower floors. Definetly worth the extra for a deluxe room, 602 to...

This Hotel is a beautiful hotel the staff are very friendly, and the free wine and nibbles on the terrace over looking the Bay of Naples, is a most wonderful way to relax in the evening. It is very close to the shops and resturants (two minutes walk), but at the same time quiet in the hotel. The private sun terrace is a lovely place to relax and a cool breeze always seems to be coming off the sea. The breakfast is very nice with a choice of cooked items on the menu, as well as an extensive continental type buffet. Just one word of warning, in rooms 103, 104 and 105, when there is a wedding in the hotel, the terrace they use is right above your ceiling and the sound of heavy metal chairs being dragged across the tiled floor can keep you awake until the early hours.

Boy, the negative reviews of this hotel are very negative, and to be honest I have no idea why or how people could have a poor experience at the Bellevue Syrene Hotel in Sorrento. The hotel itself and its setting is absolutely fantastic. It is set on the top of cliff (which used to be a Roman fortress) overlooking the crystal-blue waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The staff were great, the breakfast was fine (one reviewer said it was chaotic? Getting your own breakfast? It didn't seem that way to us.), and the rooms aren't paved in gold, but they are very clean and have what you need. The best part about the hotel, besides the location, were the free drinks served for most of the day outside on the veranda. The swimming area was quite nice, too. The platform for the hotel is small compared to the other decks around there, but it wasn't run down when we were there (June 2011) as one reviewer stated. The town itself is fun -- it is quite touristy, but it's a tourist destination, so that is to be expected.
