Everything about this hotel was perfect _except_ the shoddy WiFi. But I can't get too upset about it, because we were on vacation, after all. The building is beautiful and historic, and provided a stunning view of the bay from the balcony. The restaurant offers complimentary snacks during the evening, and has a very pleasant restaurant for dinner. We also very much enjoyed the breakfast service. The staff were all very gracious with their time, and did everything possible for wonderful stay. We will most definitely return if we ever make it back to Sorrento!

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room with a view of the bay -- it makes the whole experience!

This grand beauty of a hotel has been decorated by Marco de Lucca and was the cherry on top of our Italian vacation. Stunning decor throughout, everywhere the eye falls is beautiful! The staff was friendly & helpful - the service and food was exceptional! The beds... ah, the fine linens and soft pillows were like a hug - slept like a baby. Gorgeous views and within walking distance to all you need. I could live there!

We recently spent 8 days at the Bellevue Syrene. It is in absolutely perfect location. It's right in Sorrento, but just outside the crowds. And the views are breathtaking. We arrived at the hotel in the rain and were immediately escorted into the club room - which is the best idea I've seen at a hotel. There are complimentary drinks and food throughout the day - ideal after a long day of traveling or sightseeing or for a pre-dinner cocktail! Our room was very lovely - spacious with double terraces with the amazing view of Sorrento and the coast of Naples. We could sit and just look out for hours! Our only complaint was that we were on the top floor and the room was very hot. After a mostly sleepless night, we asked the front desk how to work the AC and they told us it had been shut off for the season - which we found very odd since it was still pretty warm. They said they had the heat on 2x per night and would make sure it wouldn't go on in our room. Well, whether they did or not, the next night was even hotter. We complained again and the manager was kind, but told us it wasn't possible to split the air and heat and that we could either open our terrace windows to sleep or he'd move us to a room on a lower floor where it's cooler. We waited until the middle of our trip to complain and by then, didn't want to switch rooms, so opted to open the windows, which workekd pretty well. We found the heat issue very odd and annoying, but appreciated their willingness to move us. For future guests I'd recommend asking for a room in the 400 or 500s (room numbers don't correspond to floors) as they're the nicest and most temperate. Also, we came just at the end of the summer season, but had it been warmer would have wanted a pool. I asked the travel agent who booked us several times about a pool and was really surprised that the Bellevue Syrene doesn't have one - there's plenty of space with all the terraces they have and rarely use. All the comparable hotels in Sorrento, the Amalfi Coast and Capri have pools, so I would think that they'd want to stay competitive. Not sure I'd go back in warmer months without one. I've also read mixed reviews about the staff. We loved Francesco and Mario and they were always very helpful to us and willing to answer questions. Many of the other staff weren't as helpful or friendly and often acted as though we were bothering them if we asked for directions or the name of a restaurant. For one of the top hotels in Sorrento I think that the temperature issues, pool and service should really be addressed.

Room Tip: Choose a room in one of the middle floors (rooms in 400-500 #s - #s don't correspond to floors...

Amazing hotel, lovely rooms, beautiful location. Service was excellent, the free executive lounge was fantastic spent many an hour sipping proseco in the conservatory. The breakfast was excellent although the coffee was awful. Overall loved our stay, highly recommended.

The Bellevue Syrene with its stunning location and pheonomenal views of Vesuvius and the pumice cliffs of Sorrento was our dream hotel for a dream holiday. From the moment we arrived down the vine-covered walkway, we were entranced. We enjoyed freshly squeezed orange juice on the terrace and drank in the panorama while our luggage was brought to our room.

We had chosen a deluxe sea view room, and it was perfect: decorated in blue tones with quirky furnishings, a mini library and a large and well-appointed bathroom with a very generous selection of La Source Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries, a separate walk in shower, and best of all, a view of Vesuvius from the king size bed. Despite being so centrally located, it was quiet, with only the sea sounds and the occasional ship's horn breaking the silence. Service was excellent, and the room was refreshed several times a day.

The reception rooms in the hotel were special as well, as you can see from the photos - decorated in a style in keeping with the hotel's name, lots of mermaids, ships' sculptures, seashells, coral, etc. with lavish Murano glass chandeliers and opulent soft furnishings.

While the hotel has no pool, it has its own swimming deck down on the sea. Unfortunately, this closes quite early in the day in October because it loses the sun around 3 PM, so you can't swim much after that. It's a bit of a walk, too, but we didn't mind as it was quiet and quiet private.

We dined in the restaurant a couple of times. The food was good, not fantastic, but the atmosphere on the terrace, with views over Sorrento and back to the Naples night time skyline, was wonderful. The discreet piano music added to the ambiance. Even if you don't stay at the hotel, the restaurant is worth checking out for the views, especially if there's a fireworks display on for the cruise ships.

Breakfast was excellent, served in a large room with floor to ceiling windows affording more lovely views. There was a huge choice of food options, and freshly squeezed orange juice you made yourself with a machine that was fun to use!

Service was good - not the friendliest we encountered (outside of the housekeeping staff, who were very friendly), but efficient. English is spoken well, better than you'd expect from their website!

There is also a small spa with a good range of treatments.

The hotel has a real sense of bygone times and the luxury of the Grand Tour, and it played a major role in ensuring Sorrento was one of the best holidays we've ever had.

Room Tip: We think we got one of the smaller deluxe rooms, room 407, so you might want to ask when booking. Th...

First impressions were outstanding, the views were breathtaking. We arrived and the receptionist greeted us by showing us to a table on a terrace with a glass of champane and took care of all of the details while we rested and toasted the views. We stayed in a "lift suite, rm 501" which means that the elevator opens into your living room. The room was beatuful and huge to say the least. I was disappointed that when I tipped the bellhop for our luggage, i gave him 20 euros and asked him for 10 back which he said that he would get change and never came back. He spoke very good english and understood, so that dissapointed me and raised a red flag. The room was arranged stangely due to the fact that you had to walk throught he bedroom and the master bathroom to get to the huge terrace. We were traveling with another couple and they thought that it was weird as well.Breakfest was great and the views were fantastic! Overall, this hotel was the nicest hotel that we stayed at in europe but we did not get the friendly "How can we help" spirit from the staff with the exception of the first greeting. Don't get me wrong the staff was there when we needed them, and helped us a lot but just that feeling of we are interupting them was there. We left this hotel and went to Capri and stayed at the La Scalinatella which doesn't have the wow of this hotel but the service and greeting by name every day will blow you away.

Room Tip: You really do not need a suite the rooms are huge. We traveled with another couple and they had a s...
