We had an eleven night stay at the hotel for our Honeymoon in May. The location was great - just a five minute walk from the main town square and the port. We thought the hotel was fantastic - the reception was light and airy and there was a lovely bar and piano room. We stayed in a Junior Suite which was spacious and had 2 balconies, both overlooking the sea with wonderful views. There was champagne in the room upon our arrival owing to the detail that it was our Honeymoon. The pool and area around the pool was great and well maintained. The jetty was also lovely although the sunloungers here needed to be hired.

We stayed bed and breakfast so that we could eat somewhere different every night of which there were many, many restaurants to choose from in and around the main town square. The breakfast was good - lots of choice and a spacious restaurant, with lovely views overlooking the sea.

We found the staff to be welcoming and friendly and helpful without being overbearing. We arranged several excursions via the hotel concierge, all of which were great and well organised. Overall, we had a wonderful honeymoon and would return to this hotel in the future.

My 21 yr old and I stayed 3 days at this hotel in Mid May. It was wonderful. The restauraunt is wonderful. They bedrooms were spacious. Try to get a room to the side of the property or upgrade to the back of the property. The front of the property from 10pm to about 1AM is pretty noisy with street traffic. The front desk gentlemen were very accomodating and helped us with all of our questions. We will definitely make a trip back to Sorrento in the future, and we will definitely stay at the Imerial Tramontano.

My family and i have just returned from an amazing 2 week stay at the Tramontano. We have a 2 year old child who was made very welcome by all the staff, we were a bit worried about this as the hotel seems to be aimed at couples and older travellers, it was not a problem though, they seemed to like children. On our arrival we were given a room down two flights of stairs, not very practical with a pushchair and no lift facility! The room was also a bit on the small side and a bit narrow ,after a chat with the management we got upgraded to a lovely spacious junior suite the next day, with a fantastic sea view and on the same level as reception. We loved the views definately worth paying exrta for, be sure to remove furniture from the balcony though if you have small children.. a bit scary!! The housekeeping were friendly and we had our beds changed and fresh towels everyday. We found the breakfast good with a large variety to choose from. The pool area was clean, well maintained and nice and quiet. You can also use the hotel lift to go up and down to leonelli's beach club where there are bathing platforms and a sandy beach. To use this facility it can be a bit pricey! as they charge for beds and parasols. The hotel is only a few minutes walk from the main square where there are lots of lovely shops and restaurants.

The main reason for our trip was for our wedding, we had the ceremony at the beautiful cloisters next to the hotel then our reception was at the Tramontano. The staff were amazing and nothing was to much trouble, the service was 100%. On our return from the ceremony we had canapes and cocktails on the terrace, then we went through to the main restaurant for a formal sit down dinner. The food was great, we had chosen a menu for our 20 guests a few days before the wedding. The hotel also made us the most beautiful cake which we all loved! All our male guests were wearing kilts so it was extremely warm for them, however the hotel switched on the air conditioning which was a bonus and much more comfortable for everyone. We would definately recommend this hotel for weddings, the view from the restaurant is fabulous and the staff couldn't do enough for us to make our day extra special.

Just returned from 7 nights at this hotel ,definately not 5* but in a great location. We were persuaded to upgrade to seaview at extra £158 but it was like a prison cell.Very dark and the 'Balcony' you could barely squeeze 2 people on.Breakfast very good but everything else extremely expensive in hotel.Absolutely loved sorrento and can't wait to go back but will be staying elsewhere.

Recall those lovely old-fashioned hotels in the movies ? Where the staff glide about answering your every wish and desire. Where the rooms are spotless. Where they change your sheets and towels every day. Where the barman remembers your drink and your room number after the first evening. Where the concierge can get you ANYTHING you require; be it a taxi, tour, tickets etc. Where some of the rooms have terraces larger than some hotel rooms.
Then, my fellow travellers, you have found the Imperial Tramontano in Sorrento.
We really couldn't fault this hotel.
We stayed for 7 nights and would liked to have stayed for another month.
I was told that some of the staff have been there more than 30 years and their true professionalism shows through all the time.
We didn't try the hotel restaurant but used some of the dozens of local restaurants within 20 minutes walking distance (at least 10 of them within 10 minutes walking).
The hotel building itself is light and airy, yet charmingly a little old-fashioned with huge settees and armchairs in the massive main reception area and the smaller lounges (there is a smoking lounge for those who hate standing outside).

We have just returned from this hotel and have to say we were disappointed. It is very centrally located and we found it to be very clean but apart from that we could find little in its favour. Our room was situated low down in the hotel and was absolutely freezing we didn't want to get out of bed in the mornings it was so cold and we dreaded going back there in the daytime. We had paid for a sea view and "fixed balcony" what ever that means but the balcony was so small that it was extremely difficult to fit two people on it. Also it was only a door width wide and the door swung open onto the balcony so it took a bit of doing to get in and out by moving the chairs etc. The room itself was quite a good size and so was the bathroom and the shower was good. It had twin beds rather than a double for some reason and the drapes were very old and covered a lot of the window blocking out what little view we had (the rest of the building jutted out obscuring some of the view).

The pool was quite nice but it had wicker type sunbeds that looked attractive but were very uncomfortable. Also there were no umbrellas around the pool and no built in sunshades on the sun beds so difficult to find any shade at all. I am sure the hotel wasn't full but it was sometimes difficult to find a sunbed even at this time of year.

The only time we saw any people in the hotel was at breakfast or around the pool the hotel seemed deserted in the evenings. We went to try the bar on a few occasions but would have been alone in a drab and dreary bar area. There is a little balcony attached to the bar where you could have drinks but this was also deserted when we looked. There was nothing at all to attract you to stay in the hotel.

This hotel has all of its gardens at the front of the hotel so you get no sea view from the gardens apart from one small gap between two buildings at the bottom of an alley. It doesn't even have its own bathing platform you need to use a public one.

Like previous reviewers we were disappointed with the fact that there was no orange juice available at breakfast. They provided some horrible jugs of brightly coloured liquid which they claimed was a mixture of juices but tasted disgusting. I am not sure whether it was made with powder or concentrate of some kind but was certainly not juice. Breakfast was otherwise adequate no egg station but some pre-cooked eggs and some sausage and bacon but nothing to go with it such as mushrooms or tomato. There were cereals, yoghurts, bread, jam etc and if you are into cakes for breakfast there were plenty of those. I ordered a fresh orange juice by the pool one day and that even tasted watered down, I find this hard to understand in a country where oranges grow freely even in the streets.

We have previously stayed at the Ambasciatori which is a beautiful hotel with wonderful gardens and terraces with stunning views and lots of different areas to sunbathe or read and relax all with wonderful views. The Ambasciatori had a lively buzzy atmosphere and you were encouraged to spend time there. The food was also excellent. I am afraid the Tramontano felt more like an old people's home. Not once did anyone ask us if everything was OK or if we were having a nice time. It will be the Ambasciatori for us next time.

y friend and I have just returned from a four day stay at this hotel and must say that I found this hotel to be a little dissapointing. On the positive side I would say this hotel has beautiful views and is in a central position for absolutely everything and public areas are lovely. We booked a twin junior suite and on arrival asked if we could have tea making facilities in the room (which we were happy to pay extra for) bgut this was not possible. We had tea delievered to our room in the morning and then again later in the afternoon which not onlky were were charged 8 euros for but at the end of the stay they also charged 7euros each time to for the service which makes it a very expensive cup of tea, my advice is to take your own kettle. The breakfast was ok if not a little boring, There were lights out in our bathroom which were not replaced in the four days we were there and the room was not dusted or hoovered and the beds were not that comfortable., Some of the staff were friendly but many were not. Would we go there again? no I think not.
