“Location cannot be beat!”

We stayed near the end of September, and lucked into off-season pricing. We did not get a room with a sea view, but we did have a little outdoor area with chairs. The weather is still fabulous this time of year. The breakfast was truly a sumptous buffet , with almost too many choices! The breakfast dining room has stunning views overlooking the Bay of Naples. At night, the bar serves fun "long drinks" and of course, there's that view. Helpful staff, great room and bathroom with wonderful amenities. I've already recommended this hotel!

Fabulous - friendly attentive staff - excellent food in the restaurant - terrific breakfast buffet and lovely views from the rooms. Only complaint - mosquito bites!! If I had known about them, would have gone prepared!

We visited Sorrento again after a gap of 10 years and were not disappointed. We chose the Tramontano mainly for its position and some lovely photos in the Citalia brochure. We paid for a room with a sea view and a French balcony. It seems a bit of a lottery as to the size of the room allocated .Our room on the third floor was rather small with not too much drawer space, the bathroom was also small (the door hit the bidet when you opened it). That said the room was adequate and spotlessly clean. The view from our balcony was beautiful.
The staff were very friendly especially the restaurant staff, who are overseen by a very efficient but extremely courteous maitre d'. The breakfast buffet was excellent and anyone with a sweet tooth will be in their element with a large table full of cakes and pastries. However the hotel seems quite keen on various strange cordials instead of fresh juice. We also had dinner in the restaurant choosing from the set menu @ 30 euros. The meal in this beautiful setting was excellent.
We found Sorrento somewhat expensive but much of this was down to the weakness of sterling.
We ate out on our remaining 6 nights. we particularly enjoyed il Giardiniello ( simple pizzeria with a Fawlty Towers air), Da Emiglia at the Marina grande,la Lanterna and Inn Buffalito.
Don't miss Pompei and Herculanium and the Amalfi coast.
Finally BEWARE the mosqitoes, Sorrento mosqitoes are a particularly vicious and sneaky bunch. Spray on plenty of insect repellent.

A lovely, elegant, romantic, hotel in the tradition of the Grand European Tours. Bedrooms are large with sitting areas and beautiful furnishings, large baths with beautiful tile, inlaid wood floors and furnishings, antique art work. This is a hotel Byron, Keats, and Shelly would love....and they did because they stayed here! Front desk staff is English speaking and very accommodating. We ate both breakfast and dinner in the hotel overlooking the sea and the food was superb. Breakfast includes 15 different types of pastry, eggs, sausage, fruit, anything one could think of to eat for breakfast. Dinner was gourmet with a friendly and attentive staff. Cozy, view bar. Garden with palms, begonia, gazebo and pool. Good bed and quiet and peaceful.

We have just spent a week at the Tramontano and it was absolutely fantastic. We were upgraded as it was our anniversary (we got married in Sorrento 3 years ago in Cloisters) and given a suite - it was fantastic with views over the bay, our balcony had sun chairs as well as a table with chairs. Breakfast was absolutely lovely with all you could wish for - the views whilst eating is the view we had all the week from our balcony - the bay! I would recommended this hotel as the best we've stayed in whilst in Sorrento - we've been 3 times now and would definitely return.

Beautiful hotel, particularly for a special occasion, Fabulous restaurant, great service, breathtaking view from restaurant and bar balcony, especially at night. We had a lovely room, chosen by the Bride, with large corner balcony and garden view. Very central to everything in Sorrento.
On the down side, the hot water flow to the hand basin in the bathroom could be improved.
All-in-all, can't wait to go back!

We stayed at this hotel in September. As other write ups we can confirm the rooms are small and have inadequate storage space. We had a sea view with a very small French Balcony with great views of Versuvius. Staff were curtious and pleasant. One down side if you have a car it is 13 euros to park at the hotel per day.
The hotel itself is OK, nicely placed for the town centre.Thats the problem. Sorrento is like a posh Blackpool, totally overcrowded, tacky and noisy. The food/drink in the town is extremely expensise (5 euro for a beer, 11 euro for a simple plate of spagetti) and is not of a very high quality. We did not like it at all.
On the plus side the scenery around the Almalfi coast is spectacular and must not be missed.Herculanium was very interesting and can be reached by the local train service between Sorrento and Naples as can Pompeii.
Would I go back, probably not. You can get a lot more for your money in better hotels and with scenery just as nice within Europe for a fraction of the price.
