spent some of my honey moon at the Bristol. I had requested a room high up having read the other reviews. i got a room on the 7th floor, big and spacious with a huge balcony and completely clean, we loved it.
breakfast is really nice but the staff are a bit over friendly - that might only make sense to others who have stayed here.
we are in our 30s but main guests were a lot older but this did not bother us in the slightest.
we did not have dinner here as there are lots of other places to try out.
location is great, only a short walk to town. they should get wifi in like most modern hotels.
all in all i would recommend this hotel due to the amazing views and the high standard of cleanliness.

Room Tip: 728 was great!

This is a lovely place to stay if you visit Sorrento...within walking distance of the main town and with magical views over the bay of Naples.
The staff in the hotel were consistently good, and attentive and the visitors' book was testimony to that. From reception, to restaurant to bedroom cleaning personnel, there was nothing to criticise, and all staff left you with the impression that it was their privilage to cater to your needs
The dining room was situated on the 7th floor and clients were shown to a table by the head waiter. Thankfully there was no 'sharing'of tables unless requesteed and over the week we sat in various locations, often looking out on the bay
Breakfast was a mixture of buffet, and waiter service, with orders taken promptly, and eggs cooked to order and exactly as requested. At no time did we sit at a table that was not completely and perfectly set. The array of fresh fruit changed daily and was delicious, as were the varieties of bread and pastries served each morning. 'Champagne' was always sitting in an ice bucket ready to be mixed for bucks fizz, or taken 'undiluted'...a great start to the day.
Dinner, was a traditional three course Italian meal, waiter served, with a salad buffet to start. While providing good variety, many guests felt it did not match up to the standad of the rest of the hotel, and only when compared to eating in some of the local restaurants, did we realise that this was true. Overall, it was acceptable, but improvements could be made in the quality and choice of menu. Service at all times was immaculate, with the courtesy of staff compensating for a less than perfect dining experience.
Bedrooms were modern, clean, comfortable and well furnished...all of which went practically unnoticed with the spectacular views from every floor.
This hotel would earn its 5 stars, if the dinner each evening was better, and if i a free wifi service was provided to its clients...as many other hotels of inerior standard do.
Without doubt would recommend this hotel....preferrably on a bed and breakfast basis, as there are many excellent restaurants within walking distance.
It mig also worth consideration by management, to istal walk i showers instead, r as well, as abath, wich we fund was slppy andvery narrow at the base.

Room Tip: Definitly worth getng a room with a balcony and view but not sure that the higher floors are any qui...

The room we were given was 310 a lovely room, very clean and spacious with really comfy bed. The downside was that we paid for a sea view with balcony, as we love to sit and admire the views. As other reviews state, the view was spectacular but the balcony was over a very busy road with constant traffic going by. The noise did not seem any better even at night. The noise made it impossible for us to sit on our balcony and enjoy the views. I also found it difficult to sleep because of the constant noise. In fairness when we asked to be moved, the reception staff were very helpful and offered us one of the garden rooms. This was not in the hotel but quite a walk up a very steep hill. Because of the walk we did not find the room to be suitable. We had read on trip advisor to ask for a high floor room because of traffic noise, but when we emailed prior to our holiday we were informed that high floor rooms could not be requested.

The hotel staff were excellent. Everyone was so friendly and helpful.Nothing was too much trouble.

The restaurant was on the 7th floor and had spectacular views. The breakfast was the best we have had at any hotel that we have stayed in. Lovely fresh fruit, freshly cooked bacon and eggs, delicious pastries, fresh orange juice, nice coffee, and wine if you wanted it. The evening meal had quite a good selection including vegetarian options. If you did not like anything on the menu alternatives were offered. We found the pasta dishes to be excellent but some of the meat dishes were not so nice. I had a couple of meals which i did not like at all. If you don't like your meal and leave it on the plate, the maitre d seems to take it personally and insists that you choose another option, o ensure you enjoy your meal.

The rooftop pool is icy cold, there are lots of sunbeds and again a spectacular view. Towels are taken off sunbeds if they are left unattended for long.

We liked the hotel and would have loved it if it was not for the noise from the busy road. We looked at the location of other hotels in Sorrento and if we were going to visit Sorrento again we would still choose the Bristol and just hope for a higher floor room.

Room Tip: High floor but it seems to be luck of the draw

The views are magnificent and the housekeeping is of the highest quality .
It is built though , bang on one of the busiest roads out of Sorrento , traffic noise is constant throughout the day and evening. Most rooms have balconies which appear to be very popular with the smokers if they are not using the designated cigar room , pretty well in the middle of the hotel.
Our group consisted of 5 persons . At first dinner we had an excellent window table but the Maitre d advised for breakfast it would not be possible sit together as most tables were arranged in twos or fours and so it turned out to be . I mentioned to reception that it seemed strange for such a large hotel to have this problem , they had a word with the maitre d who very kindly arranged a permanently reserved table for 5 of us at the very rear corner of the dining room for he said "all of October if we wanted it " (oh the Italians).
Cheapest champagne on wine list for little celebration over 70 euros for Moet .
I know good hotels down the road could accommodate groups of 5 or more , comfortably, and would seem well worth looking at if you are.

We stayed for the second time at the Hotel Bristol 3rd Oct - 10th, the staff are polite and helpful from the housemaid, bar staff, restaurant to the front desk. The food was beautifully prepared, if you were not happy with the menu they will accommodate you. They also cater for lactose intolerant and gluten free diets so ask when you arrive. The wine list is very nice. The piano bar has nice views and a different "artist"? each night. 8th floor superior room and balcony sunny and Vesuvius always there. Pasquale, Guiseppi, Luka, Paolo and the rest. " Bravo" Pool area and terrace just right for a tan. The must hotel to stay in Sorrento

Room Tip: Most rooms have sea view but go for one with a balcony suite.

We stayed here on the last "leg" of our honeymoon for six nights and had a brilliant time. It really does deserve the praise it seems to get on TripAdvisor.

We booked a comfort room, on booking we asked for their best one as we were on our honeymoon (we're cheeky like that!) and received an email assuring us that a room with a beautiful view had been reserved for us. It was on the sixth floor which was probably one of the best locations in the hotel with stunning views over Sorrento and Vesuvius (although to be fair pretty much all the rooms have stunning views). Because the fifth and sixth floors are set back a little there was less road noise (and it's quite a busy road) but having lived in London I barely noticed it. We had ordered champagne which was waiting for us alongside some complimentary fruit which we didn't expect. They made a great first impression.

We had dinner there only once during our stay, which was no reflection on the quality of the food or service - which was excellent - but because we like to get out and explore, eating out when we can. We made a reservation and it was a little uncomfortable being led in front of fully-occupied tables to one of the best tables right next to the window, and it was quite formal in an old grand hotel sort of way, but well worth it.

The hotel itself reminded us of that one in The Shining, fortunately not because it was haunted, or had a psychotic chainsaw-wielding Jack Nicholson or anything (although our room's toilet did have a habit of flushing itself which was a bit spooky) but mainly due to the decor which is quite similar. It is full of a generally older crowd, often on package holidays it seems and the occasional honeymooning couple. The evening entertainment in the bar was targeted mainly at them but we often went there for after-dinner drinks, and the walk into town is very easy so it doesn't really matter if it's not your cup of tea.

The service from the moment we arrived was impeccable - the whole hotel seems to revolve around you while you're there. I can't honestly think of a staff member who wasn't attentive and helpful. We even had the chambermaid ask us in the early evenings whether we wanted towels changed or anything, which I've never experienced before in any other hotel I've stayed in (although we weren't sure whether it was because we had a comfort room). We also got free wifi (although again that might depend on your room?) which just about worked in the room (I think it's designed to be used in the lobby).

I would definitely recommend the Bristol Hotel. We will certainly be visiting Sorrento and staying here again.

Room Tip: Like everyone else says; the higher the better for less road noise and larger balconies, although pr...

We stayed here for 4 days in September and the only regret we have about Bristol Hotel is that we didn’t stay longer!!! We stayed in room 618 and loved it! So spacious and clean and WONDERFUL view! Sorrento was one of the last stops of our 3 week Italian Honeymoon and by far our favorite. We loved everything about this hotel, the delicious breakfast, the great service and the perfect location. We didn’t eat dinner there but walked into town (only 10 minutes) every night and enjoyed trying many wonderful restaurants. You must eat at Da Gigino, our favorite restaurant in all of Italy! The pool was large and well maintained, we loved how relaxing it was. We will definitely return to Sorrento in the future and when we do, we will stay at Bristol Hotel.
