“Wonderful views, fantastic friendly staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 June 2012

Just back from 8 days at this wonderful hotel. It's worth the money for the views over Sorrento, let alone anything else. I couldn't praise the staff's helpfulness highly enough. I would have given it an excellent, however, we stayed on a half board basis and a couple to times the main meal course let them down slightly.

We stayed here for a few nights in mid June as part of a group of 11 for our wedding and held our wedding meal at the hotel.
We were treated superbly from the moment we entered the hotel. All rooms where ready for us (even though we arrived before check in time) and all where to an excellent standard. I can particulalry recommend the junior suites which are huge! The view from every room in this hotel were simply stunning.
The restaurant experince was fantastic - we were greeted warmly, the food was of a high standard, and the service, led by the wonderful Matteo was superb. We were well looked after each night with tables set up for us without issue regardless of our parties size.
The bar area is simply beautiful and has amazing views and made the perfect venue for pre and post dinner drinks. We thought that the prices where reasonable given we were drinking in a hotel.
The outside pool and terrace areas where also gorgeous, well maintained and spotless and a number of our group enjoyed some very lazy days around the pool and by the pool bar.
On the day of our wedding and for our wedding meal the hotel was absolutely first class. I would whole-heartedly recommend that anyone marrying in Sorrento considers the Bristol as their wedding venue. On returning to the hotel, we where shown to a private area of the bar where we had drinks and canapes and then moved to the roof terrace restaurant for our wedding meal. The wedding meal itself was absolutely amazing and the hotel went out of its way to make us feel special (Thankyou Ercole for all your help in the run up).
We look forward to returning to the Bristol next year to celebrate our first anniversary - we would not chose anywhere else in Sorrento.

This was our 7th stay at the Hotel Bristol and it is just a superb place to stay. We were upgraded to a junior suite which was amazing with a beautiful terrace and huge walk in shower (room 705) The views are incredible across the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius and in the evening you are often treated to a free firework display which are going off regularly across the Bay. The hotel is immaculate throughout and the pool is pretty much unbeatable for it's location, views and cleanliness. We stayed half board and the food was delicious, it is impossible to have a bad eating experience here. There are many great things about this Hotel but the thing that keeps us coming back is the staff and the service which is completely professional but always so friendly and welcoming. Gian-Paolo and Pepe looked after us very well in the bar, Pasquale and Matteo in the restaurants give top notch service and Salvatore on Reception cannot do enough for you, Luca for our wine choices suberb as always. Too many to name but all the staff are fantastic. Can't wait for the next time.

Room Tip: Sea view a must, junior suites 705 - 710 large terraces and stunning views.

This was the last stop in Italy on our delayed honeymoon.. and it was absolutely wonderful. We booked a room with a view and we were blown away when we entered our room. The view was spectacluar! We spent a lot of time in our gorgeous room and otherwise mostly at the pool or on excursions, so I cannot comment on the dining (aside from breakfast which was fantastic) or other ammenities. The property is lovely, especially the terrace and pool area. It was an easy walk to the main square and shopping areas and Sorrento in general I found to be a perfect location to base oursleves for excurisions to positano, amalfi, ravello, capri, etc.,.The gentlemen at the front desk were most accomodating and very professional and polite. As were the breakfast staff. Everything we experienced at this hotel was lovely and we were just thrilled and would return in a heartbeat. Thanks for the wonderful experience Bristol Hotel, we really hope return!

Room Tip: Highest floors with a view are spectacular!

Feels like coming home ,the welcome you get from the staff is a pleasure ,from the moment you arrive until the time you have to leave, you are made to feel special .The views are unbeatable and Luigi keeps the pool spotless. If you want to spend some time relaxing in the prettiest surroundings ,I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. On reception Ercole ,Salvatore,Tony and Antonio are a pleasure to deal with. And in the restaurants Pasquale and Matteo and all the staff are so helpful, cannot wait to go back.

Room Tip: The hotel is built into the side of the cliffs so nearly all the rooms have a sea view. The sun stay...

The Hotel Bristol came recommended and indeed is popular with most visitors. In general it is a VERY traditional hotel, staffed by very polite Italian men, with a formal air. The best part of the hotel for us was the roof terrace area and the pool area beside it. Well placed and calm. Our room was in what appears to be a newer extension built onto the terrace level and had paper thin walls so we could hear every sound from the rooms either side. Finally the gym was part of our decision and was very poor...a few machines, a few small plastic weights and a grubby foam mat.
The Hotel is built into the cliff face on the coast road leading out of Sorrento and a reasonable walk is required to get into the town on a narrow path by what is a busy road...a negative point for us although the position gave lovely views over the town.
Breakfasts were good with a wide choice of food - fairly standard for a large hotel. Our major disappointment was at dinner time. We ate in the restaurant four times before giving up. On the third evening I chose roasted peppers...they came with carrots, peas and watery mash! I spoke to the restaurant manager, he just nodded when I explained my disappointment and agreed with everything I said. In response he said he would 'look after us' the next evening. Unfortunately this simply meant asking us if we liked the food every ten minutes. The starters are reasonable, but the mains are kept hot under metal covers and clearly stacked up in quantitiy to keep warm, resulting in tasteless overcooked food. However the meat was pre-sliced and sauces etc were clearly added after. In short the food at dinner was awful for any country, but for Italy where we have spent many months over the years, it was unforgiveable! It really felt as if this was an opportunity to fleece the guests. We changed to using the roof terrace restaurant and eating at lunchtime. The food was much better and cooked to order. We asked another couple waht they thought of the food and they said...'well so long as I don't have to cook we are happy.' That sums it up for me! If you want well cooked Italian food, avoid the Bristol. I am struggling to understand why people rate the Hotel so highly unless the quality of food has changed recently. If you have already booked I would recommend you eat at lunchtime! The town has many reasonable restaurants and the town is best at night with some roads closed to traffic.
In general we were also disappointed with Sorrento...it's generally modern and full of traffic...access to the sea front is very limited due to the cliff top position.
