I just read through a few other reviews of the Hotel Bristol and am glad to see that there is a rare level of unanimity amongst Trip Advisor reviewers - it is not just me - year on year (for me, now, 13 years) the Hotel Bristol gives consistent, excellent friendly service and provides memorable holiday experiences - for all the right reasons. I have been fortunate to travel widely in Europe and America, so have much with which to compare the Bristol. It is not a 5 star+ Hotel or a business hotel. But it is a superb, Italian holiday hotel. I have stayed in most of their room types over the years. They are all nice in my experience - but it is well worth paying for the best room you can afford as their best rooms are just lovely. The Hotel has what must be one of the best views in the world, best viewed from the bar terrace with a glass of Prosecco!

One reviewer commented on the noise from passing traffic in the lower level rooms. OK, it is on a busy road, but it is situated just on the edge of town (easy walking distance) and it is a lot less noisy than in the town! Sorrento has the buzz and vibrancy of most Italian seaside towns. But what Sorrento has (as well as the views) are some of the friendliest locals you will ever meet.

And that is where the Bristol does rank 5 star + - its staff. They are, without exception, friendly, efficient and cannot do too much for you, so that you enjoy your stay. I am not going to name any individual, they are all wonderful and it would be unfair on any I failed to mention. There is also very little staff turnover year on year - a good sign in a hotel - to the extent that walking in the door on arrival is like arriving home amongst friends.

Do I recommend it? Most definitely = YES.

We have just come back from staying at the Hotel Bristol and what a wonderful experience. The hotel staff are outstanding in the way they are attentive without being intrusive, courteous and respectful. A genuine team working together. They made our holiday relaxing and enjoyable. We stayed on the first floor (169) and the noise level was not as bad as some people have made out. Our room was cleaned, bed made every day and changed along with the towels too. It is on the road out of town (10 minutes to the centre) with exceptional views over the bay of Naples with Vesuvius as our focal point. Dining was 1st class with the MD Matteo and the team delivering professional and humorous service. You were offered about 5 choices for each course daily plus a further selection if there was nothing you fancied on the day. Where else would you get this? We will be back again next year for sure. Book your trips before you go as it is slightly cheaper and definitely do Pompeii and Herculaneum as are both outstanding places of interest. We also went out to Monte Casino which was an emotional place to see, again with fantastic views. Vesuvius, at 37 degrees, was a challenge walking up to the crater but this can be done in 20 minutes and worth every step. 1st visit and definitely not our last visit to Sorrento. There is a Spa but the cost of 10€ per person for the Jacuzzi is way too expensive.

Room Tip: 1st floor offers good views with a little road noise but some do not have balconies , we were lucky...

We have just returned from the Hotel Bristol, we booked through Citalia and had a great time.
As it was part of a wedding package on arrival we had Presecco on ice and a lovely gift of italian watercolour prints on our bed. The room was on the 9th floor so had amazing views over ths coast.
Our room was clean and modern with flat screen telly and new bathroom.
We were half board, the evening meals we ok, the breakfast wasnt that great- option of eggs which were hit'n miss with tough bread, frankfurt type sausages ect. And continental. Drinks were very expensive compared to the hotel we stayed Rome days later. Pool was clean and quiet thou not many sun beds. I would say its good for the seniors (seems to atract them) coming from a couple in late 20's. (had knock on door to turn telly down at 10:30pm one night when on vol 11. Lol)

Room Tip: Go for 8 or 9th floor for best views

It you are looking for a quiet and peaceful holiday this is not for you as the hotel is situated on the outskirts of Sorrento and on the westerly main road out of the town. As a result it is quite noisy from the traffic passing by and to sit on the balcony is not ideal unless you are in a room above the 4th Floor. Having said that, my wife and I had a truly wonderful time at the hotel. The staff, whatever their role, were superb. The hotel is about SERVICE with a capital "S". Nothing is too much trouble. On top of that the food is wonderful whether it is in the main restaurant or in one of the other two places to eat. We stayed from the 2 September until the 13th on Half Board and were in Room 404. This is a larger room catering for a third person on a settee type bed. We simply cannot recommend this hotel enough except to say that we gave it 10 out of 10 for everything and to say "thank you" to the staff for making our stay really great.

We have just returned from an amazing week at Hotel Bristol ,Sorrento.

We stayed in Villa Bianca which is a separate suite from the hotel with its own terrace with hot tub
The suite was beautifully furnished with a gorgeous white four poster and lovely complimentary furniture.I must also add that the huge shower was awesome.

The staff at the hotel couldn't do enough for you and always had a smile on their faces.
Infact we had the same treatment throughout sorrento and the surrounding areas.

I cannot recommend this hotel enough !

Room Tip: Villa Bianca is worth the extra! Hiring a scooter is a great way to get around!

This was our second time at the Bristol and we enjoyed it enormously once again. It has stunning views of the Bay of Naples and the Bay of Sorrento, is very convenient to town, has very friendly staff and is spotlessly clean. Ercole, Antonio and the other members of the team at reception are very friendly and most helpful. We eat here one night and the food was excellent though you are spoiled for choice with so many great restaurants within walking distance. It is one of our all-time favourites and we will be back some day-hopefully soon.

Room Tip: Just ask for a balcony-the view is fantastic. But beware-taxis are extremely expensive in Sorrento

Our room was on the fifth floor with a large balcony. There were stunning views over the bay of Sorrento and to Naples and Vesuvius. We spent a lot of time there just chilling. The rooftop bar and lounge area as well as the pool all had stunning views. The pool especially was spotlessly clean and unlike many hotels, sunbeds were plentiful. Yes drinks were pricey but they always are in hotels we have found. Service in the restaurant was excellent and the food wonderful. I can't understand why anyone would think anything different. All in all a great hotel with one of the best positions in Sorrento. Yes I agree it's a little pricey but no complaints from us meant it was worth it.
