Had a fantastic week at this hotel. Beautiful room and excellent staff. We were on a bed and breakfast deal and the food at breakfast was good. The hotel was a short walk from the centre on a slight incline.

Room Tip: We were in Room 912 at the top of the building excellent room with brilliant views

We had a lovely holiday to celebrate our 40th Anniversary. The Hotel exceeded our expectation with such lovely views and wonderful varied menu's. Room cleaned and bedding changed every day. We stayed in room 609 our only moan was the shower room a little small. We enjoyed the 5 min walk to the town but if elderly about 10mins.Loved the staff at this hotel all very friendly and they are a good team (Well Done). Would highly recommend this hotel.
Many thanks to all

Room Tip: definitely level 6 as this hotel on a busy road to reduce noise and take in the views

We have just returned from this wonderful hotel. We stayed in room 621, which is a junior suite and was huge. We found the staff to be friendly and warm. We stayed half board and the menu had varied options and was delicious. There is a little walk into the town, it took us about 5 mins , but we are in our 40's. Older clients would be a little longer. The evening entertainment could be improved, it was a little dated. Although many of the guests were older than ourselves and seemed content with the entertainment. Overall we found this hotel surpassed our expectations and we would highly recommend it.

We stayed at the Hotel Bristol for 4 nights, while enjoying Sorrento and day visits to Positano, Amalfi, and Ravello. We booked a very stylish bright roomy jr. suite 647 with deck and spectacular views of Sorrento, the Bay of Naples, and Mt. Vesuvius. The deck was furnished with table, chairs, lounges, electric awning, and a great jacuzzi tub. We loved waking up every morning to the ever changing mountain and bay scenery and ending each day on the deck as the city lights came on. We live in San Francisco and enjoy great views there but we were blown away by the views from this hotel.

The Bristol is located on side of the cliff on the Via Capo at the western end of Sorrento above the Grand Marina, hence the spectacular views. It is a 10 minute walk into town, and a 20 minute walk from the train station. Local bus service stop is right in front of the hotel.

Breakfast and dinner in the dining room was always delicious and first rate with staff being extremely attentive and courteous.

During our stay I had a great deal of difficulty making an online reservation on Trenitalia for our return trip to Rome and asked at the desk to recommend a travel agent. Silvano at the desk kindly offered to help and generously sat with me at the computer for over 20 minutes to get me through the reservation. I was so relieved and grateful. Silvano also gave us excellent and helpful advice on our day trips to the Amalfi coast. I can't say enough about his exceptional professionalism and help.

We will always remember this unique experience fondly and would definitely return to the Hotel Bristol on future trips.

Room Tip: Jr. Suite 647 is directly below the bar and we enjoyed listening to the live piano music in the even...

What a great hotel, we stayed there from the 5th October till 9th October, we stayed in room 618 on the 7th floor which was perfect for the restaurant and the bar as they are on the 7th floor,,, also the views from this room are out of this world .... when you come out the hotel you turn right for about a 10min walk to the centre of Sorrento, in the centre there are lots of shops and bars, you will be looking at paying about 12euro for 2 vodka & cola which was the cheapest that I found in my time there, also 50euro for 200 cigarettes, there is a shop in town called The corner shop where you can get a Lt of vodka for 10euro, a meal for 2 is between 40-60 euro. Sorrento is a great place but not cheap, but the views from the hotel Bristol are so great its worth the visit..

Room Tip: we stayed in room 618 which was a sea-view room with a balcony this room was out this world and the...

I stayed at the Hotel Bristol in early September and was really impressed with many elements of the hotel. The room was clean and decorated to a high standard, with a balcony overlooking the old port. There were numerous lounge areas dotted through the hotel including one on the 8th floor, with views across the bay. The pool, which was located on the top of the hotel was well sized, although the loungers were not the most comfy. The gym had all the essentials, although it could have benefited from air conditioning. However, the only way we could book was half board - i.e. we could not get a bed and breakfast option, this brings me to the food.

On the first night, we arrived at the 7th floor dining room, with stunning panoramic views of the bay, looking forward to a nice meal. The menu quickly dampened expectations, with four to five options offered for most courses, but only one or at most two which could be called Italian. The others were such rarefied Italian delicacies as duck breast, potato and veg. In and of itself this would just be disappointing if the food were well cooked, but it is appalling. I have never before had pasta which manages to achieve the rare state of being simultaneous under and overcooked, unfortunately this was the best thing i ate in the hotel, and after night gave up and paid to eat out. I have eaten better food in a motorway service station.

We stayed here for 11 nights at the end of September. The hotel is positioned to the south of Sorrento on the road to the Cape, and it is thus a little out of the historic town centre, but this has a major compensation - the views are spectacular.

We booked a junior suite and were given room 621 which we would recommend to anyone - it has recently been remodelled from two rooms and has a long balcony with nice relaxers and the most fantastic view across Sorrento town below, to Vesuvius opposite and the whole of the Bay of Naples. The room was large, all in white with black furnishings. It was comfortably furnished, and had free wifi (rather slow though) and a kettle with tea and coffee stuff. The bathroom was very modern, again in white and black, and everything was well installed and worked! We had no problem with noise from the road far below our room.

We were on a bed and breakfast basis so that we could take advantage of the many good restaurants in Sorrento. Breakfast was fine with a varied buffet, and they serve eggs to your choice with bacon or sausage, but on a small tea plate which was a bit odd. We ate a la carte a couple of evenings and the standard of food was very good, although the menu was perhaps a little limited and unadventurous?

All the staff were friendly, spoke good English and were helpful - especially the staff at the front desk who were more than willing to advise on trips and the intricacies of the ticket system for trains and boats. They will book trips for you if you wish and for us organised taxis to and from the airport and a driver to take us on the Amalfi coast tour - there is no way to do this in 4 hours as suggested, so expect to pay at least for 7 or 8 hours (euros 33 per hour). We did all our other trips ourselves, but be prepared for strikes on the railway or for ships to be cancelled if the weather is slightly bad:) - ask reception to check before heading out.

One word of caution: because the hotel is a bit out of town, it is a 15 minute walk along a busy road with some narrow pavements to get to the centre of the old town. Allow 25 minutes to get to the port for the boats and to the station for Pompei etc. Coming back it is a little uphill, and if you are getting on a bit like we are, it can feel like hard going after a day out walking the streets of Capri or Pompei! If you are not fit before you go to Sorrento, you will be by the time you leave!

We spent 1 morning at the pool in the garden above the hotel. The views are again fantastic, but the pool area is rather restricted with a rope all the way round to ensure you can only enter via the cold shower and footbath, and there is a list of things you should not do. We would have preferred a more relaxed approach. They do provide towels, but only one per person per day - extra charge if you want another. There is also a large relaxing area on the roof of the hotel where you can easily spend a day just enjoying the view.

Room Tip: Our room 621 has to be one of the best if you can afford a suite. Any other room - ask for it to be...
