It is now some time since my wife and I visited Hotel Bristol, but we still talk about the wonderful experiences we shared on the occasion of our visit.
After a 2 hour coach transfer from Naples, arrival at the hotel was very welcome, and our greeting from the English speaking reception staff was exactly as we had read on 'tripadvisor' - welcoming, smiling, polite, and very willing to please/recommend.
We were shown to our 6th floor room, with a balcony overlooking the beautiful Bay of Naples, and Mount Vesuvius in the background. What a sight for sore eyes?
The room and en-suite was perfectly furnished, spotlessly clean, and with all amenities provided.
We had an early evening (somewhat delayed) arrival at the hotel, and so, after a quick 'freshen' we made our haste to the restaurant for dinner. We were greeted by the head waiter (who we subsequently learned was Matteo), who was awaiting us, him already being aware of our delay. Very impressive.
The food throughout our stay was superb, with emphasis on both European and Italian dishes, in the restaurant overlooking Sorrento and beyond. We were fortunate in that we were invariably offered a 'window' table for both breakfast and dinner during our stay.
Relaxing at Bristol Hotel was never a problem. A gorgeous pool in a sun-trap surrounded by loungers, and towels provided. In addition, there are facilities to purchase food and drink in the pool bar nearby, and perhaps, at the same time, purchase a commemorative plate - to remind you of your wonderful holiday. Not far away is a lovely garden area where one can just wander aimlessly, or sit in either sun or shade, enjoying the totally relaxing ambiance.
However, if you really must exert yourself, you may try table tennis, crazy golf, a fabulously equipped gym (heaven forbid!!), sauna and/or jacuzzi.
For pure, unadulterated luxury, though, hire the hotel's boat and enjoy the Amalfi coastline whilst acquiring a suntan.
Evening entertainment is provided in the Marina Bar, usually of the musical variety, but very enjoyable whilst sipping a delicious cocktail.
Finally, the hotel is situated within walking distance of the centre of Sorrento, an easy walk down the slight hill, and a gentle rise return, after sampling the many eclectic delights of this extremely desirable holiday destination.
As you may have gathered, our stay at Bristol Hotel in Sorrento was a fantastic experience and one that I would be very happy to recommend to anyone thinking of visiting Sorrento.
