“A room with a view”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

A lovely hotel in a great location just 10 minutes walk from the centre of Sorrento. The views are stunning. Our room was a good size, spotlessly clean and well appointed with very comfortable beds. The staff were excellent, very helpful, efficient and courteous. The food was generally good although a couple of nights were not as good as the others for choice. The dining rooms have fantastic views as well. The swimming pool is located above the hotel and has magnificent views over the bay to Vesuvius. It is a really good size pool with lots of sunbeds for the guests. The adjacent pool bar provides everything you would expect and will deliver to you as you relax by the pool (as will the snack restaurant. From the pool level you can get to the hotel gardens which are delightful although a little hilly.

I had a few gripes however
1. tea and coffee in the room was free on the first day but after that you were expected to by 10 teabags for a euro.
2. a swimming towel was provided for each person each day but if you wanted to swim twice a day you were expected to pay a euro for a second towel.
(the above seems penny pinching and is not acceptable for a hotel of this quality - it would be better to add a few euros to the room price)
3. The cocktail bar prices were very expensive and the cocktails seemed light on alcohol in some cases.

Nevertheless we had a lovely stay and I would recommend this hotel to others and we may well return one day.

Room Tip: Spend the extra to get a room with a balcony, the higher up the quieter it will be. We were on the...

Quite simply one of the best hotels I have stayed at. The location is absolutely fantastic with views across the bay and to Versuvius. The staff are so helpful [special mention to the maitre'd and restaurant staff] and the food is abslutely superb. The views from the roof area and pool are amazing. We were a 4 - 2 couples and none of us had any complaints - even minor ones. No surprise that many of the people we talked to were regulars at the hotel which says a lot.
Visited Pompei by train which was easy and relatively inexpensive and Capri by ferry. Sorrento is great for a walk round [have a coffee/food in the main square and watch the world go by]
All in all an unforgettable holiday. Would I stay here again - absolutely!

Room Tip: Try to get one with a balcony - makes all the difference ;-)

Many of the previous reviews only repeat our experience. This is a great hotel with wonderful service, staff and scenery. It's not a modern hotel and has an old fashioned quirky charm. The pool is great but very deep and possibly off putting for non swimmers. Realistically the hotel is a good 10 min walk to the start of the town itself but 20 mins to get to the square Piazza Tasso and a bit further to the harbour and marina. It is on a hill but it's not a steep hill and easily walkable even for couch potatoes like us. The main problem is the pavement, which is very narrow and puts you in close proximity with the mad Italian drivers. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to enjoy the local area. It's not suitable for anyone looking for a lively nightlife.

On our first visit to Sorrento our family stayed 6 nights at the Bristol, and we will return to both as soon as we can! The hotel is perfect: nothing is too much trouble for the welcoming and courteous reception and restaurant staff; the views of Sorrento, Mount Vesuvius and the bay of Naples are astonishing from all parts of hotel; the public areas are varied and beautiful, the pool is perfectly situated. We were lucky enough to experience both the Villa Bianca suites and also Rooms 602 and 603. The suites are more modern and luxurious: secluded in a lovely, fragrant garden which is beautifully maintained, they are very spacious and extremely comfortable. The terraces of the Villa Bianca suites are surprisingly large with lovely furniture and fabulous views of the bay of Naples. The suites are well worth the extra cost. Rooms 602 and 603 were perfect for our family: our boys (17 and 14) shared room 602; room 603 has an extra twin bedroom which gave our little girl (8) privacy and a sense of being grown up. The rooms inter-connected via small balconies which was ideal for us. Rooms, restaurants and public areas are perfectly clean. The food is plain, plentiful and varied. Food and service were both high quality and consistent in all meals in the three restaurants and three bars. Although we had not booked half board we were not tempted to take our meals outside the hotel. A couple of touches we thought are impressive: the visitors books for many years past are kept in the reception area, and the comments of past guests are uniformly complimentary and positive. Finally, we had to change our accommodation at short notice, and the approach of the reception staff to our request was exceptionally quick and helpful. This hotel, it's location, amenities and staff, we're perfect for us.

I wish I could post pictures to show everyone our experience, but nonetheless, food was great, service was impeccable, and the view was amazing! I would rate our stay as one of the best we had of all the places we stayed in Italia. The staff were very proactive to accommodate our needs as well as providing necessary information to navigate our time within the city of Sorrento. We stayed in a junior suite with an outdoor jacuzzi.....unbelievable!! The views were...well...I can't begin to describe the beauty of the Amalfi coast and the view from our room. Plus the sunset was breathtaking!

What a gem. Nothing could have been bettered during our all to brief stay at the Hotel Bristol.
The view from our balcony was out of this world with dramatic scenes overlooking Harbour Grande and the spectacular Mount Vesuvius. The vista just goes on with stunning views of Sorrento, the Milky Mountains and out across The Bay Of Naples,
All the staff work so hard to make this hotel stand out.
If you're looking for good food, fine wines and a terrific atmosphere then this is the place to head for. A short walk (10-15 mins) gets you into the heart of Old Town Sorrento. The Bristol was recommended to us by friends, it more than exceeded our expectations.

Room Tip: Higher floor, (ours was on the fifth) rooms are quieter here as the main road is in front of the hot...

After much research we decided on this hotel based on the fabulous reviews. We chose well!
The hotel is incredible, amazing staff and attention to detail, excellent food (which changes daily) and service in the restaurants. Matteo & Sergio run the restaurants like clockwork with all of their team providing an excellent service. We swapped an evening meal for lunch once and had a lovely meal in the terrace restaurant below the pool, and one day we opted for a packed lunch, which was lovely and could have fed 4 people!
The room was amazing, beautiful tiled floors with stunning views of Vesuvius and Sorrento from the balcony. It was spotlessly clean, fresh towels daily and a turn down service at night which confused me on the first night!
All areas of the hotel are stunning. Beautiful bar with amazing views over the town, which is only a 10 minute walk away. 15-20 minutes easy walk to the bus/train station, and to the port, which made getting to Herculaneum and Capri very easy.
Plenty of areas to sit by the pool or lower terrace if you like more shade.
Reception staff were exceptional, always bright and cheery and very helpful with any requests.
Only slight gripe is the bars prices, wine was fine at 5 euros for a large glass but spirits with a mixer at 9 euros was a bit steep.
Overall, an excellent hotel which made our honeymoon all we hoped for and more. I'm sure we'll return...
