“Perfect home base!”
Reviewed 30 March 2010

We stayed at the Bristol 2 nights before flying out of Naples. The hotel not only arranged a Smart car for us to cruise on over to Pompeii for the day, but they drove us down to get it and took car of it when we got back- we just handed over the keys. The staff wants you to ask what will make your stay enjoyable, either in town recommendations or services they can provide. They are so accommodating and it was the perfect end to our 2 week travels through Italy. We'll definitely be back. We stayed in a corner room and took advantage of the metal doors that electrically closed and slept in both mornings, but woke up in time for breakfast. The first morning, coffee was a bit weak for us, but day two we got cappuccinos and enjoyed the sun rising over the city. The upstairs open-air seating area begs one to just sit back and take a drink up there and stare at the water. The hotel is situated off a relatively busy road, but all rooms, no matter your locale, have a view of the Bay. We stayed on the 5th floor, corner room (510), which was perfect, though about 11pm at night, we heard them preparing for the next morning's breakfast. One call downstairs and all movement ceased and we slept soundly. This is what I mean by the staff- you felt they were generally sorry to see you go.
We will certainly stay here again- it is not directly in the thick of the bustle of Sorrento, but is instead up a hill over-looking the water. When you sit down on your balcony, you don't see roads and buildings that have a nice view, you have the nice view. Again, I would say that the road itself is popular and you can't hide the scooter sounds that define Italy, but other hotels I saw sat higher in the hillside, a little further back. For the price, this place is great and having dinner one night there is a MUST. The chef is great- we had the sole cooked in white wine and butter and the filet mignon. YUM!

My husband and I just spent 6 days at the Hotel Bristol in Sorrento and we loved it! The setting is perfect and the staff is wonderful! The hotel offers a swimming pool, mini golf, a small gym as well as the usual spacious lobby and lounge area. The hotel is on the side of the hill and the rooms overlook the Bay of Naples. Directly below is a small fishing community and then beyond a stand of trees one can watch the arrival and departure of the ferries and hydrofoils that serve as links to Naples and Capri. The city of Sorrento is just to the right, far enough away that the traffic noise is muted but only a short 5 minute walk. The rooms have lovely tiled floors and headboards are made of inlaid wood. They are comfortably furnished and many have decks. The best feature however is the staff. Salvatore at reception greets one warmly and has excellent advice and information which he is eager to share. The restaurant, which features outstanding dinners, is run efficiently and charmingly by Matteo, the maitre d'. We ate every dinner but one there and each time were greeted by an enthusiastic "buona sera"! We heartily recommend this hotel and cannot wait to return ourselves! When you go, tell Matteo and Salvatore hello from Jon and Beth from Seattle!

My group of Wesley College students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of the college loved staying at Hotel Bristol. The location is incredible with fantastic views of the Bay of Naples, Naples, and Mt. Vesuvius. The staff could not have been friendlier and more helpful. Both the restaurant and bar have lovely views and the food was delicious. The location is excellent for access to the town center of Sorrento and to the Amalfi Coast. We also traveled to Pompeii, Herculaneum, Naples, and Paestum from the hotel. The hotel was one of the highlights of the trip. We hope to stay at Hotel Bristol every time we travel to the region.

This hotel has it all--beautiful view, comfy rooms, nice bathrooms with large tubs & rain showers, and best of all, GREAT service. We were there for several days with a large group. The gentlemen who worked the front desk were helpful & friendly. The Dining Room service was attentive & the food was delicious. This is a great place for American travelers to stay. It's also within walking distance of the Town center.

This family-run, traditional yet modern hotel is set above the sea and just outside of Sorrento town centre but within easy walking distance - rooms, spacious bar and restaurant all have a superb view back over the whole of Sorrento and of the Bay towards Mount Vesuvius which is hard to beat. The staff were extremely friendly and professional, many of whom have been with the hotel for years and guests are made to feel extremely welcome and nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are very bright and comfortable and extremely clean, and the food was great although the breakfast buffet not extensive - that may be because we travelled out of season. The steep climb by narrow road to the car park on the roof takes some getting used to (as does driving in general in this area) but at least there is no charge. I can't fault the hotel, its excellent staff or its stunning location at all - it was refreshing to return to somewhere slightly away from the busy town centre, yet the action and train station are accessible if you wish.

This is the place to stay in Sorrento. The views are fantastic. It's a beautiful place, but very comfortable. The beds are great, the tiled baths were so pretty, as well as the inlaid headboards. The staff is very friendly, there is always a smile to greet you. Only a short walk into town. We loved everything about this place

We stayed in the Hotel Bristol in Sorrento for a week, using it is a base to visit Capri, Pompeii, Herculaneum and the Amalfi coast

Sorrento is a stunning place in its own right but the Hotel Bristol certainly added to our enjoyment. Overlooking the city, it has absolutely outstanding views of Sorrento, Mount Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples and easy access to Sorrento, being only five minutes’ walk from the main square.

Built at the top of the mountain, the swimming pool actually overlooks the hotel. Breakfast and dinner are served in the main restaurant but lunch is served in the terrace restaurant and so has the most stunning views. We were half board, but mostly opted to take lunch instead of dinner so that we could enjoy the view through the day. We can recommend the seafood restaurants in the finishing village in the tiny bay beneath the hotel, from where you can then walk into Sorrento along the beautiful castle walk. There are also some excellent restaurants around the main square.

Not necessarily for everyone, this is a classic Grand Hotel which is very well maintained and renovated with many of the staff having worked there for many years. It has an authentic “Olde-Italian” feel about it, with most of the staff having immaculate coiffures and matching suits. There’s an opera singer to entertain you over dinner on a Thursday!

The food was usually excellent; the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our air-conditioned room was fabulously situated and clean, although apparently no two rooms are alike so make sure you get a bay view!
