“Just Perfect!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 August 2010

We stayed at the Hotel Bristol for our Honeymoon, and it could not have been better. Our suite on the 9th floor, complete with rooftop Jacuzzi, had the most stunning panoramic views of Sorrento and Mount Vesuvius - both by day and at night.
The facilities were excellent, with the most amazing and huge outdoor pool surrounded by beach chairs and a bar, and overlooking the mountains. The interior was stunning, and the food sublime.
What sets the hotel apart though is the staff. The hardest working, friendliest, and most hospitable people I've ever come across - and they all spoke great English too!!
Nothing was too much bother, they went above and beyond to make sure we had what ever we wanted or needed, and more amazingly, (especially considering the size of the hotel), by day 3 of our 14 night stay they had memorised our room and names so that ordering anything was an absolute breeze. And by they, I mean ALL the staff we dealt with, not just one or two!! A great personal touch which emphasised the amazing service.
In short, I'd recommend Sorrento, and in particular Hotel Bristol to anyone looking for a perfect honeymoon destination.
We will be back!!

Have just retuned from a week long stay at The Bristol. We stayed on the 6th floor which meant we had fabulous views over the bay. The room was spotless, had a massive comfy bed, and super efficient air conditioning... we needed to use the blankets at night.
The staff are all extremely helpful, the breakfast is great, the pool area is gorgeous.... I really couldn't find fault with anything.
The hotel is in a great location and the station and sea ports are in walking distance, great for trips to Capri, Poitano, Amalfi and Pompii. We found the public transport to be cheap, although taxis are fairly expensive. We highly recommend going down to Marina Grande for great restaurants and bars which seem to be where all the locals go to eat.

Just back from a relaxing break at the Bristol Hotel. Had a lovely room on the sixth floor. The room itself was not particularly big but the balcony made up for it. There was enough room for a table and chairs and two sun loungers. Although the views from the balcony were amazing the balconies themselves are not very private. There is a small gate separating each one. You would not have much privacy if your neighbours were also out on their balcony. Surprisingly this was not an issue when we were there so we took advantage of the space. The breakfasts were lovely. Good selection that is regularly replenished. Eggs etc cooked to order. The dinner menu is ok but portions may be quite small for the more hearty appetite. All the pasta options were delicious as was the ice cream,. Location is perfect. A pleasant ten minute walk to the centre of the town . About 20 mins to train and bus station for Pompeii, Amalfi etc.
Great hotel with very helpful staff.

This hotel was just gorgeous. The pool and outdoor patio areas with the views were stunning. There were so many sitting rooms with couches, etc. Our room had a balcony that faced the port and the bay. Just sitting on the balcony made me realize how fortunate I was to be able to see this view. The room was large and nice and the bathroom was small. Getting to the room was a little difficult - very confusing. But the views made up for this. The breakfast buffet was great. It is about a 10-15 minute walk down the hill to the main center of Sorrento, but the walk was pleasant - even uphill was not bad, if you are in fairly good condition. The train station to Pompeii and Naples, the bus to Positano, and the boat to Isle of Capri were all in walking distance of the hotel. With luggage, we took a cab to the train station. Sorrento has become my favorite city - along with Cape Town, S. Africa. I would definitely stay at this hotel next time.

This was my second and my new husband's trip to Sorrento. It was our first stay in this hotel which I and many other English guests had slected having read the trip advisor reviews. As stated in the reviews many people we talked to came back year after year and as a very fussy honeymooner I can understand why. Excellent location, quiet despite road - don't let it put you off- the views are to die for, rooms immaculate, very good soundproofing, quiet clientele and wonderful service. We were half board, varied menu, terrific breakfast and the pool was lovely too. Only tiny criticism would be early morning cleaning of neigbouring rooms from 8am onwards. We would definitely go back and you should go as soon as possible.

Having picked the busiest time of the whole year to visit Sorrento, due to the public holiday on the 15th August, we arrived after a very long 2 hour journey (would normally be 1 hour ) by taxi from Naples lovely (!!!) train station to be greeted most warmly by the reception staff. We were booked in for 7 nights half board and as this was our first trip to Sorrento, were unsure what to expect. Our rooms (we had two adjoining rooms with balconies) were on the 5th floor with stunning views over the Bay of Naples and looking out to Vesuvius. Both rooms were spotlessly clean with tiled floors and very comfy 6ft beds and very nice sized balconies with chairs, tables and loungers on them. The air conditioning was fantastic, so much so, that we had to use the extra blankets provided at night. This hotel was a bit like stepping back in time to an era when manners were a thing to be proud of. The staff were absolutely fabulous, they could not do enough for you. The dining room was magical. Overlooking the Bay, it was run by Matteo and Pasquale with such exacting precision, but with style, grace and an enormous amount of warmth towards everyone, but it was all done with such little effort that you got caught up in the moment. The food, although not the conventional type that you would eat at home everyday, was cooked beautifully - even for my fussy 13 year old son - who was very proud that he was so adventurous. Long trousers must be worn in the evening and this in itself adds a certain charm. The breakfasts could not be faulted, with a large selection of fruits, cereals, hams, cheeses and breads and then hot (eggs, bacon and sausage) cooked to order. The hotel was a maze of stairs and lifts leading up to the terrace area and pool (only open until 6pm). Again the views were spectacular and it was so relaxing looking down watching all the boats and ferries to-ing and fro-ing. The pool, although not always the warmest (hence the closing at 6pm, as no sun on it after this time) always had a space to put down your towel (provided free by hotel). After a hard day's sight seeing, to go to the bar for a pre-dinner drink was a welcome relief. With assistance from Gian Paulo (the barman) it provided a haven to unwind and try out your Italian, which was always appreciated. The reception staff were always very willing to assistant in any way they could and were quick to advise when required to. The walk into the town was not too strenuous, a sloping road which took about 15 minutes to the centre of town and train station. This cannot however be said for the trek to the marina and beaches, which involved 188 steps down from the town, although it could be walked via a sloping road and the buses and taxis did go right down to the bottom from the town. Sorrento itself is a very central base for sightseeing. It is the first time ever that we have not hired a car and solely relied on public transport to get around. Vesuvius, Pompei , the Islands and the Amalfi coast are all readily accessible by train, bus or boat.
Although this hotel was predominantly occupied by the British, it did not detract from the fact that we were definitely in Italy, with beautiful views, beautiful people and all set around a beautiful hotel. Would I recommend staying here? Absolutely.

This hotel has some of the best views you can get, the food is awsome (if you like seafood) the staff are all local as far as we found out and incredaibly helpful. We went on our honeymoon there and could not have chosen a better Hotel in Sorrento.
Even the locals know this hotel is good as we found out in the Irish bar opposite the Museum where they congratulated us on our choice.
