First impressions are not particularly favourable, 3 locked security gates and lots of unswept steps before you get to the apartment give the impression of South Africa or an open prison. You dont get a view either BUT it is a reasonable apartment in a quiet location and very convenient for local shops, the town centre and public transport, all of which are easily within walking distance.
The town itself is quite hectic, and very touristy, Apartment Orange and its little patio do make for a bit of a sanctuary you can retreat to in a nice little corner of Old Sorrento with "proper" shops and a couple of small supermarkets. Michele's pizzeria is 100m away and brilliant (delicious and cheap)- highly recommended.
Couple of other irritating "quirks", there isnt a kettle, probably due to the staggering amounts of limescale evident every time you boil the water and the owners expect you to put the bins out and clean the place despite charging a cleaning fee and not providing cleaning products (none of which we were told).
If you want to stay in Sorrento itself it is well worth considering. Dont be fooled into thinking Piano di Sorrento, Meta, S.Agnello or S.Aguta are parts of Sorrento- they aren't and you may wish you had rented elsewhere. Given the other choices available at the time we were glad we stayed here.
