We enjoyed our stay at the Aminta Hotel. I is situated high above Sorrento with lovely view of Naples Bay and Vesuvius. We could not fault the hotel. The staff is very polite and extremely helpful. During our stay it was my birthday and the hotel kitchen made a delicious cake which I shared with the friend we made at the hotel. We highly recommend it.

Very beautiful hotel with reliable hourly shuttle to town centre of Sorrento taking only 5 minutes to get there or you can walk in about 20 minutes if you wish that allows you to take in the views. The hotel really does have exceptionally beautiful and expansive views across the bay of naples with vesuvius thrown in and a lovely sunset. Honestly could'nt fault the staff simply superb and just so unobtrusively attentive and discreet unbelieveable!!!!.Stayed half board and so pleased we did, Breakfast fresh and varied and so much to choose from you could never be dissapointed every thing was available and evening meal served from 7.00pm to 9.00pm was outstanding providing a good choice from the menu. Lovely fresh room cleaned to the highest standards and no disturbances from other guests on an evening. 2 gala evenings provided with entertainment. We attended quite a few trips organised with precision through the thompson rep Sarah who was so great and knowledgable which provided us with the opportunity to see Capri Pompeii Positano Revello Herculaenum archilogocal museums boat trips and other sights. We certainly would'nt have had the time to organise and navigate the trips independantly ourselves which we later discovered locally would have cost more any way. Won't hesitate to go back.

Room Tip: Air con can be manually adjusted and it works- rooms have bar fridge. We booked our holiday only 6 w...

I agree with most reviews, the hotel staff are really friendly and helpful, it is a good location away from the busy centre with a relaxed and luxury feel. The food varied a lot during the 3 nights we ate there, we had a la carte which was better some days than others. The set menu's seemed ok, we were with friends that had this choice, but would have been too much food for me, there are quite a few courses and the one occasion we had it (at euro 30) it was really terrible, but we were late arriving and this could have been why. The house wine is OK and the previous reviewer absolutely right, there is a big gap between the house wine at 18 euro and anything else, we paid 30 for a better wine, but there is little in-between and this should be addressed.
We were in the annex, which we liked. Ground floor rooms were nicely furnished and the bathroom fine, what makes these rooms are the lovely balcony with views over the lemons groves and gardens towards the coast, it was a sheltered spot which I loved for an hours rest after a busy day, the lemon flowers wafting deliciously all around, it felt more like a villa than hotel. It is a working garden, and we did here mowing on occasion but perfectly acceptable. We were disturbed on a couple of occasions by inconsiderate guests thumping their way up the external stairs and banging doors, but this you can find anywhere there are stone/marble floors.
The walk to and from the main building was very pretty, through a gate at the end of the pool area. Cases are brought to and from your room with no problem. We did have a little rain and you could get wet walking to and from the main building, they do provide umbrellas.
The rooms were very clean and well serviced and you have tea and coffee making facilities in your room, plus x2 tokens (a day) for the excellent coffee machine in the hall. We took fresh milk from the breakfast room for our tea and kept it in the fridge.
The breakfasts were very good, so many pastries, but also any eggs cooked to order any way you like. As previously commented the waiting staff are very good and attentive.
We loved the outside area with relaxing chairs and loungers. The pool was a really good size, still a bit cold 2nd week May, however, I did have a nasty fall at the pool side. At one of the ladders there is a hole, not sure why or what for, but it is right at the exit and I fell into it cutting my knees and toe. I told the reception, suggesting they put a sign or cover over the hole but by the time we left they still had not done anything about it. Quite a few people at the pool side commented at how bad it was and I was disappointed that the staff did not pay more attention to it. Now 2 weeks later I am still in pain from the fall and it will be a while longer before the cut heals. If you have children I suggest you watch out for this one if it has not been covered.
The shuttle bus is very good, on time and defiantly needed! It would be good if there was a return bus at 10.30 instead of 11.30, we had to get a taxi to the hotel as the 11.30 is too late for most people. We had a taxi organised by the hotel to/from Naples airport which was excellent, a very nice driver and the best price we had quoted at euro 85.
All in all this is a very nice hotel in a lovely location with good staff, who make you feel welcome, who work hard and keep smiling! I would be happy to return here for a relaxing time.

This review is WAY overdue.

This hotel was so fabulous we hesitate to write it because we are scared of spoiling it!! We stayed at this hotel for three weeks at the end of August while we were travelling around the Amalfi Coast.

We absolutely loved this hotel, the room was well appointed, the bed was very comfortable, the washroom was very well sized and we loved being in the main building close to breakfast and the lobby. We never had a problem with noise from the other guests or the road.

The staff were absolutely wonderful. They were great with recommendations for restaurants and sites and they always greeted us by name with a friendly smile. My boyfriend badly injured his hand while we were in Sorrento and the hotel staff were amazing. They communicated with our insurance company, as well as the hospital for us. They not only found the nearest hospital for us but also translated for us to ensure he was cared for properly (on a side note, health care for tourists in Sorrento is FABULOUS, it was free and we waited a fraction of the time we would have in Toronto). They regularly checked in with us to see how he was and even warned us that the air line may not let him on the plane with a full cast. We were so grateful for their care and concern and they definitely went above and beyond!

The Food:

We had lunch on the terrace multiple times as well as had dinner at the hotel (The Neapolitan night was a lot of fun and the food was fabulous!) Lunch was yummy and was great for days we wanted to spend our afternoon at the hotel by the pool.

The Hotel/Grounds: We really loved this hotel, it was well maintained and had the most amazing view of the bay of Naples as well as Capri. We could see the sun setting over Capri every night from the terrace as well as our room. It was truly magical!

The Staff:

The staff were Amazing! They were so friendly and accommodating. They made us feel completely welcome and truly like Aminta was our home for the week.

The shuttle: the walk down to town was very quick (about 20 minutes) and was gorgeous as you walked through lemon trees and fig trees and you always have an amazing view of the Bay of Naples and Sorrento. The shuttle could have run more frequently (especially in the evening) as the path back up was steep and there were no lights on the path. At no fault to Aminta some of the guests could often be quite obnoxious about shoving to get onto the shuttle. This could likely be resolved by providing more frequent shuttles.

Location: Being up on the hill is ENTIRELY worth it for the Fantastic view. The hotel is not at all a far walk down to town. There was a bus stop right in front of the hotel and if you asked the driver in advance he would stop in front of the hotel on the way back from Positano, Ravello and Amalifi etc. The shuttle made it easy to get to and from town.

The guests: as our stay was quite long we saw a lot of guests come and go and unfortunately some were quite more rude and obnoxious than others. Thankfully Aminta allows its guests to book pool chairs for a small fee so that you do not have to play the towel game (we really appreciated this and thought the small fee was fair for the peace of mind of having your day planned).

This hotel is truly a gem and i would STRONGLY recommend it! I know that we will be returning the second we get a chance!!!!!

Room Tip: Try not to stay in the annex section.

We stayed two nights at the Aminta. The hotel was clean and very beautiful. We loved the breakfast - there were so much to pick from! The view from the hotel is amazing... It's only 5 minutes by a shuttle bus from the center of Sorrento. Excellent place to stay at!

A really lovely hotel for a quiet, relaxing break. All the staff were very friendly and efficient. Dinner was superb and varied while breakfast was the same every day and fresh fruit would have been appreciated. We would certainly return.

What a great place to stay! The location, the view, the town .... all stunning. Like some of the other reviews we were part of a Riviera tour, and it was a great place to come back to when you finished your day's touring. The sunsets and the views from the bar and patio area of Vesuvius were fantastic. Our room was smaller than we are usd too, the bed harder than we would like, but none of these had any negative effect on our holiday. The view out our window over the town and the Bay of Naples were a great place to sit with a glass of wine or catch up on e-mails. Wifi signal was good and included in the package, which is always nice to have. The menus changed each night, and the food was always good...and you always had plenty. We were never disappointed. The staff always seemed to be friendly and courteous. If I had a choice in the future, we would definitely go back again :-)
