Returned to the Aminta on September 11th for 5 nights. The hotel arranged pickup at the airport in Naples. Immediate checkin upon arrival. Many familiar faces among the staff who welcomed us warmly. Had a room with a balcony with a sea view. The room itself was unchanged from previous visits except for a new flat panel tv. Rooms here are very clean and functional. Maid service as usual was efficient and unobtrusive.
We were happy to see that Luigi continues to manage the pool area. He made sure that we had our favorite spot by the pool reserved for us for every day of our stay.
The restaurant staff welcomed us warmly to the dining room. The food and service if anything has only gotten better over the years that we have been coming to the Aminta.
The location of the Aminta is both a plus and a minus. It is located high up on a hill overlooking Sorrento and the sea below. This makes for great views but is somewhat inconvenient for those looking to spend a lot of time in the town itself. The pick and drop off point for the hotel shuttle has changed from previous years and I'm not sure that it is as convenient. This is not a big issue for us as we have been to Sorrento many times and do not feel the need to go into town that frequently.
The bottom line is that in terms of quality, the efficiency and warmth of the staff, and overall experience it is hard to imagine a better place to stay in Sorrento than the Aminta. My wife's only suggestion for improvement would be for the hotel to open a spa on site.

Room Tip: Balcony with a sea view is worth the extra money.

Nice hotel with outstanding views over Sorrento and beond. Picture window in hotel has a superb view over the bay of Naples to Mount Vesuvius. Some rooms are quite basic and care is needed to not bang your head on the sloping roof line ( dormer window) but the room and all public ares were clean. Service was in the main was good and the waiters in the restaraunt were excellent with a good blend of being friendly but efficient. Food was good value and at the level you would expect in a four star hotel. The hotel would benefit from some updating in certain areas but is was always clean. Staff were helpful and friendly. The hotel is perched up on the hillside outside Sorrento hence the magnificent views. A hotel shuttle bus is available to go into Sorrento and this is free of charge. Delightful outside area where drinks, lunches and bar snacks are served, this area is particularly nice in the evening when the lighting and the views add to the overall effect.

Room Tip: A superior room with a balcony is best as the low roof line will be avoided and also provide a place...

Visited this hotel as part of a Riviera Travel trip to Italy, for a week in September.
Very clean smart hotel. Room cleaned to a high standard and the pool and bar area also clean and smart.
Staff are excellent, friendly, professional and respectful.
Dining room where we took breakfast and evening meals was brilliant. A really good choice for am and pm, served with a flourish by the very smart staff who really knew how to 'serve' meals.
Very well overseen by the manager.
It was my wife's birthday and after a sent an e-mail prior to arrival she was presented by an excellent birthday cake and a bottle of proseco.
The hotel is 3km from the town of Sorrento centre but a prompt bus service is provided for easy access.
I would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: P.ossibly a room with a balcony would be better

Fabulous hotel with amazing views over Sorrento. Evening dining is fantastic, and the food is the best we have eaten in any hotel. An incredibly comprehensive wine list too. The staff are very helpful and friendly and the service is efficient. We liked nothing better than to start the evening with a cocktail at the pool bar - the Aminta Special was my husband's favourite! The hotel is a little out of Sorrento centre but there is a regular shuttle bus service into and out of town, we certainly didn't miss being closer to the town centre. A wonderful place to spend the last week of our honeymoon, and I am sure we will be back for an anniversary visit! A truly relaxing place to stay.

Room Tip: Go for a sea view room with balcony

Really enjoyed stay. No balcony but room fine and roomy and very clean. Staff helpful. A stop for coaches however, so noisy mornings as they went early. Would stay again when in the area. Car required for later evenings in Sorrento.

Airport to Hotel to Airport transfers in a private car arranged by the hotel were on time and comfortable. The Hotel Staff was friendly, courteous, and professional. Excellent daily breakfasts and maid service are included. Lunches and dinners are well worth the cost. Exceptional waiter service is provided for delicious and beautifully plated food. Well groomed grounds included olive trees, lemon trees, an outside dining area and bar, lounge areas, and pools. We had a superior room with a balcony from which sunrise and sunset views of Sorrento and the Gulf of Naples were magnificent. An excellent shuttle service from the hotel into downtown Sorrento provides convenient access to train, bus, and boat transportation.

The hotel is on a hillside overlooking the Gulf of Naples and the town of Sorrento. Day trips to Naples, Capri, Amalfi, Positano, Pompei, and Ravello are easy via mass transit.

Room Tip: Select a room offered with the views you prefer.

Had a fantastic holiday at this Hotel mainly due to all the wonderful trips we went on and the lovely staff at the Hotel who can't be faulted. We were upgraded thankfully to a room with views to Capri and a balcony. I wouldn't have enjoyed this holiday nearly as much had we had a room with just a small window & no balcony. We saw these rooms with guests peering out like prisoners, not appealing! Wonderful at the end of a great sight seeing day to sit on a balcony and watch the most stunning sunset over Capri
So lovely the Hotel being up and out of the main busy town, we walked up and down mostly rather than using & waiting for the busy free shuttle.Great walk down-15mins with stunning views, we struggled in 36 degree heat to get back up at times & it took 30 mins but we did it. Much better than the stressy shuttle q that got a bit hectic when guests pushed in the line- (usually French)
All the staff were so lovely and smiley, the way the restaurant is run is quite something to behold, like clockwork, we had the half board option. The food was very pleasant with about 3-4 options per course. You certainly wouldn't go hungry staying at this hotel. The bar too is very efficient with great staff (milkshakes to die for but VERY expensive)
If you are planning any trips such as to Capri walk down to the Port terminal & buy your own tickets & go over. Thanks to the advice of the receptionist at the Hotel we did. We saved a fortune doing this and you really don't need a guide on Capri, lots of helpful staff in the cafes etc there that will point you in the right direction should you need it. Also Pompei, the train station is so close and the guided tours are very rushed (even the half day), i would recomend doing it on your own.
The room we had was an upgrade, sea view with balcony, couldn't fault the view- breathtaking sunsets. The actual room itself was very basic, bit tired, bathroom very tired-shower grout all black, be day leaked out of the back all over the floor. The air con grill in the room was black and clearly needed a good scrub. The beds themselves were always made up and clean.

The worst thing & something that would stop us going back was the bedroom doors. They all have rigid handles, so EVERYONE has to slam them shut. The noise until gone 1am was awful and then from 6.30am, even during siesta time one day, i tried so hard to nap having had little sleep the night before as a child was crying through the early hours- but the door noise was deafening, all the doors are too tight fitting it seems too so literally had to be slammed. If you are remotely a light sleeper this Hotel is not for you, we could hear various rooms full conversations, next to us above us below us!!.
Definatley the worst we have ever slept on holiday, tried ear plugs which helped a bit but the door noise could still be heard.
Many plus points about this Hotel, views and staff being the main ones, negatives, basic & tired rooms and very noisy rooms. The main lobby areas are stunning as the Hotel shows off on website...money needs to be spent on the room quality as very dated and tired.

Room Tip: Don't book a room with just a window, no one peering out of one looked happy!
