Where do I begin? From the moment we stepped out of the cab and were helped with our luggage in to the Aminta's fabulous foyer the service was spectacular. We were welcomed with smiles. The Hotel Aminta is grand and spotless. It sits on a mountain side. Our room and balcony were spacious and offered breathtaking views of Sorrento, Naples Bay as well as the hotel patios and pool. Transportation is provided but we opted to walk the pathways to Sorrento. Now let me tell you a little about the staff. ALWAYS ready to take care of your every need. Breakfast includes your choice of eggs and meat, plus juices, coffee, tea and a huge buffet of pastries and rolls. Dinner offers a variety of delicious entrees and desserts. Did I mention the Staff? Fantastic!!! There is a daytime, pooltime and evening bar for the most discriminating drinkers. Did I mention the Staff? Wonderful!!! Please stay at the Aminta. You won't be disappointed. I want to pack my bags and run to the airport. We're already planning a return in May of 2009. Gian Luigi you are the Best. Thank you. M M

i stayed in the hotel aminta in sorrento, when i arrived i was greeted by a wonderrful friendly receptionist, the rooms are comfortable, clean, everything you could wish for on holiday, the view from my room was like a postcard. the ambience around the pool was where we met locals and people on holiday, and of course the staff are professional but with a real italian harmony!!
we ate most nights in the hotel restaurant, and i can say that the chefs cuisine is excellent, superb italian food !! i had everything that i could ask for to make my holiday an unforgettable ONE!! bravo!!!

I have spent numerous holidays at the Grand Hotel Aminta and loved every one. The hotel is located up in the hills sat amongst olive and lemon trees and allows for an extremely peaceful holiday. Yet, it is still in close proximity of the busy and exciting centre of Sorrento. There is a regular and reliable courtesy bus service from the hotel into the heart of the town, where you will find plenty of lovely coffee bars, restaurants and of course shops!
From the centre you have easy access to Marina Piccola where boat trips can be taken to Capri, Amalfi, Ischia and one of the prettiest in my view, Positano. Other trips which can be enjoyed are Pompei and Vesuvius, which really are a must.
On entering the hotel it is impossible not to admire the elegance and class of its typically Italian design. It really is spectacular. And the welcome you receive is indicative of the wonderful service you will come to experience throughout your stay. The bedrooms are spacious with all the amenities you could need. Air conditioning is installed in the rooms which is essential due to the lovely climate. Rooms with balconys are available on request. The views from many parts of the hotel are magnificent, you could spend hours just gazing across the Bay of Naples. A beautiful outdoor pool is available with complimentary chairs and umbrellas.
The restaurant, which has beautiful panoramic views of the Bay of Naples, serves the most delicious authentic italian food plus international menus. Following dinner in the evening you can take a drink at the outside pool bar whilst enjoying live musical entertainment. The hotel also has a bar lounge should you prefer.
All the hotel staff are friendly, efficient and attentive; nothing is too much trouble.
I have many special memories of my visits to the Aminta Hotel and Sorrento and look forward to making many more.
This hotel is a real find and one not to be missed. In a word - Magic!

Late booking through tour company based on price and trip advisor reviews. This was our default choice when our first choice was booked solid but we were very pleased that we ended up at the Aminta.
As previously stated, yes its up the hill and above Sorrento - but the view is truely four star in a semi rural area surrounded by olives and orange groves. The hotel is located on a bend in the busy road so there is traffic noise and noise from the neighbouring homes but nothing to complain about and the windows are double glazed. The public bus stops outside the hotel as does the hotel shuttle and its an easy but steep 10 minute walk into Sorrento.
Public areas and patio and pool (unheated) are stylish and spotless. The hotel has a more contemporary feel than traditional and ornate Sorrento hotels, and the bedrooms too are spare and modern in taste and furnishing. The hotels website shows exactly what it offers.
Our triple bedroom with shower overlooked the front of the hotel (not sorrento), it had a lovely sea view but no balcony and was larger than the averagely small rooms because we shared it with our 15 year old daughter. Better space than we expected and the room was spotless and kept that way by the maids.
Reception staff are fluent in English and very helpful in supplying maps/bus/train and ferrry timetables, local transport tickets and advice on where to go/local walks, beaches etc.
Breakfast is as previously reported (with an a la carte choice if cooked options required). Evening meals not bad for tourist hotel - choice of starters and mains (fish, meat , poultry, omlettes or pasta dishes) with a 3 choice dessert trolly or ice cream. Coffee extra in bar area. Waiter service by professional but very friendly staff. More than enough alternative places to eat in town.
We were more than content with our choice and our teenager loved her stay despite there being no one else there in her age group, and the hotel at this time of year catering for a more mature client group. The staff are so friendly and helpful, the location beautiful and the hotel is just the right size and well kept. We would definately go back if we return to the area as what we want from our hotel is a clean, modern, comfortable, and friendly base to come home too after our travels and a place to relax together. Prices and charges are as expected and in the internet/trip advisor age there is no need to be uninformed about "hidden" extras.
We really had a great holiday at the Aminta .

We stayed at the Aminta for several days in October, 2008 and cannot wait to go back. It was our first trip to Sorrento and Aminta was the only hotel that we booked in advance. Fantastic all around. The great experience began with easy online. booking. We did advance purchase and received a great deal. Upon check-in, the staff was attentive and friendly (sometimes uncommon in Italy), bellhop service to our room. Our room was gorgeous!!! Everything appeared new and fresh. Lots of white and blue - cool colors to match the sea...which I could see from my bed!!! We paid a little extra for a sea-view room with a balcony and it was worth it. I was able to view the sea and the city lights at night. The beds were comfortable and the room included a flat-screen tv with movies in English (a nice bonus!). Our room rate included breakfast and we really enjoyed it every morning. It is buffet/ menu. Eggs and meat are cooked to order while you are served unlimited coffee... and help yourself to juice, fruit, and more pastries than you could ever sample. We also had dinner at the hotel. Unbelievable. Care is obviously taken with every entree. My best experience at this hotel was the service. The hotel provides a convenient shuttle to town, but we preferred the pedestrian path. Only take it back up if you are in decent shape and not elderly. If you do not mind a bit of a hike, it works off the carbs!! The professional, courteous staff did everything possible to make our experience great. Thank you, Gianluigi and the staff of Aminta. We are already planning our next trip.

I’ve had great time in Grand Hotel Aminta. I love it for genuine Italian design, delicious food in the restaurant, welcoming atmosphere and high service. Lemon and olive orchard of exceptional beauty surrounds the hotel. I’m sure next time I will stay in Aminta again.

We have just returned from a 5 night stay in the Grand Hotel Aminta in Sorrento.
The hotel is well placed high up on the side of a hill just west of the town. The views over Naples Bay, from inside the hotel and from the terrace, are magnificent.
The hotel facilities are good and offered all we needed for a peaceful, relaxing and stress free stay. Our room was large and unexpectedly, had a balcony. It gave us all we had anticipated, was well serviced during our stay, and we had no problems.
The breakfasts were good and offered plenty of variety. When we chose to have dinner in the hotel the food, while not gastronomic, was good and the waiter service was polite and very efficient. In fact all the hotel staff were extremely pleasant, with reception staff always willing to help with any queries.
We had a hire car during our stay and the hotel had advertised free parking. It is, and though spaces are limited and rather awkward, we always found one. We were advised to take the courtesy coach into Sorrento because of parking problems in town. We used the coach service, and it was reliable, but the timetable could have been more convenient. However, when we drove into town, parking in municipal car parks was easy and cheap. Walking into town was also a pleasure but the return walk up the hill was hard work.
The overall deal for our break (hotel, flights and car hire) was very reasonable, and despite the quality of the hotel, the extras, such as a la carte dining and the bar, were very reasonably priced.
Would we go again or recommend friends? Definitely yes!
