My wife and I came to sorrento for our honeymoon and booked this hotel as part of a January sale deal with British airways. We could not have been happier with our stay in the grand hotel aminta!

Our room was a partial view room (which still had an amazing view of the surrounding town and the sunset). Air conditioning works very well which is important for the hot weather - it is worth noting that it works only when the window is closed.
The room is very nicely sized and has a lovely en suite bathroom, complete with a bath. My wife's critique was she found the hair dryer inadequate, but that was a minor detail - we both thought the room was fantastic!

The rooms can be made up daily, with fresh toiletries and towels provided.

The other hotel facilities include:

A pool with surrounding sunbeds. These beds are free to use, although most days the pool can be busy and the hotel have a booking service to reserve sunbeds for a day (4 euros per bed per day , which is reasonable in comparison to the 12 euros in the town beach). Pool towels can be provided free of charge on request.

Food and drinks available from the pool bar. Most of the prices we felt were reasonable to average and the food is great. We dined in the hotel restaurant 3 times during our stay and could not complain about anything!

The staff are beyond helpful; they are always very friendly and will help as best they can with any request. I cannot praise them any higher!

The hotel location is slightly outside sorrento, but a complimentary bus service is provided hourly to and from sorrento. Now I know where the transport is from, it is very simple to get to from the sorrento bus station - I would recommend contacting the hotel for directions, I am sure the staff are capable and more than happy to help!

In summary, I would completely recommend this hotel to anyone: couple or family, the hotel is well suited to the needs of both holiday types.

This is a really lovely hotel.

Great location. The hotel's perched on a hill somewhat high above the town center of Sorrento and overlooking the Bay of Naples. The views on clear sunny days were stunning with crystal clear blue waters of the Bay and the famous Mt. Vesuvius in the background, and views of the town of Sorrento below. It has to be seen. I've attached some photos to give you an idea.
The important thing to note is the hotel shuttle (: from town-hotel - a very good service:) schedule and co-ordinate your arrival / departure with that. There are public buses about every 30 minutes or so but it's most convenient to use the shuttle bus. I guess you could also take taxis for about EUR 20 (: maybe less not sure :) as well. For your day-to-day sightseeing and loitering you could just walk for 30 minutes down to the town center i.e. near the port. You probably want the shuttle to come back up though.

Great value on my deal. This hotel offers some really good half and full board rates during the off season. I suggest considering them because their chef is really good and I enjoyed eating dinner there. The breakfast is a bit common place i.e. the usual bacon, sausage, eggs, cakes, coffee, cereals etc. but still good. It's the dinner and lunch that showcases the chef's considerable talent.

Staff were simply wonderful. From the front desk, the shuttle driver, to the restaurant / bar staff and the housekeepers. All friendly and effective.

I was in a skylight double room which was comfortable enough and offered a good enough view of the Bay and Vesuvius + a bit of the town below. It's a little old fashioned and I'd like to see livelier colors on the bed linen but it really is good enough i.e. desk, lamps, coffee facilities, wardrobes, window seats, big double bed, free wi-fi, good bath shower etc. Daily housekeeping.

Public areas are also nice: great lobby with pleasant furnishing / decor, nice pool and terrace area. Rather atmospheric bar at night with candle lights and live music on certain days.

Wi-fi good and stable. Hotels got a lift / elevator so that is important.

All in all I had a great stay here. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Get one that faces the bay. You'll have to ask.

Have just returned from a week at this hotel and have nothing but good things to say! The food in particular was fantastic and the staff were lovely. Was nice to be out of the hustle & bustle of Sorrento town centre but still easy to get there thanks to the hotel's shuttle bus. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the views were amazing. Would definitely recommend this hotel!

This is a very clean, attractively furnished and well maintained hotel. The views are absolutely amazing over the sea and Vesuvius.
All staff are friendly and helpful, including those at reception, bar, restaurant, pool, gardeners and cleaners.
Our room in the garden annex had a view of Vesuvius, the sea and the gardens growing fruit, vegetables, flowers and trees. A tv/pc with free internet and tea/coffee making facilities was also provided free of charge in the room.
The pool is deep and big enough to swim, towels are provided at reception free of charge. Loungers are provided but many get reserved (4 Euros) so be aware of that if you want to sunbathe.
The food in the restaurant is as good as any restaurant in town (and they were all excellent!)
The down side for us, as we like to sightsee and explore, was getting to and from the hotel. There is an hourly shuttlebus to and from Sorrento but obviously you are limited to these times which don't always tie in with other arrangements. However if you want to relax, away from the very busy Sorrento, then all your needs would easily be met at the Aminta.

Room Tip: Garden annex is 2 minutes walk away from the main hotel and has super views.

Our first experience of great service at this hotel was when we arrived and were greeted by the extremely helpful staff on Reception. We had booked a Triple Room with Garden View as we had our young daughter with us, and we were told that they had upgraded us to a room with a balcony and sunset view. The views were simply breathtaking and it was a delight to sit on the balcony and watch the sun go down of an evening.
We had a double bed and a single bed with one double wardrobe and plenty of drawer space which we found to be adequate for our weeks stay. The room was cleaned daily with regular laundry change.
The communal areas of this hotel inside and around the garden terraces and pool area are all well maintained and spotlessly clean. The bar area provides plenty of comfortable seating and bar staff again keep this area clean at all times. The pool area was busy during our stay and we found that the best way to guarantee a sunbed was to pay 4 euros and reserve them. As with most hotels unless you do this the early risers who set alarms for dawn wake up will have bagged them all even if not using them until late afternoon!
The hotel does experience some road noise but this looks to be the case with most of the hotels in this area due to how they are situated on the hillside; this did not trouble us and the views from the terraces and rooms over the Bay of Naples far make up for this.
We had booked half board and found both breakfast and evening meals to be plentiful. Breakfast consisted of a large selection of breads and pastries, cut fruit, juices, yoghurts and some hot items. We were able to order additional from the a la carte menu but were happy with what was on offer. Dinner was fairly varied each evening and there was a Neapolitan evening and Gala Dinner night during our stay which I believe happens weekly. Service was excellent and staff friendly. An extremely nice touch for us was that my birthday happened to fall on the Gala Dinner night and it came as a complete surprise to have the waiting staff bring out a birthday cake and bottle of bubbly to our table singing Happy Birthday. When asked how they knew, we were told that on check in the date on my passport was noted; a very nice thing to do we thought and made my holiday even more memorable.
The courtesy shuttle was a good service and always on time, dropping you off within easy walk to both the main square in Sorrento and the train station to go further afield.
We will definitely return again to this gem of a hotel and would like to thank all the staff for a truly wonderful stay.

The hotel is lovely and immaculate. We were initially booked by lastminute.com who booked entirely the wrong rooms for our family, however thank you so much to Genaro on Reception who sorted this for us. On that note, the staff at this hotel are excellent and could not be more helpful, from the bar staff, the very attentive dining room staff and the very efficient reception staff - always polite, always respectful and nothing was ever too much trouble.
There is some noise from the road by the pool but to be honest it is not really that noticeable. The rooms are great and extremely clean. Yes, you do need to book sun beds to guarantee a place, however this actually means you can enjoy breakfast in peace without the usual ridiculous early morning race for beds that we have known at other hotels.
Words could not describe the beauty of the area and the views to be enjoyed, it is amazing! I would thoroughly recommend hiring your own boat and skipper for the day to fully enjoy the Amalfi Coast. We did this through Nautica Sic Sic in Sorrento. What a luxury!
The food is lovely in the evenings and a good choice. Breakfast is an offer of sweet and savoury and you can also order from the a la carte breakfast menu which we also did a few times for no extra if you are staying half board.
Was there a downside? Maybe just one or two 'typical' disrespectful and brash Brits abroad (we are British by the way!). This was okay though as they could easily be ignored and were very much in the minority among the very nice families and couples of all nationalities staying as guests.
Thank you again to everyone at the Grand Hotel Aminta!!

My wife and I have just returned from a weeks fabulous stay at the Aminta. The staff are super friendly and nothing seems to be too much trouble. We had been allocated room 403 which had views over the bay of Naples and was larger than expected. The cleanliness of the Hotel is as good as any we have stayed at previously.
Tips
When returning form Sorrento using the shuttle bus, get there 15 minutes before departure to ensure you get a place. In the event that you don't manage to be picked up straight away then the driver will come back for you. The down side is that you are waiting by the side of a very bust road.
We found booking guided trips, although quite expensive, was well worth it as the tour guides were very knowledgeable
Be wary of charging everything to your room to avoid a nasty shock at check out
Don't drink too much Limoncello!!!

Room Tip: Balcony rooms overlooking the pool
