“Great Hotel”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

I booked this hotel for our stay in Sorrento, as it was recommended to me by my parents, who had stayed there previously. It's in a great central location, just minutes from all the bars & shops on the Main Street, but also quiet, as it's located up a small hill, away from any noise. Our rooms were located at the back of the hotel with a garden view, meaning we were looking onto a cliff covered in greenery. This wasn't a problem, as we still had the sun on our balcony, but also had privacy. Our rooms were quite spacious, clean & comfortable, with plenty of storage & hangers. The shower itself is quite small, but absolutely fine. We booked through Thomsons on a half board basis. We fully intended to eat out most evenings ( as we thought the buffet style food would be the usual chicken nuggets & chips type if food). how wrong were we! The restaurant is buffet service, however, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food available. Great buffet breakfast, and evening dinner even better. Typically, we'd start off with the salad selection, then there was always soup available. Sometimes there was prawn cocktail etc for starters. The main courses were served by the staff at the counter. There were dishes like Sea bass, salmon with some sort of topping, hunters chicken, beef bourguignon, veal etc, and always a pasta dish as well. A selection of deserts followed. The hotel staff were friendly, and couldn't do enough to help. The pool is spotless & we never struggled to find a lounger or deck chair even in July. No need to take a Beach towel, as we paid 5 Euros each to rent a towel at the poolside, which we just kept for the 6 days. Lots of areas around the hotel for sitting relaxing, both inside & out. There was a pianist playing one night, and other nights some background music. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Conca Park & I cannot recommend it enough!

Room Tip: The sea view rooms higher up have a fantastic view overlooking the bay, however, these rooms come at...

This hotel has an unsual entrance via a tunnel and this leads to a welcoming reception area where you are met byfriendly and efficient staff. This theme carried on throughout our seven night stay when the staff could not be faulted. The room was on the fourth floor and with a sea view over the bay of naples, well worth the upgrade. The pool area is excellent. Restaurant food and service was good. Location is ok and convenient but a walk along the corsa italia during daytime is a little stressful with the volume of traffic. Sorrento is a busy town with lots of traffic and the transfer from naples airport can take some time. An excursion to Amalfi coast is a must but dont bother with Capri, it is a rip off

We stayed at Conca Park for 2 weeks as part of our wedding and honeymoon in Italy through Thomsons. The room was good, it was slightly smaller than other rooms as it was at the end, but that just means you only get one neighbour. As a result the shower was quite small, but we coped fine. The bed and pillows were fantastic for me, slept brilliantly every night, which is quite rare on holiday.

The food was spot on for half board, it's served buffet style, so it can be quite busy depending on what time you eat, it does get a bit monotonous after a while, so my advice is get yourself out and try some of Sorrento's many restaurants.

The pool area was clean and well kept, and loads of staff around to take your food or drink order.

The hotel is ideally located for Sorrento centre, only a couple of minutes walking, there is a long tunnel to contend with, but get yourself on one of the golf buggies all the way to the top if you can't face walking it.

All of the staff were friendly, and worked really hard, especially when the hotel got a lot busier in our second week. They can seem a bit grumpy at first, but try out some Italian with them and they'll soon warm to you.

The drinks were well priced depending on what you had, beer was 4 euros for 40cl, and coke was 2.50 which for Sorrento was really good. Gin & Tonics were 8.50 though, so we stayed away from them when we found out.

The only real problem we had was the hotel doesn't take money at source for drinks etc, it all goes on your room tab. We decided to pay it off every couple of days so we knew what we were spending, but the last bill we paid hadn't been added to the computer, the receptionist did say it sometimes happens, so we nearly got charged twice and couldn't find the reciept. Luckily we didn't have to pay and did find the reciept after, but make sure you keep hold of the stamped reciept they give you every time you pay, just in case.

We've throughly enjoyed our stay at Conca, and would highly reccommend the hotel.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 111, pool view, end room, great view of Vesivius and no need to use the lifts (whi...

Thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at the Conca Park Hotel in Sorrento. Rooms had beautiful ocean views. Hotel also had a large sunny spotless outdoor pool to cool down in. There was a beautiful quiet shaded patio area where you could easily relax outside, read a book, play a game of cards, enjoy a cocktail and bite to eat, or just visit with family and friends. Our family of 5 had 2 rooms at this hotel. Both rooms were extremely clean with plenty or space for us all. Beds were comfy, bathrooms roomy and clean, rooms were comfortable and air conditioned. Balcony was very enjoyable in the mornings and evenings to take in the great panoramic views. The best things about this hotel though would have to be the friendly helpful staff, the exceptional customer service, and their fantastic breakfast buffet. Our stay at Conca Park was very comfortable, extremely relaxing and most enjoyable. Would highly recommend this classy gem of a hotel to others.

Room Tip: Request an ocean view room. Some pool view rooms also enjoyed an ocean view too.

The Conca Park is in an excellent location for a short stroll into Sorrento. We stayed in a garden room which as the names suggests had a lovely view over the gardens. Being at the back of the hotel it was nice and quiet. We had booked directly with the hotel on a bed & breakfast rate. The breakfast is a very nice buffet with amongst other thing, lots of fresh fruit, eggs, cheese, ham etc and very nice omelettes made to order. We had lunch a couple of times at the pool bar which was very nice. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, all in all a lovely stay in beautiful location.

We came on a half board Thompson Tour. Our rep was lovely and Thompson flight and transfer services got us there in one piece. This is our first Thompson trip but we have both stayed in a number of 'European' hotels (and hostels) before.
The hotel states that it has a 4 Star rating. It is located close to town and is a nice walking distance to the shops and cafés with vital amenities like proper tea and wi-fi :-). The communal reception, lounge, dinning and pool areas of the hotel are clean and modern but none of these areas have sea views. They also introduced a rule during our stay stating that you can not eat or drink consumables purchased from outside the hotel in these areas. The hotel also has a nice 'therapy / spa' pool and a few walking machines, which constitute the gym. They also have a on site spa, we did not use this as the opening hours appeared to vary depending on the whim of the Therapist, though the prise list appeared reasonable (except for bridal services). If being very generous this could be considered to scrape into a 4 star category. The rest of the hotel is firmly a 3 star.

We had a good sized room to the rear of the hotel on the fourth floor. (Other floors appeared to be a higher spec with carpet in the halls, so we wonder if this was the 'cheap' Thompson floor.) It had a balcony facing the cliff. We did not see the sea and pool view rooms but the view alone could not worth the £200 a week surcharge. Our room was dated and very basic and it never felt clean underfoot. The bed was huge, with two king single beds pushed together. There was a new TV but as we don't come away to watch TV and there weren't any English (even news) channels that really didn't matter. There is an empty little bar fridge in the room that is helpful. The bathroom was huge but the shower was so small it was hard to wash your hair or shave your legs! The water pressure was good but the shower head was old and filthy. There is shelf, at an angle, above the hand basin and toilet. Items did slip off the shelf and fall in to the toilet, not good. The bathroom is in desperate need of updating for this room to be considered 4 star.

There was a ridiculous amount of noise most evenings. We could hear EVERYTHING in the tiled hall outside the room, voices bounced off the walls and foot steps echoed down the corridor. The toilet flush was so loud we could hear the next room going during the night! We were also unfortunate to hear the 'clip, clop' of high heals in the room above, maybe that's related to the floors not feeling clean?

The food on the half board was ok, with a reasonable meat based variety (very little vegetarian options were offered). You can never have a bad meal in Italy but you won't get a great one here. The wait staff appear to be confused as to the type of service they offer. They will not allow men to wear shorts to dinner but women can have shorts so sort their butt cheeks are showing! Some nights they insist on seating guests, others it's a free for all. The food is self service buffet style and you're never sure if you're table will still be free when you get back from waiting in line for the food. Also, the staff have often removed a plate from the table while someone has still been eating from it. I'm not sure what level of dining experience they are trying to provide, I'm also not sure they know either.

The pool is also very dated and you are charged for the use of towels, 3€ a day or 5€ for 5 days. This pool area is small and not aimed at children therefore if was often quiet enough to enjoy. On our last day we observed a rat walking near the pool / out door dinning area. Staff were informed but it was not clear how (or if) this was dealt with.

The included wi-fi is not reliable and when you can pick up a signal, dial up would have been quicker! Overall it's fine, but not a polished 4 star.

Room Tip: Go to a different hotel if you want a good room!

Arrived at the hotel late and was greeted nicely and luggage was taken to our rooms whilst we were eating dinner.. so a great start. Got to our room (512, 6th floor sea view room) and we couldn't fault it. Cleaned everyday and always done spotless. We have seen alot of complaints about other rooms but if you pay that bit extra for the Seaview rooms it is totally worth it. Food is ok.. We had half board but we decided before we went that we would probably eat out every night anyway even though it can be expensive it's so worth it. Couldn't think of anything worse eating from a buffet every night in Italy when there is all that fabulous food out there. But breakfast was always a good range and done nicely. Pool area lovely and peaceful and always sunbeds available. It was great to come back from a busy day to such a relaxing atmosphere by the pool, we loved it. Evenings in the garden bar were wonderful.. again peaceful. No typical annoying entertainment. It's a very adult classy hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location great, close enough to everything but not too close its noisey. Overall we couldn't say anything negative about it, definitely will be back one day when we visit Sorrento again. Grazie Conca Park!
