We have just returned from the Vue D`OR, what a lovely holiday we had it is such a lovely hotel the staff are great very helpful & cheerful & make you welcome on arrival. It is very clean everywhere you look the rooms are nice very clean & well looked after.
The food was good the waiters most helpfull & kind they will change anything if it does not suit you, i must point out we were NEVER EVER rushed at anytime in the dining room& i spoke to many couples there not one person complained about anything in the hotel & quite a few said they would be coming back. This was our 2nd stay at the Vue D`or, & we intend going again in the future. The holidaymaker who wrote that so many things were wrong would not be happy in Buckingham Palace i feel.
I have not read anyone else who found so many faults, some people just waste a holiday looking for "faults" i`m afraid nothing else to do maybe.
It is a family run hotel most efficently in my opinion.
The views are breathtaking. The courtesy bus is very accurate on time, the driver Antonino, is very helpful i have walking difficulties & he was most helpful. Thank you to all staff.
Mary & Ron Page.

Room Tip: Book a balcony & seaview to enjoy the fabulous views.

We have just returnmed today and had a lovely time at this hotel. As previously mentioned this hotel is spotless and the staff are all really nice and helpful. The shuttle bus down to the town is great and really important due to the hotel's location, Having said that we loved the fact that we could escape from the town and that it was so quiet so for those who write bad reports about the location - they really need to do their research before booking. Only issues - breakfast was poor quality and we didn't feel that the other tourists in the hotel appreciated the fact that we had small children. We were aware of every noise our children made around the pool as we could see the impact it had on others.

Room Tip: Get a valley / pool view for the best sun

Just back from the Hotel La vue Dor Sorrento.
spotless & clean every where .
Great Staffs all round.
Great Breakfast Buffet Style.
Good Food every night ( The Waiters are great )
Fantasic views of the whole of Sorrento & the bay .
Mini Free Bus to Sorrento every 30 mins (except during the afternoon)
It is high up in the hills but the view and location is fab .
If you enjoy very quite pieceful locations this is for you.
Not ideal for small children mainly be due to the steps, but this not really a issue.
We did miss the stroll along the sea front& the evenings on the beach ,which we knew Sorrento does not have, however the terrace views from the town are great .
But my recomendation is DONT MISS OUT ON THIS GEM OF A LOCATION & HOTEL.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with the view , The room over looking the pool do not have the view . level 5 or 6...

Oh dear, I do sometimes find myself becoming concerned about those of my fellow travelers who spend quite a lot of money on their holiday only to waste their time looking for things to moan about. A couple of recent - and I might say rather snooty - reviews of La Vue D'or seem to have been written to illustrate my point.
First of all I have stayed at the hotel twice and far from the hard working staff there being cold or uninterested I found them all to be engaging, often in the most playful way. From those on the front desk to the waiters in the restaurant everyone gives me the impression of enjoying providing a service. The evening barman, who also covers the front desk throughout the night, Angelo, is a case in point. He has a fine - if sometimes rather dry - sense of humour, which he eagerly shares with anyone who engages with him. He happily talks about his family, and yours, and appears to have a genuine interest in the people he meets at the hotel. I look forward to sharing a joke with him again in the future.
In one recent review the writer commented unfavourably about the hotel's location and wrote that the views were a long way off. Well, things are always either close or far and I don't think anyone at the hotel can be blamed for Vesuvius having located itself on the other side the bay. Actually, I think the views are delightful, both across the bay and up into the mountains, and the location of the hotel only serves to heighten that experience. As for the hotel shuttle, it does run precisely to time and a little planning means you can get to and from Sorrento with no difficulty and for free. Also, if you tell them at the hotel that you will be late in getting back they will try to to be helpful. There is, also, a regular service bus that runs past the hotel.
I may be easily pleased (although many of my friends would dispute that) but I think the rooms we have had at La Vue D'Or were more than adequate, with strong showers and comfortable beds. I don't really ask for much else in that respect. Considering how much there is to do and see in the Sorrento area, I wouldn't expect visitors to spend much time in their room, anyway.
Of course, you can always find something to complain about if you really think that's a good use of your free time (and, yes, it should be possible to provide free WiFi) but on balance relaxing and enjoying yourself is probably a better option. From my experience, the lovely people at La Vue D'Or are keen to help you do that.

Just arrived back from spending two weeks at La Vue Dor hotel, we had a great time. The staff are absolutely brilliant very friendly, they made us very welcome. The meals were great, service was exceptionall! The most amazing thing is the view from the hotel it is breathtaking, to sit on the balcony overlooking Sorrento wow.The hotel is quite way up from Sorrento, but the shuttle service is great, making regular trips down and very reliable. We met some lovely people there and never heard a negative comment about the hotel or the staff. We would definitely go back it was heaven.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a sea view well worht it.

We didn't have the highest expectations of this 3* hotel as we got an excellent deal on Thomas cook. However, in our opinion, unfortunately the negatives of this hotel far outweighed the positives.
The outbound flight was fine and unremarkable, as was the pleasant (but longer than anticipated) coach transfer. We arrived at the hotel around 3pm to be greeted by a frosty member of staff and told bluntly our room wasn't ready (we later learnt that this abrupt behaviour was just the Italian 'way' and not a manner adopted only by the staff at our hotel). Not a big problem. We ordered an overpriced basic sandwich and waited patiently. Around half an hour later we got our room key and told to go to floor 6. Which is 2 floors below reception level. Ok then. Our room was basic and dated but clean and tidy. Smelt damp. The balcony and the view were magnificent and by far the best feature of the hotel.
Dinner times felt rushed and stuffy, again we found the staff cold and abrupt and wanting to get you in and out as swiftly as possible. The food was at most 7/10 on the better nights. Everything is cooked in too much salt and the same sauce. The bread was always stale.
Breakfasts were ok but like many others have mentioned, why on earth no fresh fruit or fresh squeezed orange juice from the thousands of beautiful oranges on the trees outside the hotel?!!!!
The room was very cold at night. When we asked reception if we could turn our heating on, they said no, not until the middle of June. Ridiculous!!!!! They offered us an extra blanket which wasn't good enough, so after a couple more attempts we were given a small blow heater to compensate. The shower was temperemental but useable. The bottled water as well as the rest of the drinks at the bar were overpriced (much like the rest of sorrento, as we expected) so stock up on water and wine as we did from the local supermarket in sorrento centre. Shuttle bus very prompt and useful. Without this, there are very few reasons to stay at this hotel as opposed to another one closer to the centre. The large gap which it doesnt run from between 12pm - 5.30pm proved rather inconvenient, especially when we got stuck outside for the rainiest day sorrento has possibly ever had!
Highly recommend visiting Pompeii, Naples, Vesuvius and Herculaneum. Fascinating. Unfortunately didn't have time for the amalfi drive. Don't bother with the recommended market in piano sorrento, not worth the trip, predominantly cheap clothes, aimed at the locals.
Return coach transfer was long (well over 2 hours) as we got stuck in horrendous traffic and Naples airport was the most unorganised and shambolic airport I have ever been to.
The final word, Sorrento is beautiful, you will enjoy it at any age and no doubt staying at any hotel, BUT in my opinion, I wouldn't recommend la Vue D'or to you unless you are a couple over 60 years old who enjoy early, quiet nights.
Wishing you a wonderful holiday.
