I booked this hotel after extensive research and can honestly say I was not disappointed. The hotel was immaculate., views breathtaking and the service incredible. Big thank you to staff gennaro, salvatore and Guisy who made my stay extra special. I booked this holiday for my birthday and i had a brilliant time. It truly is the dolce vita!!! Domenica

There is much that is really good about this hotel. Fantastic views over Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples, bright, clean and spacious bedrooms, attractive public areas, good pools, lovely bar and terrace area and a great a la carte restaurant for lunches. Efficient and friendly housekeeping and bar staff. The position of the hotel is also good, raised up above the bay and only a short walk into town

So, what's not to like? Service in all the restaurant areas is erratic to say the least. Some days fast; other days, especially when the hotel is catering for outside functions or weddings, very slow. It's irritating to look across into another restaurant and see all your waiters. There is a lack of personal attention caused by the sheer turnover of guests and dining service would work so much better if one table were served by one waiter. Generally, the food was only average and there was a real lack of variety of fresh fruit and vegetables (other than salad).

Breakfast is over-crowded and a bit of a scrum and it seems bizarre to squash all your guests into one restaurant when the hotel claims to have at least three. This is the only hotel where I have had to queue (twice) to get a table for dinner. It's also very irritating not to be able to use one's evening half board towards the occasional evening in the a la carte poolside restaurant as many other hotels offer.

Capodimonte is one of several hotels and one restaurant in Sorrento owned by the Manniello family. It would have been lovely to eat in one or two of the others for a change, if only to see if the service and the food were better but, no, we weren't able to do this either.

Room Tip: We booked a sea view room with balcony on floor nine. It was a very long walk and a few stairs to g...

A top hotel for service, facilities and food. We had a marvellous vacation based here.

Room Tip: You must get a room with balcony and sea view, its worth the extra cost.

We arrived home just a few days ago and my husband and I had the most amazing time. The hotel was perfect in every way. Food was amazing although the hustle and bustle of the Gala night was a little disappointing. Attentive service by all staff. Swimming pools were clean and because there were so many there was plenty of room for everyone. The hotel is only a few minutes from the main town and trips to Capri and Amalfi are a must, but do add the additional boat trips as these made the day, would not hesitate to return or recommend to any one.
Enjoy! Just a tip for Men - you must wear long trousers for dinner.

Room Tip: Ask for a High floor with Sea View.

Just got back from the Capodimonte and stayed there for 2 weeks as we were getting married in the cloisters. The hotel is stunning. I had read so many reviews and looked at all the photos before we went but you can not appreciate the breath taking views from the photos until you see it yourself. The hotel is very clean and the furniture is lovely. The hotel is staggered up the cliff side but there are lifts to all floors. It is in a brilliant location as it is away from the town centre taking advantage of the views however is literally a 2 minute walk to the nearest supermarket and about 5 minutes to the central piazza. Other reviews had said that the food wasn't that good but I thought it was excellent. You get a choice of about 5 options for your starter, main and dessert and the food is very tasty. Many people also said that prices in the hotel and Sorrento were very expensive but we thought that it was cheap. I suppose it depends were you come from but were we live you can't get a cocktail for any less than £7. The hotel has a different cocktail on offer every night for €6.50 and they are very good. Other drinks are a bit more pricey than in town for example a sorbet drink costs the same as the cocktail so just keep an eye on your tab however you can get drinks in the local supermarket for a lot cheaper than you would pay in the uk and the cost of food in the restaurants is very reasonable. You can get a large pizza for one for less than €7. I would recommend a restaurant called Meating for a great steak but try the smaller restaurants in the side streets too as they are often better than the bigger restaurants on the main street. Overall a stunning hotel and the views from the pools are amazing and we drove past a few other hotels there and in my opinion this was the best. Only down side is that service can be a bit slow in the restaurants at peak times especially if the hotel has a wedding reception on that day but the staff are all very friendly and speak good English. Definitely going back in the future.

This hotel lived upto our expectations and more. The location is spectacular, it is very clean and the staff can't do enough for you. We stayed B and B only and glad we did as it allowed us to venture into Sorrento each night to some fantastic restaurants.

We spent our honeymoon in Sorrento in this hotel. The hotel itself was beautiful and in an ideal location along the Amalfi coast. It was only a pleasant 5 minute walk from Sorrento town. The room was fabulous and exceeded our expectations.
There was an amazing selection of food at breakfast, and the evening menu was also very impressive. The service in the hotel was excellent, although we felt the need to give a special mention to Raphaelle, the drinks waiter, who was most attentive and very friendly.
We will definitely be back to the Grand Capodimonte in the future.

Room Tip: We had a sea view, but it was so rare that we sat on the balcony, it did not feel worth it. We enjoy...
