Just had a lovely week at this hotel and would thoroughly recommend it. The rooms were spotlessly clean, with good facilities and spacious . Staff were extremely helpful and the breakfast buffet was good. We did not eat in any of the restaurants in the evening as preferred to walk 10 minutes into town and eat at one of the many restaurants or bars there. The hotel is set in the side of a cliff over several floors and we were lucky enough to be on the top floor with a sea view overlooking the bay of Naples and Vesuvius - stupendous.

A family holiday in Sorrento was made just a little more special by choosing the Grand Hotel Capodimonte. The hotel is just on the edge of town and a little higher out of the bay - about a 10 minute stroll from the town centre. This made it very quiet and a bit cooler than in the centre.

Staff throughout the hotel were really lovely - very welcoming, professional, approachable, friendly and helpful. We don't have young children anymore (all growed up) and I'm not sure they would have liked this hotel 10 years ago ... not much for youngsters.

Food in the hotel was very nice at both breakfast and evening meal - with the right local touches in the evening menu. Only rarely ate in the hotel at lunchtime ... but really enjoyed more universal snacks by the pool when we did.

I can see why people fall in love with this location. Trips out to historic locations nearby were fabulous and Sorrento town was very entertaining (though the atmosphere was far more "commercial" than I had expected).

The hotel rooms were very comfortable and well furnished - traditional styling rather than modern. Rooms were well maintained and clean. We had rooms facing the cliffs which suited me as they were cooler.

Getting to the pools involved a walk into the cliffside (which felt like something from a James Bond movie) but the pool area and terraces were fabulous - the view of the bay of Naples and the town of Sorrento were simply stunning.

I'm by means a seasoned traveller but this hotel felt quite luxurious to me. It's good to try different places, but if we returned to Sorrento I would definitely look to see if there were rooms available here.

Room Tip: Cliffside room for quiet time and cooling breeze - bay-facing for warmth and views.

Dear Sir,

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review regarding your recent stay at our hotel.

We’re glad to learn that we contributed into making your holiday special and that everything went smoothly.

You really highlighted one of our best features: our location, close enough to the city center to easily access its amenities or use it as a base to explore the region; at the same time we are far enough to avoid the hustle and bustle of the Sorrento nighttime life.

We appreciated your remarks regarding the staff and the rooms, together with the special setting of our hotel, built into the cliff face, which allows for breathtaking views.

Lastly, we are really happy that you felt pampered and relaxed, since this is one of our main goals.

We are already looking forward to welcoming you as soon as possible

Just had a wonderful week here at this charming & beautifully appointed hotel. The ambience & atmosphere are very relaxing & the standard of service superb. Food is very good but not exceptional and the service in the restaurant is variable - this added to the charm and our relaxing time but for others around us it was a frustration.
We loved our stay & will definitely return ASAP , when we had a problem in our bathroom the hotel responded within 5mins and sorted the situation out without any inconvenience to us.
All staff are so polite and helpful and take pride in their work. The cleanliness and maintenance of the hotel is excellent.
We look forward to returning now we have found this gem. Thank you

I booked this hotel to celebrate my husbands 50th birthday. We were there end of April beginning of May. Very impressive built into the rock. We had a room at the back which overlooks the garden. This was fine with us as the extra price for a view was quite a lot more, when we actually didn't spend much time in our room. The fantastic views can be seen from all public areas, the dining room, lounge/ bar area, & pool.
The room was very clean, & very comfortable bed. Only downside is no tea or coffee making facilities, but I took my own!
We stayed half board & the dining area was lovely with views over the bay. Breakfast plentiful. Dinner was waiter service with a varied menu & in my opinion great food. Drinks were extra but not overpriced for a four star hotel.
All staff were polite & helpful, the waiters especially.
The weather was not that good when we were there but there were plenty of sunbeds around the pool area with a restaurant & bar. Towels available from the lifeguard.
We did eat out one evening, at a restaurant called Il Borgo up in the hills recommended on a review I had seen on trip advisor. The restaurant will collect you & bring you back to the hotel complimentary, and the hotel reception will ring & book this & the table for you. On this day we swapped our evening meal for lunch in the poolside restaurant.
Overall a great hotel within walking distance to the centre of town.
Would thoroughly recommend

Dear Madam,

Firstly let me thank you for your lovely remarks, we are pleased to learn that you celebrated your birthday with us and that you had a wonderful time.

As you noticed, our hotel has plenty of public areas with terraces which overlook the bay, so anyone can enjoy breathtaking views while sipping a cocktail or listening to the live music on evenings.

Thanks again for the compliments about the courtesy and professionalism of the staff, the location and our varied menus to satisfy every palate; unfortunately the weather in April hasn’t been that good but maybe you’ll be able to make up for it by visiting us again in the near future.

From the impressive entrance built into the cliff side, the light and modern reception area and the light, spacious and comfortable rooms, this hotel is truly amazing. Built on many levels onto the cliff, it is a warren of terraces, bars, restaurants and spectacular pool area. The main restaurant has wonderful panorama view across the bay of Naples and beyond to Vesuvius.
Staff, particularly those on reception, are polite, helpful and always on hand to help in any way.
Rooms spacious, bright comfortable and very clean.
Meals varied and plenty of choice.
Thanks to all concerned for a lovely stay.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the bay have wonderful views.

I have now stayed at the Capodimonte four times, each experience exceeds the last. This most recent booking included family and friends which totaled 19 rooms. EVERYONE raved about the property, from the phenomenal breakfast, the views, the comfort of the rooms, the cleanliness, the natural beauty of the property, the pools, the close proximity to town, and most importantly the superb customer service. I truly love the employees of this hotel. They exceed the standard, showing the utmost respect and friendliness imaginable. I know I will never stay anywhere else when visiting the Amalfi Coast/Sorrento area. I have looked at all other properties in Sorrento and although you can pay a lot more I can't find another hotel that I prefer. The Capodimonte is truly the best! I'm home one week and already yearn to be back there. See you soon guys! Grazie Mille for another outstanding stay!

Room Tip: I love the rooms eight floor and higher as their views leave me breathless!

As soon as I arrived at The Capodimonte it felt special; this fabulous hotel built into the rock has a stunning entrance with a marble , elaborate lift taking you up to the reception where the very friendly, efficient receptionists make you feel very welcome. The whole ambiance & calm of the hotel makes you feel relaxed immediately. I was travelling on my own on this occasion as I went toSorrento to surprise my grandaughter for her 18th birthday as she was staying there for a month with her college - it certainly was a surprise!! My room was beautiful, lovely decor, spotlessly clean however the only thing missing was tea & coffee making facilities but that seems quite normal in Italy. The lounge was very comfortable & had stunning views, a lovely atmosphere with very attentive waiting staff serving drinks & complimentary nibbles to help yourself in the evening.
Breakfast overlooking the bay has to be the best start to anyones day; the location was perfect & I can't wait to share this experience with my husband on a future visit. First class from start to finish.
